Ahem, behold the non minion Hunter! Shocking i know. BUT they will get more spells and more weapons! I actually LOVE this card. It is so the opposite of hunter’s meaning. You could use your Death Knight to gain more minions without punishing your deck.

So they essentially want us to play a deck like this. Is there any universe where this is good?

    lesser emerald spellstone x2
    animal companion x2
    to my side x2
    call of the wild x2
    kill comand x2
    flanking strike x2
    eaglehorn bow x2
    tracking x2
    unleash the hounds x2
    deadly shot x2
    hunter secrets x8

Saw this card and my first reaction was to open YouTube and to watch the “Arnold Schwarzenegger bullshit compilation” ….

  4. SimGozz
    December 4, 2017 at 1:16 pm

So this card and the hunter legendary weapon “Rhok’delar” are awful in standard, BUT they will both work in a wild Yogg’N’Load deck. Very fun deck (although by no means top tier – or even 4th teir) these are some very good cards for that deck only.

Yogg’N’Load Is also Ben Brodes favourite deck… coincidence? I think Not! Just a shame Hunter is now gonna be terrible cause Ben Brode wants to play his favourite deck in Wild …

There is no way this is real. There has to be some trick or play in words involved. Honestly Blizzard has made some pretty bad cards, but never this bad. It makes no sense for them to make a card that sacrifices and entire deck for 2 meh minions.

  7. Chillip
    December 4, 2017 at 9:08 am

Well if the Hunter legendary weapon turns out to be “1-Mana 5/6 Battlecry: If you have all three animal companions, summon the ancient one. Give it charge. Deathrattle: If your deck has no minions, you win the game” this could still be viable

seriously guys , this is propably a hint that hunter will be top class next year . think about shaman/priest , before they made them top OP classes, in just the previous set, they received the worst cards ever, especially priest with purify . maybe that seems like a meme for blizzard at this point . so stop arguing and wait for the year of hunter cancer

    • bard
      December 3, 2017 at 9:05 pm

If that’s the case, why not release it with that future set instead? Why fill our packs with such a useless epic between now and then?

This card makes crushing walls look viable..
its a shame because the art looks so good

    • Blimey
      December 3, 2017 at 4:53 pm

      Why tho?

I can imagine To My Side being played in a type of deck that doesn’t exist as of yet.
I can’t imagine why would any sane person put Crushing Walls in their deck. Any deck. Ever.

      • Kondrias
        December 3, 2017 at 6:51 pm

Crushing walls is 1 mana more than this card and will kill 2 minions. If i was ever thinking od playing this card i would play call of the wild instead. You know the type of deck that runs 0 minions? It is called a Yogg’Saron deck. You know who is going away soon? Yogg’Saron.

Crushing walls is a fair mana cost for its effect. 7 mana destroy 2 minions at specific positions. Is it an effect you want? Not much.

But to compromise the quality of your deck to the point of 0 minions to do something for the exact same mana cost as just casting 2 animal companions for the same effect? Horrendous.

There would have to be a card that read. 5 mana if your deck contains no minions deal 10 face damage. To make me EVEN CONSIDER putting this card into a deck

  17. billius
    December 3, 2017 at 2:42 pm

maybe if this was like 4 mana it MIGHT be worth having literally no minions in your deck. But this is just pathetic

  18. GreenLanternHS
    December 3, 2017 at 1:11 pm

What is this? Hunter is getting really bad spells for this expansion. Death knight secret hunter with zero minions? I don’t get it… just bad

  19. ZardChamp
    December 3, 2017 at 11:45 am

do you choose the animal companion? if not then they should of made it that like “choose an animal companion minion, then summon a random one if your deck has no minions” still bad, but it makes more sense and would at least have some strength.

    December 3, 2017 at 8:55 am

As a hunter main I have to talk about this card and before I trash it let me just get this out of the way. I see what deck this card was made for and it was probably designed after that deck was made. But that was a very long time ago and it was Barnes + Y’Shaarj Hunter. I actually think with this card that deck could be potentially very viable since it gives more options if your combo got countered and you need more ways to win. I actually think this deck with the tools available could be very good but we will have to see, but I do think this is a sleeper card because it fits such a niche.

