Clues of something big on the horizon for Hearthstone have been mounting. A card without text was revealed yesterday, with this message:
We stumbled across a mysterious cache of blades! Much to our surprise, when we reached out to add them to our collection, they sprung to life and began wildly cutting up everything in their path – including the text on the card! What do you think the text on this card said? What secrets are they trying to hide?
Reddit has had some interesting theories. A Death Knight class has been rumored since beta, and one of their skills in World of Warcraft is the Dancing Rune Weapon. The theory that seems most likely to me is Adventure Mode. That link will explain what is currently known, but a brief summary is you play vs. the AI in a similar way to the beginning Hearthstone tutorial. There would be the potential to gain new cards, complete quests, and gain other rewards. Ben Brode Senior Game Designer for Hearthstone, makes it sound like a way to keep players interested between expansions:
We’ve got some ideas, and our strategy of releasing Adventures between expansions to keep it fresh. Adventures will have much smaller amounts of cards, between 20 and 30 while the major expansions will have a lot more.
Today, players have found cobwebs on the Hearthstone home page.
This seems to point more directly at Naxxramas, you’ve got the Unholy Swords represented yesterday as the blank card, and today you have cobwebs potentially representing the The Arachnid Quarter. Either way, I don’t think we’ll have to wait long for the announcement, PAX East is coming up on April 11th so we can probably look forward to the big reveal then! That, and hopefully the full release of the iPad version of Hearthstone!
UPDATE 4-10-2014: A new card has been revealed and the clues are really starting to stack up!

Something strange is happening – these horrific sacs have been appearing in the Inn! I-I think something is moving inside. Please, don’t tell me what’s inside! I don’t want to know!
If you believed in the Naxxramas theory then this could be an egg from Maexxna, the third boss in the Arachnid Quarter.
