The Lich King Boss Guide – How-to Get the Prince Arthas Hero Skin

The Lich King is your final destination in the Knights of the Frozen Throne single-player mission content. This Lich King Boss guide will help you defeat him with all 9-classes and gain you the coveted Paladin skin: Prince Arthas!

How-to Beat The Lich King

The Lich King (TLK) plays one of the following cards on his first turn depending on what class you are playing.

Turns 1-6

The Lich King starts with 30 Health and 30 Armor plus a 2-Mana Hero Power called The Scourge that summons a 2/2 Ghoul whenever it is used. Other than the Hero Power you can expect to see the following cards generally played early in the game:

Turn-7: Frostmourne

On turn seven The Lich King plays Frostmourne (Lich King Boss) which removes the minions from his board and plays six Trapped Soul that are vanilla 2/6 minions. Along with that TLK gains a passive Hero Power: Harvest of Souls – You are Immune if you control a Trapped Soul. You will need to destroy all of the Trapped Souls to remove the immunity from The Lich King.

The Lich King will not play any cards during this time (he does continue to draw them each turn), so you can load up the board or do what you want. However, he will be destroying your minions or face with Frostmourne (it doesn’t lose durability), so having taunts or a way to quickly clear the board is very important.

Clearing the Board

Once you’ve removed all of the Trapped Souls, Frostmourne and the immunity will be removed and The Lich King’s Hero Power will change to: Remorseless Winter – Deal X damage to the enemy hero. +1 Damage each time. This Hero Power means you are now on a clock and need to finish the job rather quickly. He’ll usually have Obliterate and Blizzard at this point. The big card you need to be aware of is Bonemare so be careful when leaving up any minions on his board. This can also be a common spot for Anti-Magic Shell and he’ll usually reload his hand with Looming Presence (Heroic).

General Lich King Interactions/Tips

  • You can actually use Counterspell to counter The Lich King’s automatically cast first turn spell. The only way you can really swing this, however, is with Kabal Lackey.
  • The Lich King will always play Frostmourne on turn seven, so any minion you play on turn six will be safe as long as it has more than 5 Health! This means you can play Doomsayer into this turn and it will always go off.
  • Abuse the Restart button if you don’t get a good hand. He doesn’t fight fair, why should we?!
  • Keep in mind that defeating The Lich King can come down to luck. Sometimes he won’t coin into a turn one play, he won’t have Obliterate, and he might not Blizzard on turn six. I know it feels like these things happen every game, but eventually you will defeat him!

The Lich King Deck Lists & Guides for Every Class

We have finally put together a deck list and guide for every class to defeat The Lich King. It has come to my attention that you can actually just use all Murlocs to defeat the majority of these. Druid I know for sure won’t work because Purge the Weak would just remove them all. This has proven to be one of the most reliable strategies when taking him down!

All Neutral Murlocs should work for the following classes: Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, and Warlock (you won’t die due to duplicates because you have cards in your hand). You can mix in class Murlocs if the class has them, but here’s the basic list: The Lich King Boss – Aggro Murloc Deck.

No surprise, but Jade Druid even dominates The Lich King!

Click the deck title to read the guide on how to play this deck!

This deck replaces the previously listed Y’Shaarj Hunter list. It should be much more consistent, but relies pretty heavily on Molten Giant.

Click the deck title to read the guide on how to play this deck!

Murlocs will work for Mage too. I used the deck to defeat The Lich King on my first try with it.

If you don’t want to cheese the win with Murlocs try out the following list! Click the deck title to read the guide on how to play this deck!

If you don’t have all these fancy Shaman cards the Neutral Murloc list will do the job for you.

Click the deck title to read the guide on how to play this deck!

If you have the Renolock cards then I think you should try to beat him that way because it’s a fun battle, but Neutral Murlocs will do the job for you.

Click the deck title to read the guide on how to play this deck!

This to me is one of the best lists for defeating The Lich King with Warrior. Stall out the game and finish him with huge Frothing Berserkers!

