Really this card is broken. It could be made a lot better by changing it to – Opponents minions devolve at the end of your turn.

I disagree, this card is an insane tech choice that you’ll be able to utilize in heaps of situations in controlish shamans or even midrange. I think this card is actually really good, you can transform N’zoth minions so they wont be summoned to deal with sylvanas (like the other dude was saying about hex). You can deal with stealthed gadgetzans+questing. You can significantly lower the power of an enemy board before you trade for only 2 mana which is really low, also considering all the buffing minions from the grimy goons this will be even better, random drops are so much worse than ones people play so this will help you trade your board in super nicely. I guess we’ll wait and see how this card goes but my wager is it will see a fair amount of constructed play.

Dude, this fucks one drops sideways, any good six drop is now a Big Game Hunter and it on top of that, it can deal with a lot of Yog plays, this card needs more hype!

      November 23, 2016 at 3:49 pm

I disagree. It’s like a 3rd hex, only less powerful but with aoe effect. Can work on silvana, doomsayer murlocs and lots of other things. Two might be overkill. Bringing one is not a bad idea.

What do you wanna bet? I guess we’ll wait and see if this card is used but i reckon this card will guaranteed, see play in constructed and your evaluation is pretty bad tbh. I’m legit interested in a wager if you want

I don’t think this card is going to be as good as people are saying for a few reasons
    – It is not an all out counter for rag or Tirion. It does not silence them it transforms them , potentially into an Archmage or a Baron Geddon which is a new threat to deal with. Best case scenario you transform them into an Ancient of Lore and in that case your better off using Tinkmaster Overspark.
    – It does not act as an aoe removal for large boards. This card doesn’t actually destroy anything it just creates a board of slightly smaller minions which aggro decks won’t really mind at all. sure you can follow it up with a lightning storm but that costs two cards, five mana and you overload for two. Plus even then you might not clear the whole board
    – There are a handful of minions that this is actually ineffective or bad against including Thing from Below, Azure Drake, Arcane Giant, Yogg, Alexstraza, Ysera, mire keeper and many other battle cry minions
    – While it does counter buffed grimy goons cards you can play around it like any aoe spell by not overextending and playing all your buffed cards at once

      November 23, 2016 at 5:07 am

You are forgetting a pretty big point here:

Mostly all of the new aggro-decks are gonna center around the fact that they can be buffed, either on the board or from the hand. All the buff effects will vanish as soon as they are devovlved.

For example, it looks a lot like Paladin is going to rely heavily on 1mana creatures in this expansion. They are gonna get buffed from the hand, then layed down on the board as huge threats. With Devolve in play, however, all those buffed minions are gonna turn into either 1/1 Whisps, 1/1 murloc babies, or 0/2 Target Dummies. In other words, this card will leave the paladin board useless and extremely vurnarable to things like Lightning Storm.

      • Jonnychill
        November 23, 2016 at 7:26 am

Yeah your definitely right its a good counter for a board full of buffed minions or 1 mana minions. But so is pyromancer equality and pint sized potion shadow word horror neither of which overload you like lightening storm. So does that really mean aggro paladin is unplayable because of all these counters

The counter to aggro has always been aoe and always will be but a smart player can play around cards like this by not overcommiting all of its threats to the board or bating out devolve early. Im not saying devolve is bad i just dont think it is broken or makes aggro paladin obsolete. But i could be wrong we will see

        • DtxStardust
          November 25, 2016 at 4:31 am

I definatly dont think its gonna make aggro pala obsolete, by no means, but it is still a very cheap, 1card counter to the whole of a paladin-board. Even without Lightning Storm or Maelstrom Portal, the devovle in itself will be devastating for the paladins board.

Of course this card is not going to be game breaking in every match. But here are my toughts :

      – You think it is bad against things from below, so please tell me which 5 mana minion is really better than a 5/5 taunt. Same thing for azure drake, most of the time you kill the drake just because he has spell power.

      – Creating a board of slightly smaller minion is really strong for shaman because the only AOE are lightning storm and maelstrom portal (elemental destuction is not used in the meta)

      – Devolve will destroy murloc OTK paladin

      – Devolve will fucked up N’zoth decks (still good against C’thun)

      – Devolve will act as a cheap Mass dispell versus buff

      – Devolve remove stealthed Cadgetzan auctioneer

      – Devolve might creat a doomsayer (don’t tell me it is never gonna happen, just remeber Piloted shredder or evolve)

      – Devolve smash classic midrange shaman : Flameweather / totems / golem totem

      – Devolve counter the grimmy goons tribe

So This card in the worst match up is just balanced (slightly under powered for ranked), but it is completly broken against combo decks( execpt Malygos druid) and against high synergistic decks (n’zoth, murloc etc).

