Tavern Pass’ Price Reduced by 50% Until The End of Expansion (And It Might Be a Good Time To Buy It)

Tavern Pass’ price was cut by 50% in the last patch, so if you were thinking about getting it, it might be a great time to do so. Normally, Tavern Pass costs 2500 gold or $19.99 / €19.99. After the price cut, it’s 1250 gold or $9.99 / €9.99.

So, why it seems like a good time to get it? Here are a few reasons:

  • It will last until the next expansion release, which is more than 2 months from now. Okay, technically we don’t know when the new expansion will get released, but it rarely launches at the very beginning of the month. For example, Descent of Dragons was released on December 10th. So if that was the case, you would get 2 months and 10 days of Tavern Pass (so more than half for half the cost).
  • Tavern Pass includes 4 Arena runs, and that didn’t change. Arena runs cost 150g each, so it’s better to get them for 1250g than for 2500g. If you play Arena, 4 runs already covered almost 1/2 of the price. We’re also in the middle of Dual Class Arena event, which might make the mode more interesting to play. And even if you don’t play Arena, 4 runs = 4 packs + some extra Gold/Dust if you retire them immediately.
  • A big Battlegrounds patch was just released, adding Elementals and shaking up the meta. It also added 4 new Heroes, which are unavailable for 2 weeks after launch unless you own a Tavern Pass. And one of those Heroes, Ragnaros, is by far the strongest Hero in Battlegrounds as of now (we expect a nerf soon, but hey, you can still play it until then).

Of course, if you only play Battlegrounds casually, from time to time, it’s probably not a good deal. You will do fine with picking from just 2 Heroes / run and having some of them delayed, which is the biggest downside of not having it (you’re also getting emotes & stats, but let’s be honest, those are just small extras).

You can get Tavern Pass in game or through Battle.net website.

    Discounted Tavern Pass, hmm
I was like “Wow, this is good”. Then I remembered I don’t play BG that much,
Then you got me like, “hmm, 4x Arena Ticket can possibly return my investment quickly”
And then I remembered my average Arena wins is only 3-4, and it doesn’t help.

So yeah. Tavern Pass? Hard Pass.

While I’m here, I would like to report a site bug. the site always glitching up and down on its own every second. Making it harder to read some article.
It’ll eventually stop after sometime, but still.

Just a note, I was able to play Ragnaros and I don’t have Tavern Pass. I think he’s open to everyone because he was in Battlegrounds before. The same thing happened with Patches when pirates were added.

Huh, that’s interesting. It doesn’t sound like it was intended, because even the official patch notes state that those heroes will be available starting October 13 for people without Tavern Pass. But it might work that way for the reason you’ve mentioned – because it’s not exaclty a “new” Hero.

Since Rag is the OP Hero it’s one less reason to buy the Tavern Pass, but I still think that it’s a good deal now for people who play Battlegrounds 🙂
