Mulligans

General Mulligans

You generally want to keep the quest in your opening mulligan. Unless you think you're facing a face/aggro deck, then throw it back and try to get babbling book instead since the book is your only other turn 1 play.

You always wanna keep Arcanologist in your mulligan. The card is great at fighting for the board early while also cycling through your deck. You wanna play both copies as soon as you can, to avoid not having a secret to draw later.

Doomsayer and Frostbolt is great against aggro and midrange decks to help stabilize the board.

Against Control and other slower decks, try to keep as much draw and spell generation effects instead.

The new mage quest allows for a new exodia combo:

 Sorcerer’s Apprentice — 2 mana                                                                                                                                                       Sorcerer’s Apprentice — 2 mana                                                                                                                                                            Molten Reflection — 2 Mana(Discounted)                                                                                                                                                Time Warp — 2 mana(Discounted)

 Extra Turn                                                                                                                                                                                              Archmage Antonidas — 7 mana                                                                                                                                                              Molten Reflection — 1 Mana(Discounted)

Infinite fireballs is <3

Of note that during the combo turn, it is possible to complete the quest on the same turn since you will have massive discounts on spells on that turn and if using the combo on turn 10 and beyond, there’s a lot of extra mana to spare. Cards like primordial glyph and Cabalist tome come in handy here.

I decided to run a bunch of one-offs in the deck, mostly spells. This is because since we are generating at most 7 random mage spells from the deck, it is very possible we find alternatives or copies of those one offs during the course of the game.

Obviously this deck is still very raw, a lot of testing will have to be done, as well as a lot of adjustments due to the meta. But I believe the deck stands a good chance at carving a spot for itself in the upcoming Ungoro meta.