      • Jonnychill
        November 23, 2016 at 7:45 am

Your right in certain matches this card is very strong N’Zoth especially and against overload cards like flamewreath and totem golem.

The reason i say its not very good against azure drake, thing from below and even gadgetzan auctioneer. Is because in a lot of scenarios it won’t turn them into weaker, easy to kill minions just different ones

Thing from below or auctioneer could become azure drake, doomgaurd, earth elemental, grimestreet enforcer, stranglethorn tiger, psycho tron, or any of the 5 mana 5/6 or 6/5s

Azure drake could become violet teacher, savage combatant, flamewreathed faceless, hungry dragon, tomb pillager or any other 4/5 or 5/4

As far as the combo with maelstrom portal or lightening storm there are similar combos out there like wild pyromancer equality or pint sized potion shadow word horror which are strong but not op. I think this card will be very good like you said against certain decks but also inconsistant and situational

So in the opinion of the people i read Priest is broken, shamman is broken, jade golems are broken, hunter is broken, all the classes are broken! I just think this expansion brings lots of good cards and that the meta will change a lot so its too early to say what is broken or not.

I think you guys are overvaluing this card. It doesn’t actually destroy anything and I think it has too high a randomness factor to be used in midrange shaman

  13. AlanDR
    November 22, 2016 at 1:28 pm

I think this is not doing the job.. Blizz should finally give shaman a card 4 mana = “destroy all enemies and win the game” so that all matches are just decided by who draws that first.. between shamans of course… The game is like this now already and the game will be like this with the new expansion, we just need that “destroy all enemies” card to be completely clear about what this game really is

This card is absurd, this is almost like a mass Hex. If you’re playing a N’zoth deck, you can concede every match against shaman rightnow.

But the enemy Deathrattle minions do not die but instead transform. I think the big deal is to deny N’zoth its targets.

    November 22, 2016 at 1:09 pm

…. I have no comment…. this card is just good in the same shaman shit, it’s more “silence” affects on the minions you desperately need to stick, and it’s not fun to play against, they haven’t nerfed any of the midrange shaman list, it’s just as it stands for the next 5 months, it’s just gonna be more of this… forget the Reno-Kazakus meta, forget anyfin pally, N’zoth ANYTHING, c’thun ANYTHING, just watch as your win conditions get hopelessly countered and you just get rushed in the face when you need to stabilize desperately with a good minion

I want to see this devolve cards into flamewreathed faceless or totem golem: shamans giving themselves a taste of their own medicine. Certainly a good card, but it can be highly detrimental to the caster.

haha…. rogue gets absolutely nothing good so far, and shaman and druid get more crazy. Meta in good shape lol. This card doesn’t even suffer from the aoe increase of msg. 3 cost card into doomsayer will be fun for opponent. great job blizz

  26. Eyepatch
    November 22, 2016 at 11:54 am

Wow blizzard good job you just did a 2 for 1. You made shaman better and nullified all the new things 3 entire classes are getting, namely the grimmy goons (paladin, warrior and hunter RIP). Shaman will have an automatic advantage against 1/3 of the match ups. What’s the matter blizzard? Shaman not broken enough? They don’t have enough board clears?? Not only is transforming a broken slap in the face mechanic but now its a full board hex then AoE. Nzoth board? no Problem 2 mana make your entire deck useless. Oh yea silence had to be nerfed and taken away from ladder but morphing minions with valuable effects and stats into easily removable nothings for cheap mana cost is fine. Pretty close to abandoning the game i love most……NICE ONE!!!

  27. Big Ol' Bear
    November 22, 2016 at 11:53 am

I appreciate a mechanic like this; but honestly, I am so tired of blizzard making shaman and other classes better in the WORST of ways.
“Shaman is a bad class? Lets pump it full of steroids, that seems like a good idea.”
“What? Ladder is filled with THE SAME BORING MID-RANGE SHAMAN at most ranks? Better buff shaman!”

rather than making insane cards, they should honestly just fix whats already broken.
what happened to the annoying overload mechanic that ACTUALLY kept shaman in check? that seemed to disappear with their sense of balance.

    • Bingo
      November 22, 2016 at 2:19 pm

I think this card will make shaman that much more OP. It’s good for a control deck if the other has a full board or to combine with a thunder storm but it isn’t cancer at all. This card can be valuable, but it’s difficult to optimise and can be risky to play. It’s good against N’zoth decks but that don’t kill N’zoth at all. It just reduces the power of one-card win conditions and zoo deck, with a funny random effect.

  35. Brian
    November 22, 2016 at 11:12 am

Gotta say, with all the new buff cards in to game now, this card is pretty broken. not only do you get rid of the buffs of aggro cards, but you absolutely destroy combo decks with minions and get rid of the effects of powerful legendaries. Seems like a control card, I’m pretty sure it has enough value to see play in midrange.
