The Hearthstone LATAM Twitter account tweeted what could be a clue to the next expansion. Reddit detectives have done some deciphering and I’m rounding up what I think makes the most sense below.
The Game is Afoot! Are we Headed to Duskwood?
The above image was tweeted out via the Hearthstone Latin America account with the following text (translated):
Looking for clues about the year of the crow [raven] our cast of characters meets the recent past… can you guess all the references? What’s your favorite? – Source
There’s a lot going on in this image so bear with me. A lot of it is reference to previous expansions, but the area that these detectives are in and what they are following provide clues to our future expansion! I’m going to detail it from left to right (also check out some more discussion on Reddit):
- Nail bat on the ground – Grimy Goons, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
- Yeti? Detective – Knights of the Frozen Throne
- Kazakus potion in tree – Kabal, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
- Human Detective – Possibly a reference to One Night in Karazhan, this isn’t as obvious.
- Dinosaur (Dino Costume? It has a seam on its chin…) Detective – Journey to Un’Goro
- Kobold Detective – Kobolds & Catacombs
- Background Tower – Karazhan
- Tentacle/Eye Tree – Whispers of the Old Gods
- Raven – Year of the Raven
- Jade partially buried – Jade Lotus, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
The likelihood of the tower being Karazhan heavily points to Duskwood as it is to the west of Deadwind where the tower is located. Now take a look at some screenshots of Duskwood, and then compare it to the teaser we have of the next three expansions and this makes it pretty clear that it will be a major part of the theme. If the detective angle is included or not remains to be seen, but it sounds like a very Hearthstone-esque way to approach an expansion! We also got maybe a slight hint from Mike Donais when he referred to someone as “Murloc Holmes” which again might point to a detective/mystery based expansion.