I’ve just recently started playing HS again, after a pause of about 3 years. I have absolutely no wild cards, because I broke them all to make a decent ladder deck (Rank 3 for the past 2 seasons, so thankfully that worked out). Anyway, I realized that all the guides for LK on the internet use wild cards, so I’ve been fighting solo. I have already beaten him with Druid, Priest, Warlock and Mage and I wanted to share the decks, to help fellow players like me. So, here we go:
Druid: Ladder Midrange Token Druid Deck (first try win)
Priest: Inner Priest (Inner Fire+PW;Shield+Divine Spirit combo on Unpowered Steambot=easy win if you get the right mulligan)
Warlock: Healer Zoolock (July 2018) if you get Keleseth early, the fight is a lot easier.
Mage: Custom (really poor) Murloc Deck. Only used Grimscale Oracle, Tidecaller, BG Warrior, Tidehunter, Rockpool Hunter, Seer and Lookout. Mirror Image, Ice Barrier and Vaporize spells are a must and in order to win you should also get them on the right moment (ideally from the first or second round). I added one Blizzard and one Flamestrike, to have a way past round 7, but after many attempts, the two boosted Tidecallers did the trick. I will keep you updated about my progress with the rest of the classes.

Rogue: I just buffed Vicious Fledgling while protecting it with many many taunt minions. (Basically a deck similar to Odd Rogue, without the spell cards. Tar Creepers, Fungalmancers, Cobalt Scalebane, Unpowered Steambot, Leeroy Jenkins etc)
Warrior: The best strategy is to buff and protect Frothing and Gurubashi Berserkers like crazy. The Patron Warrior and Siege Engine deck version was useless in my case. I kept my taunt minions for the third phase and until then I just shielded up. Round 6 Brawl (necessary to win imo) on trapped souls; it gives you time to set your Berserkers and taunt minions before the third phase. Wax Elementals are really useful at that time, because of their Divine Shield and low cost.If the Berserkers are protected and buffed, they can end it easily with face damage.
Hunter: rush win or restart. 3 cards did the trick after many attempts: Scavenging Hyena+ Crackling Razormaw +Unleash the Hounds (to sacrifice them and buff Hyena). Stitched Tracker is very useful to pick another Razormaw. Hyena HAS to be in mulligan and must not get Obliterated. LK must be defeated before round 7 or else restart.
Shaman: rush game with Murlocs. Murloc Tidecaller on mulligan is a must. Windfury, Earthen Might and Flametongue Totem did the trick after many attempts. Bloodlust is cool for a finisher.
Paladin: Pala was one of the hardest for me. I tried to rush by boosting Young Dragonhawk. Deck full of Pally spells and only 2 Argent Protectors and 2 Dragonhawks for minions. Best case scenario is Dragonhawk+Blessing of Wisdom on mulligan. Adaptation, Blessing of Might and Blessing of Kings are very very helpful but it’s just a game of luck because of Obliterate. With Blessings of Kings, Sound the Bells, Divine Shields and healing (Holy Light), the Dragonhawk can get sick health, so it can survive alone the second phase and win during the third phase. Deck with murlocs is useless because of the Fallen Champions.
Took a lot of time and efforts and it surely needs patience.

hi folks, im stucked on beating lich king with our friend garrosh. i was able to beat him with all other 8 classes but i can’t, really i’m not able to beat him with warrior. maybe is because i didn’t have some blackrock cards but i tried wit a quite full parton warrior. the best i did was take him to 18 health.
now that the kobolds are out i tried to build some decks with those new cards but nothing changed. so the question comes itself: need a good deck/strategy to beat this mothersweatness down.
    HELP 😀

