Blood Magic – Standard Chalkboard

General Information

  • Earn a Classic card pack for your first win in this Brawl.
  • This is the fourth time we see this Brawl (Blood Magic), and a third time we see it in Standard format. Last time we’ve seen it on July 4, 2018.
  • It’s a PvP Brawl.
  • Brawl’s format is Standard.
  • It’s a build your own deck Brawl. Pick a class and build a regular Standard deck list.
  • The twist is that your spells cost health instead of mana. That’s why your deck should mostly consist of the spells for obvious reason.
  • Spells that draw cards are very important, since you can cycle through your deck quickly for “free”. Preferably ones that both draw and heal you at the same time – e.g. Lay on Hands or Overflow are amazing.
  • Then you need some sort of win condition – the Brawl is very combo-heavy. For some ideas, check out the list of decks below.

Blood Magic – Standard Deck Lists

Since the format is Standard, we can’t just use decks from previous Brawls. If you have any ideas, share them in the comments (preferably in a form of links to the decks created through our Deck Bulder) and I’ll feature them here!

Th HoboJed Demon Hunter list shown is a weak version.
Many of the cards are non-impactful. The weapon is only useful if hit by skull yet with this deck is optimal to play skull non-outcasted to get more turn time.

The following list is closer to optimal, Metamorphosis can be used instead of a nova however I prefer the board clear consistency for draw combos. Meta provides a technical first turn lethal however its unrealistic with the turn timer limit.

How is it possible a turn 1 otk ?

Hey Thanatos. I haven’t played the druid build, but presumably you draw through your deck with the multitude of draw spells. Then, between Lightning Bloom + Innervate + Nourish you can generate 9+ mana allowing you to cast your Malygos and then dump your hand of damage spells into your opponents face. Just make sure you don’t use BOTH copies of Nourish to draw, or you lose that first turn OTK ability.

        Good luck!

Spell damage shaman is nuts! Put in a witches brew and if you can hit an instructor fireheart, you’ll just burn your opponent out of the game with and heal with a net gain of 2 for each witches brew. You just need some card draw like mana tide totem and Vashi Prime. You could also put in some eye of the storms for big threats.

      1st turn:
Lightning Bloom x2 + Dwarven Archaeologist + Instructor Fireheart = Infinite Spells ))

    Broken Demon Hunter deck: https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/tavern-brawl-blood-magic-standard/

Blur makes you invulnerable to your spell damage, and you have enough draw to just keep going until you build up a lethal attack. If you had to pay some life, Warblades (which can be played for free if drawn off of Skull) can get it back for you.

I am amazed people netdeck still just for a brawl. I got my win immediately (with homebrew spell druid) in one match after which I quit playing most of time. I decide to play still for quest and got matched to blur DH of exact same list. Bravo!

Hey Evident, just try this OTK Druid.
Once you get Nourish or Ultimate Infestation, you just throw spells to death.
ONLY DRAWBACK is that you must be fast with the OTK (anyway you can easily win next turn).
Armor spells used properly can make us use the 30 cards without dying. The minion target ones are, of course, aimed to our Ghoul, or any opponent.
ADVICE: no fun, just get the pack and run.
    Moonfire x2
    Barkskin x2
    Claw x2
    Earthen Scales x2
    Wrath x2
    Ferocious Howl x2
    Gnash x2
    Healing Touch x2
    Bite x2
    Branching Paths x2
    Oaken Summons x2
    Swipe x2
    Nourish x2
    Starfire x2
    Ultimate Infestation x2
    – my pleasure –

Can’t use UI, it’s standard format. You can easily replace with Overflow, though.

Anymore, that is. Wish I could have tried this out years ago.

I had some success with a token druid build. Ultimate Infestation and Nourish for the draw, coupled with Spreading Plague or Whispering Woods for the wide board, coupled with Power of the Wild, Branching Paths, Soul of the Forest and Savage Roars for the finish. Oaken Summons into Ironwood Golem is a great way to get early board presence and taunt as well as a bit of healing.

I did it with a Paladin deck with 2x”sound the bells”, 2x “Young Dragonhawk”, 2x “Blessing of Kings”, 2x “Blessing of Might” and a bunch of cheap charge minions.

The idea was to play a young dragonhawk on T1 and buff him on T2 to at least 15 attack, but since i didnt draw him i went with the back up plan:

On turn 1 i played the coin, a Bluegill Warrior and buffed him with sound the bells and Kings up to 16/25 and attacked, my opponent surrendered on his T1. (it was risky cos the enemy might have killed me easily since i was left at 6HP)

I actually got decent value out of The Voraxx in a Paladin buff deck…

I played rogue with Immune weapon (Shadow blade i guess) and Immune minion (Violet Illusionist i guess) and sprints, saps, assasinates with coins, mimic pods thistle teas, and most important: questings, and Edwin.

Not the best deck in the world, but really fun one, and can create HUUGE edwins and questings.

Ultimate Infestation : 0 mana – Deal 5 damage, Deal 5 damage to self, Summon a 5/5, Draw 5 cards

    ‘Nuff said, peace out.

Very quickly this Brawl has degenerated to: Are you going first? Do you have Ultimate Infestation in your hand? If the answer to both is yes, you win, if no, you lose.

i disagree with this deck. This deck is quite bad to be honest, i won this deck using an aggro shaman. This deck lacks healing and spells just cost too much, therefore this deck is counted as one of the bad decks against aggro shaman.

I built a somewhat EZ BIG priest deck, so far 6-0, and winning by turn 2 on average.

Just mulligan for Free From Amber, Shadow Essence or Shadow Visions.
