peasant helps to get the ball rolling since most classes can't deal with it on turn one, swashburglar gets you started fast, reconnaissance is a good but not great keep since it's a bit slower. Wildpaw gnoll is good but you may want to throw it away if it looks like you won't get him down before turn 3.