TLK was a rough fight for me; I got through it but absolutely NEEDED Siege Engine, Armorsmith, and Grim Patron to be on the board at same time. Turn 5 Grim Part was almost a must… unless u have maybe Doomsayer on 4 (into 5 to clear) and GP in hand with cards to damage it and Armorsmith and Berserker or SE ready to plop down too. U need Armorsmiths to build up armor so u don’t get killed by the hero power after Frost Mourne is down. And Siege Engine works wonders here to build up attack points to get through that 130 armor. Grim Partons should be used for trading, and be careful that u always have one at 3 health or u risk loosing them all to blizzard. Keep one in your hand, or use Blood Warriors to get more copies of Siege Engine, Armorsmith, Grim Patron. Chromaggus worked well for me in late turns with those 6 cards on board besides.
I also read that Alarm-o-Bot warrior works well but u have to mulligan perfectly with Alarm o bot and a big body taunt on turn 2 so Alarm is safe when played on turn 3. The just get the biggest non-battlecry minions u have (craft some of the common ones?) and proceed to hit face and trade well.

        Good luck!

Thank you for the advices i finally did it using a deck with kel’thuzad and scaled nightmare, i stomped him with a 8 milion attack scaled dude hahahaah. Anyway i tried the same deck you suggest but always dying with him at 18-20 health. Btw thank you for the plenty of your answer 🙂

I didnt use murlocks any time cause i dont have them and i dont want to craft them.
Only 1 card I had to craft was 1x Molten Giant (hunter)

Druid: budget jade (without legendary) – easy

Paladin: quest (few litle costed minions and tons of buffs) – quite easy

Shaman: tokens + bloodlust – quite easy

Hunter: used deck with 1x molten giant, 1x Vicious Fledging – i never play hunter so i had bad cards i rly had to craft one giant and even with it it was rly hard

Priest: Inner Fire – easy, just added PW:Horror

    Warlock: some renolock – easy

Rogue: C’Thun deck with taunts and doomsayers – hard, but i dont play agro and i had no idea how to kill him (at the end i killed him withou C’Thun, cause every time in late game he just don come to hand :D)

Mage: Exodia mage with 1x Counterspell and 1x Cabal Lackey – quite easy (2 tries) but mulliganing to that starting counter was painful

Warrior: Brawl + Obsidian Destroyer lockdown in Frostmourne phase, buffing berserker – easy

Most painful was mage, hunter and rogue. Bus i rly enjoyed playing that ‘heroic’ adventure. GJ Blizzard!!!

I found, using Murlocs with Mage that the little Deadscale Knight (1/1 Lifesteal) became invaluable just to give a little health buffer… I think I had something like 20 health when I won because the Knights were buffed up so much.

  7. Tyrano
    August 28, 2017 at 9:49 pm

Warrior and mage seem just incredibly difficult. I finally got mage completed earlier after crafting the molten giants. Going to try crafting the patrons and get that to work… I made the alarm-o-bot deck first but even when I can keep it on the board long enough to switch out with a giant minion he just throws up saronite chain gangs. “How long can this go on? Forever apparently! ????

What an odd “challenge”. They should have named him the “Restart”-King, Inspiration of Murlocs!

Well, finally that is done. Seven of nine – yes, seven of nine – challenges were completed with Murloc rush decks winning before the Frostmourne phase. It was odd to pull that off with Rogue, Priest, Mage, and Hunter – classes with no Murloc synergy. Shaman & Warlock were easy; Paladin took the most time before I succeeded with a deck that was Murlocs + Megasaur + lower cost buff spells and curved into Tinyfin + Divine Strength for 2/3 into Rockpool into Warleader into Megasaur; no Obliterate = GG before Blizzard turn.

Druid was easy with Ramp; during Frostmourne phase Spreading Plague + Strongshell Scavenger; next turn Kel’Thuzad and beatdown follows…

Warrior was done with the Patron list above with subs (Kel’Thuzad, Tar Lord, Fool’s Bane); finally won while actually a turn into fatigue; that game during Frostmourne phase had all three sub cards and Patron; Patrons stuck to the board the rest of the way and got a big Commanding Shout turn with Frothing Berzerker and Armorsmith. After Obliterates and Blizzards had to finish with Patron beat down.

The best Druid deck against Lich king is:

    Jade idool
    Wild groth
    innervate
    Jade blossom

    And then 1-3 drop minions…

    Easy win

That’s how I did too. I tried the suggested deck, but didn’t luck out. The Lich King likes the play the right cards at the right time to escape death.

