Did you try your luck in the Heroic Tavern Brawl? If you had a good run, consider adding it with our Hearthstone Deck Builder! I’ll add any high win runs (with proof) to this post below.

What? No Shaman? Folks were predicting nothing but Shaman. Is Shammy making an appearance at all, or are the competitors going counter-expectations for this one?

Know what would be nice? If they have everyone one free entry into this crap. I don’t want to waste any of my gold in this tavern brawl as I’ve been saving it for the next expansion and I refuse to pay real money to play this game besides buying card packs. I know I may not represent the entire community, but I think that there should be a way for people who play this game for free to participate.

You are unbelievable. They do give you a free way to participate, but you don’t want to do it. Stop whining and use your gold, or don’t play in the tavern brawl.

They have greedy commercial model. I have paid far more than for 3 triple A games, played it for a shitload of time, done a tone of quests, and I still havent got all the cards. Its insane, because the real value of the game is far less than what blizz get from all the people like me. And now before the expansion, they decided to put on brawl like this, so the players can get rid of their spared money and get a bit drier into new expansion. I am ambivalent about Blizzard. And I know a lot of people share the same feelings about them. Love them becouse they have made high quality games and hate them because of their greedy strategic moves like this brawl is. Likewise 1:4 dusting model… Darkbru I am with you bro.

In contrary to what you say, I don’t think this brawl is a greedy move. You can use gold to enter it, the only catch is that you need to be a good player. I also disagree that Blizzard is greedy. Compare Hearthstone to other card games. For a game like Yu-Gi-Oh, a pack might cost you like $3-$4, and usually those cards you get will be absolutely useless and you would have just wasted $3-$4. In Hearthstone, you don’t even need to spend money to get cards, and any useless cards can be destroyed and made into useful cards. Additionally a HS pack (if you buy a single pack) is about $1.50 at the lowest bundle.

You might say “well real cards have value and I can sell them”, but really they are just paper, which isn’t worth a whole lot. They are only valuable because people want them, but you still need to go through the effort of finding someone who wants them.

Blizzard also provides players with tons of ways to get free cards through weekly tavern brawls, quests, etc. Blizzard also gives disenchant bonuses when they nerf cards because they believe that you should get your investment back so your money and resources were not wasted on a dead card. Of course Blizzard isn’t going to just give you the whole game for free, they are a business and if you want more stuff faster, then pay for it. Too many people expect everything to be “free” and just handed to them. Work for it or pay for it, that’s how the world works.

It’s a bit of a misconception when people compare HS to other video games. It is a virtual card game, it should be compared to other card games rather than games like GTA or Legend of Zelda which are very dissimilar in comparison.

If I could get all the cards in Magic the Gathering or Yugioh by just playing against other players, I’d be so happy. Right now I have 7k gold sitting because i simply just do dailies. I don’t even ladder much.

Additionally, if you are good enough you will make your gold back and essentially get free packs. The point of the brawl is that you take a higher risk for a large reward. If you don’t want to take the risk, then don’t. Blizzard isn’t just going to give free entry to something that offers such a great reward.
