Official Description for A Peek to the Past

Let’s take it down a notch, there, brawler. Make a deck using only cards from the Basic and Classic sets, but none of those fancy Epics or Legendaries, ya hear?

A Peek to the Past Chalkboard

General Information

  • Earn a Classic card pack for your first win in this Brawl.
  • It’s the third time we see this Brawl. Last time we’ve seen it on October 4, 2017.
  • This is a PvP Brawl.
  • The Brawl has a custom format.
  • It’s a build your own deck Brawl.
  • It’s probably the most F2P-friendly build your own deck Brawl. You can use only Basic cards + Commons / Rares from Classic set. Which means that your options are heavily limited, but nearly everyone can build one of the best decks in the format.
  • It’s a bit like MTG’s Pauper format, although it takes it a step further, limiting the cards to Basic/Classic only on top of the rarity limits.

I love this brawl! I wish that you could add rules like this to make custom games. limiting the power of cards can actually make it very interesting to deck build and sometimes better play experience.

I quite like this brawl, it’s not full of random nonsense and everyone is on a even footing – Zoolock is still strong of course. This is what I’ve been using with some degree of success.

For when inner fire priest goes nuts, an old fashion ramp druid isn’t bad. I’ve also made a miracle rogue list that’s a lot of fun to play xD

I tried the Warrior deck and sucked hard with it (Warrior isn’t my best class admittedly) … I just wasn’t getting enough card draw and got facerolled by Warlock Zoo and cheap combo Rogue decks,

Switched to a basic Warlock Zoo and won straight away.

Why power overwhelming is not in the list?

Now we just need a brawl where you can only use Epics and Legendaries.