I just have Hunter and Paladin to go.

Hi Evident, Im here to give an extra information that actually murloc hunter and murloc warrior work on Lich King !!!

Hunter will face problem of 2 dmg per minion in the deck, but i reduced the number of minions to 17 (15 or 16 murlocs with Gentle Megasaur), and fill the other 13 with suitable hunter spells. Our goal is to draw at least 3 murlocs in the starting 4 hand (including 1st draw). Control the board, play around, like other classes do, should win in just a few tries. (3rd try for me)

Warrior faces 130 armor + 30 hp, but murlocs still can win. I tech in fools bane and commanding shout. Fools bane can be used after turn 7 to help clearing the 2/6 souls. The win condition here is to keep both warleader survive on board b4 turn 7 (it can be discovered by primalfin lookout too), and on our turn 7, which just b4 lich king’s 7th turn, we have to summon bilefin tidehunter, and make sure we have only 5 minions on board when we summon it. The taunt summoned by bilefin will protect our warleader from lich king’s weapon atk. Clear the board with double buffed murlocs by warleader, win should not be a problem.

Basically, i suggest the most budget way to beat lich king is by using Evident’s murloc guide to win as the 6 classes, and use these 2 decks i mentioned above to win as hunter and warrior, and a jade druid.

i really hope Evident read this and write a guide bout murloc hunter and murloc warrior to defeat lich king, if u need my help im always here willing to help 🙂
Have a good day Evident, u did a very good job on this site!

I made a similar deck. Double molten giant and deck full of cheap taunt and direct damage spell. The idea is to get to 4/6 hp on turn 2. Play double giant turn 2 + an aggressive taunt and force TLK to trade is your taunt every turn while you pummel his face with the giant. Worked really well once you get the two giant in you first 5 cards

For Druid this deck made it for me.
Basically Ysera, Living Mana and Power of the Wild after round 7+

I completed 8 of 9 without consulting anything, but I’m not able to do the warlock one (I do not have the Reno and I can’t craft it right now). Any idea how to do it without him?

1º Druida= standard jade (in one try)
2º Shaman= standard evolve (in one try)
3º Priest= standard big priest (in two tries – same deck)
4º Warrior= standard quest warrior (in one try)
    5º Rogue= N’Zoth (in two tries, 1º with standard jade and 2º with N’Zoth)
6º Hunter= “with a shitty control” (in three or four tries – 1º with a standard midrange 2º(…) with Barnes+Y’Shaarj and deathstalker)
Xª Warlock= I tried in several ways without Reno, but without success
7ªMage= (kabal lackey+counterspell) + “control mage” with Alexstrasza and arcane giants (in like +/-3hours of attempts >.<)
    8ªPaladin= control + C'Thun (in two tries – 1º with a standard control and 2º with C'Thun)

I did it with quest warrior… So… It’s not impossible at all! For you it may be a problem with the list you are running. Due to the current meta I dont run sleep with fishes and all the tipical draw+armor cards. Instead, my deck has a heavier taunt minion presence and achieves a faster and more consistent quest finalization.

Another way to win with druid is an astral communion deck. Just add 1 or 2 astral communion and innvervate(1 if you are patient). And concede until you have both at the start, and just fill the rest of you deck with big creatures.

    • Forrest88
      August 25, 2017 at 8:18 pm

So the bug is really simple, but mostly works with Warrior or Paladin only.

During “Frostmourne” mode on Turn 7, drop either a Brawl (Warrior) or Enter the Coliseum (Pakky) and make sure the Lich King has only one spirit minion left. On the next turn, drop Kel’Thuzad & any taunt minion with power 0.

Voila! The Lich King becomes “frozen” in the sense that he doesn’t do anything and just passes the turn. Yes, he does NOTHING, even if he has a spell to get rid of your Kel’Thuzad. Next, you can start dropping your threats. Personally, I prefer Scaled Nightmare as my finisher but it’s really up to you how you want to smash his face in.

