24.4.3 Balance Update Coming Later This Week, Nerfs to Theotar and Hunter

Since Masters Tour is now over, many players were expecting a balance update soon – possibly even today. While we now know that it won’t happen today, good news is that it was just confirmed for later this week.

We have a few confirmed nerfs – Theotar, the Mad Duke is getting hit alongside some Hunter cards – Harpoon Gun and two of the Wildseeds (Bear & Stag). Given that the tweet said “cards like” I think that we might expect some more changes too.

We sadly don’t have full patch notes yet, but they are coming on Thursday. We don’t know when the patch itself will be released, but given that notes for those updates usually drop either on the same day or day before, I’d say that it should be either Thursday or Friday. Stay tuned for full patch notes & release date!

Honestly, nerf Hunter harder! Hunter is the absolute oppressive class these days. It’s one of those toxic decks which does it all: Control, go face, have absolute bonkers combo plays. It’s been no fun playin HS these past weeks due to Hunter.

    Not my baby 🙁

Why not nerf Denathrius so that Theotar (or any hard-hand interruption) isn’t mandatory in very non-Aggro deck. Theotar is only seeing so much play because so many decks that run late-game have one win-condition: delay until turn 10, play heavy-swinging/game winning card. If they stopped printing those (or stopped making them neutral) then Theotar would just be a mild annoyance not a counter to nearly 10 decks all featuring Denathrius as endgame.

So true, also decks just run a lot of big hitter cards like hero cards, and the decks aren’t really combo decks but still get wrecked by Theotar.