Now for the trashing. YHeah this card sucks outside of that deck but it would probably be pretty powerful if it had no drawback and Hunter already has a competitive 6 mana slot. I am not going to just call the card “dumb” or “Blizzard is a stupid company for printing this” because honestly, I see what they were going for and it is alright. Complaining that you need no minions is like saying “Blizzard are trash for making Kazakus require you to only play 1-ofs” So I urge people to give this a chance.

    • Ixc
      December 3, 2017 at 1:08 pm

See, the problem is that in any deck where this card is “good”, the deck is just plain awful. Hunter relies on minions; their board control spells are virtually non-existent and the only cards that “draw” for them (jeweled macaw, stitched tracker, etc.) are minions. As somebody else pointed out in this thread: hunter without minions is so bad that even when you were punished for playing minions in the Lich King fight, you still played quite a few minions. The drawback isn’t comparable to the Highlander cards because you can still make a viable deck and do what your class is supposed to. This card would be more comparable to something like keleseth in priest or mage; they have too many good two drops, their hero power on two is pretty low impact, and they aren’t really heavy-minion-based strategies, it would make no sense, just like this card.

      • some dude
        December 4, 2017 at 2:04 am

reno style decks are playable. hunter without minions is not playable

    • Blimey
      December 3, 2017 at 2:24 pm

The power level of Kazakus as a card is much higher than this, though. High enough to keep playing highlander style even after Reno, a clearly overpowered card (as every hunter player can attest :P), rotated out.
(Also it helps that 1ofs is way less of a downside compared to no-minions, when the game of HS is basically all about minion on minion combat. Even a friggin spell based combo deck like Freeze Mage doesn’t work without certain minions. But that’s beside the point).

The point is that To my side! is not that kind of card that’s worth building the deck around. It could be a nice supplementary card, that’s about it.

So that’s the issue with saying “wait until Blizzard releases more cards for this type of deck”. Imagine if the first highlander card they ever released was Inkmaster Solia, and not Reno. The reaction would have been the same as now – lol wut?
And if that’s the case, then it IS a pretty dumb decision on their part. Although Blizzard does shit like that sometimes – they’ve been trying to make people play “taunt warrior” for years, releasing all these meh taunt minions and taunt related cards, until they had enough and finally gave us that one legendary which made it a thing, at least for a few months (ironically, without any of these previous meh cards).

So yeah, all-spell hunter might be a thing in the future, but it also might be that To My Side won’t get to be a part of it.

Thank you for being the only person to leave a well thought out and informed comment about this card. Y’Sharjj hunter actually was piloted to #1 legend recently with DK Rexxar in the build. I played the deck when it first came out and just picked it up again with the DK build. When I saw this card I was actually kind of excited. Not sure it will make the cut, but the deck is getting serious support with this and the Spellstone that summons wolves.

So we have 1 animal companion for 3 mana. 3 animal companions for 9 mana. Logically, we should also have 2 animal companions for 6 mana, right? Well here we are! Only requirement is this time you have to turn your deck into trash! 😀

Actually this card makes me feel angry about Blizzard.I mean come on show some interest to your fanbase. This card gives me the impression that when Blizzard is about to release a new expansion they are so lazy to think new cards and game mechanisms that works well together. It’s like making a mage card which prevents mage from playing spells. That doesn’t even make sense. FeelsBadMan

    • Pepelui
      December 3, 2017 at 7:43 am

It´s not, its effect its not random, so you can probably choose to summon 2 of the same (8 damage charge creatures its not bad, or 2x 4/4 taunts…)

Anyway, its probably in tune with any non revealed Hunter card (Legendary Weapon most likely), and COULD be used.

Its still useless as right now…

  33. Killy
    December 3, 2017 at 6:46 am

Might work, if the hunter weapon is indestructible and has “cast your spells twice if you have no minions in your deck” this card is playable.

