Mulligans

General Mulligans

In the mulligan phase you are looking for your draw cards. Doomsayer is also a useful keep although ideally it should be kept to pair it with Frost Nova.

Introduction

This deck is an alternative take on the Time Warp OTK deck. As
its win condition it uses the ‘exodio’ combo featuring the infinite fireballs that
Archmage Antonidas can generate when four Sorcerer's Apprentice cards are on the
board as opposed to utilising Arcane Giants and Alexstraza.

Completing the quest

The Open the Waygate quest involves casting six spells that
didn’t start in your deck. This deck has six cards that can give you a total of eight such
cards namely Babbling Book, Primordial Glyph, Mana Bind and Cabalist's Tome
. This provides some redundancy in completing the test (in case any of the cards obtained cannot be cast) while at the same time not being excessive – ultimately due to the win condition of this deck you will need to draw through virtually your whole deck anyway. The cards not originally in your deck that are
obtained this way can also be used to help stall the opponent although there
will be a high degree of randomness in the usefulness of the cards obtained.

Surviving until the late game

Cards in this deck not focused on either completing the quest or achieving the combo serve to do one of two things – (a) draw through your deck quickly and (b) stall the opponent. For the former this deck runs Arcanologist, Bloodmage Thalnos, Novice Engineer, Arcane Intellect and Acolyte of Pain. In terms of stall the deck runs Ice Block, Blizzard, Meteor and the Doomsayer/Frost Nova combination.

Exodia combo

The basic premise of the win condition is that the extra
turn given by Time Warp (the reward for the Open the Waygate quest) gives you
sufficient mana to assemble four Sorcerer's Apprentice minions and Archmage Antonidas
on the board. The enabler for this is not only Time Warp but the new card
Molten Reflection that allows you to summon another copy of an existing minion
(in our case another Sorcerer's Apprentice).

After this any spell starts off the chain reaction of
Archmage Antonidas giving you a fireball. Due to the four Sorcerer's
Apprentice minions, this fireball costs zero mana so you can play and get another free
fireball etc. This should in theory allow you to kill the opponent that turn regardless
of their health or the state of their board.

To do the combo the following preconditions must be met: –

  • You have completed the quest i.e. the Time Warp
    card is in your hand.

  • You have at least eight mana crystals i.e. it is
    your Turn 8 or greater.

  • You have all of the combo pieces in hand – both Molten Reflection cards and Archmage Antonidas.

To perform the combo the following actions are then taken: –