P.S. If you drop another taunt minion on the board with power 1 or above, the Lich King comes “alive” again so do avoid that if you want to exploit this bug. Cheers!

      • Spoutinwyze
        September 2, 2017 at 9:09 am

        Bug Fixed:
Spent 400 dust making the pally card “Enter the Coliseum”, instructions I understood were to play this card on turn 7, however if I did that, he would still have frostmourne and all spirits. So I assumed you meant to drop it on turn 8 to clear his spirits. I did that but all it did was set his board back as normal. He has no frostmourne and no spirits, all removed and it didn’t leave his largest.
SO the card doesn’t do as advertised but I’m sure they adjusted this specific interaction to avoid people cheating on him.

        • Spoutinwyze
          September 2, 2017 at 12:01 pm

SO last comment the Lich had a full table as pally and it cleared all spirits. This time, he didn;’t have a full board before Turn 7 and it kept a spirit minion, BUT he was still invulnerable with frostmourne so having a taunt I don’t think would help me at all being that I couldn;t do face dmg.

    Druid: Jade
Hunter: Molten giants. Milligan for them and if they don’t get obliterated, taunting them and with a bit of board control from the other cards, they kill him before turn 7 and frostmourne.

Mage: again molten giants, same procedure. Did it getting life from mistress of mixtures and armor from secret, plus some of his spells from mana bind.

Paladin: don’t have murloc warleaders and don’t want to craft them. Done it with dragonhawk ( 1 cost 1/1 windfury) dinosized, blessed champion doubling its strength and cloned with faceless manipulator. It requires several tries, with a doomsayer before frostmourne that wipes the board twice, being resurrected on his side. And there is need to heal with forbidden healing and other cards. Board controls with pro, and hope he does not draw the cards to kill the dragonhawk.

Priest: done with big priest without ysharajj. Crafted the obsidian statues. They made me win.

Rogue: N’Zoth deck but Reno version. Tried it 2x but I was getting to much damage. With some control card, and using Reno, managed to kill him one turn before losing.

Shaman: murlocs, without warleader. Discoverd one with the discover murloc, cast anyfin +2/+2 to all, killed him before frostmourne.

Warlock: super easy with demon Reno lock with DK gul-dan.

Warrior: patron warrior. Managed to keep on the board a frothing berserker that reached 50 strength in the end. Foolishly cycled all the deck with both battle rages, and killed him the turn before losing.

You can cheese Paladin just like Warrior. You just need to use shieldbearer and clear the board with a Enter the Coliseum.

Challenging? Definitely. Fun? Naaah, don’t think so.

One has to have a very masochistic character to play this through with all 9 classes. I mean … Blizzard even implemented a restart button because 95% of the time, the games are decided with your opening hand.

Add to the fact that newer players with a small cardpool don’t even have the slightest chance to win with more than one class (Jade Druid is a walk in the park, I dunno why) and what you have is more UNfun imho.

What I don’t understand is the fact that most of the time it seems to be impossible to make those adventures ‘balanced’ – on one side there are those ‘100%-luck-DOOM-ultra-nightmare-mode’ experiences (most bosses from the old adventures, Lich King), on the other side they’re too easy (League of Explorers, One Night in …).

That said, 3 to go (Paladin, Mage, Hunter) and God, how I hate the Lich King by now. Hmmm … what does that tell about my character … 😉

Try evolve shaman. I got it first time with my ladder deck. It was pretty easy to get a full board and then Bloodlust for the win. I can link my list if you want.

I didn’t have all the cards in that Reno list, so I had to make multiple substitutions. Fortunately this deck did work, just took 2 tries to beat him. Uses Patron/ Spreading Madness instead of a few of the high end legendaries. If you don’t have Rafaam, Elise, or Rag they can be subbed for other threats like Sylvannas, I didn’t even play them in the game I won. It’s honestly a pretty flexible deck you just really need the board clears.

