Blizzard just announced a new invitational tournament. It’s a showmatch between Europe and China, taking place on September 29. It will be streamed live out of Hangzhou, China, with a quite unique 4v4 team format.
Each team will prepare decks for all 11 classes, then ban 3 of their opponent’s classes (so they will be left with 8 classes each). Then each player will get assigned 2 decks. The goal is to defeat all of the opponent’s classes.
Europe is going to be represented by Thijs, Furyhunter, Bunnyhoppor and Gaby. Meanwhile the Chinese team will feature Chu Chu (雏雏), mlYanming (陌路烟明), LvGe (驴鸽), and Loatheb (洛欧塞布).
The total reward pool for this tournament is 400,000 RMB (about $56,000), with an extra incentive for the MVP. Player who takes down most opponents (no matter whether he’s from the winning or losing team) will get one year of exclusive use of a Hearthstone-themed Yangwang U9 supercar.

The Hearthstone International Showmatch features eight players from around the world battling it out in a live-streamed tournament! Taking place in Hangzhou, China on September 29, the global broadcast will be available on Hearthstone’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

Rules: 4v4 Team Format

The total prize pool for this tournament is RMB 400,000 ($56,120 USD*)
The winning team will receive RMB 250,000 ($35,075 USD*)
The runner-up team will receive RMB 150,000 ($24,552 USD*)
The player who defeats the most opponents will be named the tournament MVP and awarded one-year exclusive use of a Hearthstone-themed, customized Yangwang U9
