Hearthstone Mercenaries PvP Party Comps – Best Teams and Strategies for PvP – October 2021

Hearthstone Mercenaries PvP is proving to be complex and skill-intensive. There are trillions of different comps possible, and the competitive meta has evolved constantly in the early days.

Unfortunately, there is a barrier to entry to high-level Mercenaries PvP because you need to level up your Mercenaries and many of them also need their task 7 equipment to shine. All of that takes a lot of time.

Overall, the Mercenaries you need can be divided into three categories:

  • Damage synergy – The win condition of your party. For example Nature, Fire, or Beast comps.
  • Speed manipulation – Speeding up your own abilities and slowing down the opponent’s abilities. These abilities are currently defining the PvP meta across almost all comps. For example Cairne Bloodhoof, The Lich King, and Varden Dawngrasp.
  • Tech choices – Mercenaries that help you to counter the popular damage synergy combos that players use. For example Tavish Stormpike against area-of-effect damage.

In this guide, we will present some of the best Mercenaries party comps currently available. You can think about the Mercenaries used in these comps through this lens: some of them form the damage-dealing core, others manipulate the speed of abilities, and some are purely tech choices. Recognizing the role each Mercenary plays in the party can help you substitute them with something from your own collection if needed.

Shadow PvP Party

The Shadow party consists of the following Mercenaries:

  • Varden Dawngrasp with Chilling Amulet
  • The Lich King with Frostmourne
  • Natalie Seline with Splinter of Nordrassil
  • Vol’jin with Ring of Haste
  • Cairne Bloodhoof with Reincarnation
  • Diablo with Black Soulstone

You open the game with Varden Dawngrasp, The Lich King, and Natalie Seline. Varden will Flurry to slow down the opponents and The Lich King will attack with Frostbite in the middle to slow down all opposing Mercenaries.

Vol’jin can come in from the bench to deal some fast damage and speed up Natalie Seline if she is still alive. Cairne can speed up your entire team. Diablo comes from the bench when the opponents are slowed down or you can speed it up to deal maximum damage with Fire Stomp.

Beasts PvP Party

The Beast party consists of the following Mercenaries:

  • Rexxar with Mama Bear’s Claws
  • King Mukla with Mukla’s Big Brother
  • King Krush with Flaming Claws
  • Vol’jin with Ring of Haste
  • Cairne Bloodhoof with Reincarnation
  • Diablo with Black Soulstone

You open the game with Rexxar, King Mukla, and King Krush. All characters have only one ability available on turn one, so the opener is quite clear. Most of the time, King Krush can just kill something already on the first turn, but the big question is how you can maintain your momentum. With no speed manipulation available, the second turn can be tough and you need to consider which abilities you can use before the Mercenaries are defeated.

Vol’jin can come in from the bench to deal some fast damage. Cairne can speed up your entire team. Diablo comes from the bench when the opponents are slowed down or you can speed it up to deal maximum damage with Fire Stomp.

There is also a recent anti-Diablo Beasts build from Korea:

  • Rexxar with Mama Bear’s Claws
  • King Mukla with Mukla’s Big Brother
  • King Krush with Flaming Claws
  • Vol’jin with Ring of Haste
  • Natalie Seline with Splinter of Nordrassil
  • Gruul with Dragon’s Skull

You use the same opener as with the standard build, but have Gruul on the bench to come in to counter Diablo’s Fire damage.

Fire PvP Party

Yellybug’s aggressive Fire party consists of the following Mercenaries:

  • Ragnaros with Blazing Rune
  • Baron Geddon with Mark of Conflagration
  • Antonidas with Cindercore Staff
  • Cairne Bloodhoof with Reincarnation
  • The Lich King with Frostmourne
  • Diablo with Black Soulstone

You open the game with Ragnaros, Baron Geddon, and Antonidas. The fastest damage opener is Antonidas’ Fireball, Ragnaros’ Magma Blast, and Baron Geddon’s Inferno. This opener can often instantly kill one of the opponent’s Mercenaries.

Later in the game, you can bring in the Cairne/Diablo duo to get a fast and deadly Fire Stomp, and finally The Lich King for some strong finishing attacks.

More recently, Fire builds have started to open up with speed manipulation and bring in Fire abilities as the battle goes on:

  • The Lich King with Frostmourne
  • Tavish Stormpike with Rigged Wiring
  • Varden Dawngrasp with Chilling Amulet
  • Cairne Bloodhoof with Reincarnation
  • Baron Geddon with Burning Bracers
  • Diablo with Black Soulstone

You open the game with a slowing-down comp of The Lich King, Varden Dawngrasp, and Tavish Stormpike.

Cairne can come in later with Diablo for Fire Stomp and Baron Geddon for Living Bomb or Inferno.

Nature PvP Party

Martim’s Nature party consists of the following Mercenaries:

  • Malfurion Stormrage with Liferoot Staff
  • Bru’kan with Lightning Rod
  • Guff Runetotem with Bramblethorn Totem
  • Cairne Bloodhoof with Reincarnation
  • Blademaster Samuro with Sash of Illusion
  • Diablo with Black Soulstone

You open the game with Malfurion Stormrage, Guff Runetotem, and Bru’kan. Malfurion opens with Cenarion Surge to make everything faster, Bru’kan uses Muddy Footing to slow the opponent down, and Guff Runetotem combos with Living Brambles. In later turns, Bru’kan has the option to go for Chain Lightning for area-of-effect damage.

Blademaster Samuro can come in from the bench to handle casters with Mirror Image. Cairne Bloodhoof and Diablo do their usual thing and Fire Stomp people down with the speed increase.

Samuro and Xyrella PvP Party Revisited

Blademaster Samuro and Xyrella were a hot couple of the first day, but various other teams have displaced them since. However, Samuro and Xyrella are far from done!

  • Blademaster Samuro with Sash of Illusion
  • Xyrella with Radiant Wand
  • Varden Dawngrasp with Chilling Amulet
  • Sylvanas with Death Volley
  • Cairne Bloodhoof with Reincarnation
  • Diablo with Black Soulstone

You open with the classic Blademaster Samuro, Xyrella, and Varden Dawngrasp. Xyrella uses Blinding Luminance on the target Samuro will attack with Double Strike while Varden uses Flurry to slow down the opponent.

Cairne and Diablo are ready to hit the board with none other than a sped-up Fire Stomp, and Samuro’s Mirror Images power up Sylvanas for one last assault with Reclaimed Souls if there are no good targets for For the Queen when she arrives at the board.