I used molten giants with hunter, have to mulligan to get 2-3 creatures in your hand (with 1 molten+) and then you can play molten giant turn 2 and start off faster than him. Gotta dodge a few removals, but it might be easier to set up/ construct than the listed hunter deck.

As for Mage combat, it is actually easy. Make an elemental control Mage deck with the new Jaina card. Add Kabal Lackey + Counterspell. The goal is simple, you need to start the game with Kabal Lackey and Counterspell to deny him his spell that takes you down to 1 HP.

    • TheVoicesInYourHead
      August 25, 2017 at 7:21 am

I have to say I’m a bit bamboozled as to how you beat him with hunter and mage with only murlocs, as with the former you would be nearly or completely killed off in the first turn, and with the ladder would be dead in the following few turns unless you made constant trades. How did you manage to manage to pull off surviving that AND killing TLK before turn 7?

      • Whiplash
        August 28, 2017 at 6:39 am

Your deck will be 0-4 mana cost minions and spells. You need to restart until you get a good start. If Lich King has a 1-cost drop you have to kill it — Tidecaller then Rockpool Hunter will work. Mage Frostbolt will work.
You probably need Warleader by turn 3; Megasaur or another Warleader turn 4. You can’t lose minions in trades. Hunter and Mage have good cheap direct damage for board control or lethal face.
If Lich King has Obliterate or Blizzard you may not get there before Frostmourne.

    • NoCheese
      August 25, 2017 at 12:30 pm

Yup, aggressive Murlocs were what I used for Shaman, Rogue, Warlock, Paladin, and Warrior. I used Secret Mage and a poor man’s Big Priest for those classes’ fights, but Murlocs would have been just fine for those battles too. The only places where Murlocs don’t work are Hunter and Druid. Hunter I went with Barnes shenanigans, and Druid was of course Jade Druid.

With the murlocs, restart agressively until you get a good draw and if you snowball well, you can kill before turn 7. Blizzards and the kill spell targeting your warleaders hurt, but with a few tries, it’s not too bad even in classes with zero Murloc support beyond the neutrals. I don’t have Old Murk Eye, but I’m sure it would be even easier with him. Don’t let the Lich King’s anti-warlock spell make you think you need to use a highlander deck. Double up on the key murlocs, eat the first turn damage, and snowball and win.

Paladin was tough, but if you are able to hit your Warleaders and keep things from dying (Good Megasaur evolves help a lot) you can get it done. I’d advise using a couple of hungry crabs there to defend against stolen murlocs. Warrior also took a number of tries, as the armor means you’ll have to fight through Frostmorne, and the initial weapon swing will almost always try to take out a Warleader. The longer battle also gives the Lich King more time to draw his blizzards and kill spells, which can be devastating. Setting up a big Divine Shield, +3 health, or +3 attack evolve is really helpful for muscling through the Frostmorne turn, as is Commanding Shout. Battle Rage is great for a midgame hand refill, and a timely Blood Warriors or Splended Genesis can let you cheat more Warleaders into the game. Insist on good starting hands, and be prepared to accept some frustrating losses, and you’ll succeed in time.

Guys, Murloc Hunter works! I used 16 murlocs + 1 gentle megasaur and 13 spells to beat lich king, u just need to draw 3 murlocs on the first 3 hand + 1 draw. Hope this can help 🙂

i beat lich king with this deck, i made sure i got doomsayer before turn 7 and and dropped right before he dropped frostmoune, then I used DK Rexxar to make lifesteal minions, preferably bearshark and the 5 cost slug, since it cant be targeted and has 8 life steal, to get me back up healthwise his hero kiept killing me after 7. medivh is there in case you drop him turn 8, call of the wild turn 9, also this deck falls within current standard since thats all I play, no wild cards

I started playing since Un’Goro so I don’t have all those Wild Cards, will there be Decks who don’t contain them?

