Mulligans

General Mulligans

In general I mulligan for my creatures that have decent health.  The silence options are plentiful enough that I don't tend to worry about getting those as a priority.  if you already have an Ancient Watcher or Humongous Razorleaf, a silence or purify is nice, and a Faceless Shambler is a good thing, too.

With the coin, a round three Humongous Razorleaf, followed by a round four Silence+Power Word Shield+Coin+Faceless Shambler is pretty nice, getting you a pair of 4/10 minions, one with taunt.  I've had some turn 5 wins when I had two Divine Spirits in my hand early enough, as doubling 8 twice is enough for an OTK.

Aggro Mulligans

Against aggro I find I really want to get the Sunfury Protector in my starting hand, with either a buff combo like Northshire+Power Word, or creatures with a lot more defense that you'd expect in the early game.  Ignoring a round 2 Ancient Watcher can be a mistake for Aggro, since you can have a 4/10 blocker on round 3 with the coin, eating his early offense.  Aggro is however a weak spot for this deck, as it takes time to build large enough defenses.

Silence-based deck.  Silence takes care of the new Adapt ability, as well as clearing taunts or letting Audrey, your Humongous Razorleaf, feed itself.

The 4/8 is a nightmare against other priests, as it’s the perfect size to not be targeted by the Shadow Word spells, and it’s got plenty of health to hold off when taunted.  Stranglethorn Tiger is a nice back pocket play against decks that can clear your big minions effectively, as you can play it and buff it over time, only using it once you are in OTK territory.

Mostly the play is to get your big health guys out and buff them to kill, but there are a few little combos that can be fun.  With 8 mana you can use Auchenai Soulpriest with a Hozen Healer to remove any size minion.   Freeze mages are generally surprised when you use silence to remove Frozen, and paladins  are often unaware that reducing Audrey to a 1/8 isn’t that effective, since the silence that frees it to attack will strip away the reduced attack value as well.

I’ve had a lot of fun, smashing 40/40 plants into enemies.  Hopefully others enjoy it too, even if the effectiveness is short-lived while people play with the new abilities.
