Helya on curve is ideal, so holding her is good, but you really want Grain or Body Bagger to get your corpse count started right away. Chillfallen Baron is always good value on turn 3.
Hematurge is preferred to the Mortician for consistency on turn 2, same for Battlefield Necromancer, but you may have to hero power to create your first corpse if you whiff on a corpse generator.
Otherwise, focus on getting plagues stacked with the Primus Staff, Kvaldir, and Down With the Ship.
Plague package with blood cards for healing and removal.
Create corpses early and control the board through value trades, with cheap discover minions and removal to deal with mid game threats.
Become the Headless Horseman and watch your foes wither under an assault of plagues and pumpkins.