    • SqDnEsS
      August 25, 2017 at 9:27 am

I also started playing since Un’Goro and I found a way to defeat the Lich King using a super cheap Jade Druid. The deck only has 2 Jade generating cards which are Jade Idol and Jade Blossom. I put 2 Gadgetzan Auctioneers in it to cycle my Jade Idols. I put a Moonglade Portal to heal myself in case I get low but you can replace that with Healing Touch. I also put in 2 Innervates since extra mana is useful and I put in 2 Wraths and 1 Swipe for early game removal. The rest of the cards are some random 1 mana minions. This deck uses the Lich King’s OP card against him since he will remove all minions that cost 3 or less wherever they are so your deck will be smaller and you can rely less on RNG and you can start cycling your Jade Idols a lot earlier. The tricky part is to get your Gadgetzan Auctioneer on the board and keep him alive. To do that you have to generate Jade Idols fast and get at least a 5/5 Jade Idol before turn 7.

This boss is awful for the reward. The rewards for beating him should not have been some shit ass hero skin, it should have been the HERO CARDS yours turns into after beating him. Fucking bullshit game, 2 expansions and I still have not got a Quest Card or the new OP. Pay to win.

Get a punching bag cause you have a complaint and reason a 4 year old could unravel. It’s crybaby nonsense.

I started with a standard warrior pirate deck, removed arcanite reaper, the mortal and heroic strikes, leeroy…I added 2 sudden genesis’ and blood razors and a brawl. Cant say it was easy but its pretty much… Get him to waste his obliterates on the captains, brawl the trapped souls and get a berserker to wound and double them. You just need the right card at the right time.

  27. David

      • Dibullba
        August 24, 2017 at 9:26 pm

There is a cheesy strat you can do with four of the classes. Warrior especially makes good use of it for ripe abuse. You just need 4 cards (a 5th for warrior) which are two Shieldbearers, Kel’Thuzad, and Scaled Nightmare (Violet Illusionist with Warrior for 5th). The idea is simply during the Frostmourne phase to kill off 4 of the 6 spirits and then use KT cheese to stall infinitely while either drawing into your Scaled Nightmare or allowing it to gain K.O damage when spirits are killed. The four classes you can do this with is Warrior, Warlock, Priest, and Mage. You could probably do it with Druid too, but Jade druid does not really need cheese.

This is a terribly designed boss. Making it so you have to play decks with outrageous crafting costs is bad design and is in no way fun. I was expecting a fun AND challenging boss battle that would require me to think outside of the box. But when thinking outside of the box requires me to craft cards expensive cards for a PvE boss, then it’s not worth it. Sorry, but Blizzard messed up with this one.

      August 24, 2017 at 7:47 pm

so they messed up creating a free end game style challenge that you couldn’t beat on the first day without any effort or investment? yeah sounds like THEY messed up for sure. these lists are just what the known people have beat it with. the more expensive cards do give an advantage.
you want fun and challenging, went online looking for ideas, and complain you cant think outside the box. is that box your computer screen? i beat it with big ramp style druid so far with little to no investment other than what i already had. it was a pretty basic idea to avoid the spell blowing up my early by making all my early game ramp stuff to bigger things and swarm effects and pump spells. not a single jade card. still took a few attempts, timing, and a good draw.

      keep trying, stop whining.

just looking at those turn 1 cards is frustrating. warlock and priest get off so easy. its almost like blizzard wants those to be easy mode. warrior has to definitely max damage, maybe quest warrior could do it. but damn, the others are like crawling up a rocky cliff while pouring salt into your open wounds and having your high school gym teacher riding your back and screaming insults into your ear.

    • Dmoney
      August 25, 2017 at 8:18 pm

You are bitching like it would be better if it were harder so we spend more dust on old ass cards. Just cause you have no ambition to kill the lk with all 9 classes doesn’t mean it should be harder and more costly for others. Be happy there are some easier less costly classes or stfu.

I just used 1 dmg minions /spells with rot til i got a turn where i could get 4 leggos out and patrons with berserker and armorsmith out. Eventually i got a powerhouse board he couldnt clear. Healing my minions up with darkscale healer was the clincher. Let me use my 1 dmg hero power 2 more times and that is a ton of dmg with a full berserkers / patron board.