    • DackFayden
      December 3, 2017 at 2:37 pm

No it still wouldn’t be playable. You would much rather play cheap spells and cheap minions so as to be extremely aggressive. Any deck that revolves entirely about drawing a specific legendary in the early game is terrible.

Minionless hunter will probably be a theme in one of the expansions next year. Maybe then this card will become relevant.

    • DackFayden
      December 3, 2017 at 2:43 pm

This card’s better effect is still barely playable. Compare it Savannah Highmane. It has worse stats and 1/9 times it will give you 8 face damage. 2/9 times it will give you 5 damage (huffer+leok). 2/9 times it will give you 4 damage, and 4/9 times it will deal 0 damage. That means on average this card gives only 2.88 damage for 6 mana, which is frankly terrible. As two bodies this card still suffers for just having poor stats, the max being 16, which is again, worse than highmane.

      • Quaeritate
        December 3, 2017 at 5:37 pm

Except it does not say random, so 100% of the time you can have whatever combination you need.

Team five add cards over time to develop a class. Don’t expect all the cards for a new archtype to get dropped in one expansion.

People will likely experiment with this and if team five thinks it needs a push, will give it some more love in the up coming expansions.

      December 3, 2017 at 4:18 am

it’s so shit to be a fan of hunter and play hearthstone, they never get anything exciting, and they have been shit on the past several expansions, they have been tier 3 for the past 2 years, now i just don’t expect anything really cool or surprising to come out i now expect, cobra shot, this card, crushing walls, and that 2 mana poison spell, those are the cards hunter gets, the only good card in recent memory was call of the wild and even that got nerfed.

      • OParis
        December 3, 2017 at 5:27 am

Yeah sure, this is why I had 23% winrate against face hunter in Un’Goro.
I swear, some of you play this game just to count from 30 to 0 without any care about the opponent’s board. I can’t understand what’s funny in this.

        • PurifiedAzure
          December 3, 2017 at 6:14 am

That’s the point though, blizzard said they were pushing control, but while all the other classes had decent board clears all hunter got for the past 3 expansions that was remotely good was their deathknight card. We all had to deal with agro hunter, but agro hunter is just beast hunter now, and if blizzard wants to help with that they need to print good control cards, not cards like this, otherwise all people will play as hunter is agro.

        • Nanglaur
          December 3, 2017 at 8:00 am

Thats the point. Not even hunter players likes to play Aggro, but guess what, if you dont play Hunter as a stupid face hunter then you will always lose, because there is no support. Every other class has multiples decks viables, and then there is hunter, only one way to play it and is not even fun.

      • OParis
        December 3, 2017 at 5:28 am

Don’t get me wrong, hunter is a nice class, a control hunter deck would be pretty beautiful, but this face hunter is the cancer king of the cancer’s land.

        • Rob
          December 3, 2017 at 9:54 am

Just to preface i dont want face hunter, tempo/midrange with combo potential is where hunter should be, kinda similar to rogue but not as much tempo or combo more mid range; well all the combo from classic set has been removed, they’re pushing controlling hunter, but they have no board clears no heal( except the hunter hero), no cheap card draw, no taunts and no real control cards, i mean they print shit like cobra shot for gods sake, since when has mage ever got anything that shit. Every expansion they seem to push themes that aren’t there and when they do they give really slow cards that aren’t supporting the theme anyway, then they seem to forget about it, the cards are usually under the power level. as a result handbuff hunter doesn’t work, secret hunter doesn’t work, obviously face hunter will never work and deathrattle hunter is not even a thing more just a addition on midrange, and we’re damn well sure control isn’t working, and every expansion we get shit cards like this for some reason i mean literally the worst rated cards every set, that’s why it’s sad to be a hunter.

  50. JediMage
    December 3, 2017 at 2:39 am

Animal companion text: Summon a random Beast Companion
Call of the Wild text: Summon all three Animal Companions
This card text: Summon an Animal Companion or 2 if your deck has no minions.

So this card is probably not random! Which makes it slightly better. Too bad it costs 6 mana, on one less it would be probably played a lot more…
