Blizzard just posted a teaser of the upcoming balance update for Standard, Wild and Battlegrounds modes! It’s the second balance update after the The Embers of the World Tree mini-set – this time a much smaller one, simply because the current meta is significantly more balanced than the previous one.
In Standard, we’re getting four nerfs in total – to Rogue, Paladin and Druid. The nerfs mostly target uninteractive decks / decks that can throw out a lot of stats on the board earlier than they should (such as Cycle Rogue, Shanty Paladin or Spell Damage Druid).
In Wild, we’re getting exactly one nerf – Necrolord Draka. The card was already targeted multiple times, including in the last patch when Scabbs Cutterbutter got nerfed. But players have once again found a way to abuse it, so Blizzard decided to nerf it directly. And hopefully it will work this time, because Draka OTK Rogue has been one of the most controversial yet consistently strong Wild decks for a looong time now.
And finally, the Battlegrouds portion is focused on buffs. Do keep in mind that this is the “mid-season” update for Battlegrounds (normally it would happen in Patch 34.6, but there will be no .6 patch this expansion cycle) – as previously announced, the patch should also add Anomalies to the mode.
Until the full patch notes are released, we only know what cards are affected and not how! The patch will drop tomorrow (June 12), most likely around 10 AM PT. Patch notes are usually released an hour before the update itself. It’s not the official timing, but that’s how it works for most of those balance updates.
