This card needs to destroy a minion by attacking, sorry all you guys who thought you could taunt this and forever keep away an army of weenies. That might make it viable. This card is comparable to an already unused card, Gruul. They cost the same, gruul starts off with 1 extra attack (could be a downside if BGH stays), they each grow at a rate of +2/+2 each turn. But Gruul can attack face while growing. Nothing feels worse than sending your huge minion into a very small one, and with this, that is going to happen a lot. Sure there is windfury synnergy, but that is assuming this lives to attack, which will often not happen. This is absolute trash and will never see play.

Also Ghazrilla, it has better stats to start, costs 1 less, and most of the time it will take damage from attacking a minion, making it grow huge fast.

Play this in Control sharman, give it windfury, get +4/+4 every turn, best card ever Kappa

it looks weak and slow, in the current meta, it can’t do much, in the slower future meta, it just dies to a bigger creature the turn its played.

it’s only hope is its given taunt in a control preist and it can be healed/grown every turn like the death lord monstrosities they make that are being cycled out, but then again, gruul is better in the same situation.

and I’m not saying this is a replacement for deathlord, it is a terrible one, but it’s just a theory that might be tested before getting 400 dust towards crafting something better

Perhaps its existence could be credited to the inclusion of Forbidden Shaping; to make the 8 mana slot just worse.

I’m gonna run builderfist ogre because it gains 10 attack when I kings it.

He gets +2 +2 2 times at a turn if he kills a minion when he attacks he gets +2 +2 and kills he gets +2 +2 again he is 10 11 for 8 mana

      March 31, 2016 at 5:13 am

That would be “or” not “and” as in “Whenever this attacks OR kills a minion gain +2/+2.” Sadly it’s current wording is far worse.

So you saying he killed 2 target dummies? When he attacks something on turn 9 i think there are going to be stronger minions so he can only kill most likely 2 minions if he survives.

It should read: “Whenever you open this in a pack, destroy It and gain 400 arcane dust.

If somehow it get windfury , your opponent suddenly have a serious problem. Maybe a combo with windspeaker and ancestral healing can be good.

Or I could just play almost any other 8 drop, put windfurry on it and win the game. Any card is good when you start putting other random cards onto it.

watch how we traverse from a fast aggro type meta to a new slow meta.

  15. Turboisa
    March 25, 2016 at 11:30 am

It should be, “Whenever this minion kills another minion, give it +2/+2”, so then at least it could be good when taunted.

At first I thought it would be like that, but then I read it again. But even in that case, yeah your enemy couldn’t trade small minions into this, but a 6/7 could be ignored. I mean in that case it would be kinda okay, but there would be better options.

Can you people stop saying “O this card is bad” or ” Too slow”…
WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE NEW META WILL BE.
A LOT OF CARDS ARE BEING TAKEN OUT AND A LOT OF CARDS ARE COMING IN.

    • TomBombadil
      March 25, 2016 at 12:19 pm

Except even compared to cards that we know are in the new Standard, this card doesn’t compare well. 8 mana is a lot to invest so it better do a lot or at least do something fast.

The initial starts are bad. A 6/7 for 8 mana better do something good. But all this does is her higher after it attacks a minion. That sounds interesting, but similar effects don’t work out well. For instance, one of the easiest comparisons is Gruul who will get effectively +2/+2 each of YOUR turns without any issue, setup, or awkward requirement, which is good because of Gruul does stick for even a turn (which happens very rarely and that is why no one plays him unless they are starting out and happen to open him), he wants to hit face for a lot of damage. This, however is REQUIRED to hit minions to grow, which also means it’s health goes lower and lower as it “grows” unless you hit 1 or 2 attack minions. And you rarely ever want to have to spend 6,8,10+ damage on a 1 or 2 attack minion, which are usually very low cost and low threat. If you are lucky, you might be able to kill three minions with this, and even at that point, if you only hit 0 attack minions, you would have a 12/13, which is certainly big but hadn’t done anything that significant for three full turns. Very rarely will its growing attack not be wasted on minions without this taking big damage in the process. So it compared unfavorably to Gruul, who can just be unmanageable on his own, grows and hits face, so the game will likely end fast. With this, to grow it, you extend the game into the opponent finding an answer.

Its role of Big Guy Killer is very similar to Icehowl, who just does it better. Sure Icehowl costs 1 mana more, but with it, you get charge, higher health, and higher starting attack. Unlike this current card, it removes a Ragnaros immediately without the potential of just getting shot down. While Icehowl’s drawback is significant, it is effectively the same sort of drawback this minion has in that it needs to hit minions to be any sort of value.

I would argue that in almost any metagame, both Gruul and Icehowl are better options, and it is very likely neither of those will see play. Sadly this doesn’t even fit into interesting potential deck ideas like stinker legendaries like Mistcaller, Fizzlebang, and other do. It just isn’t worth playing.

So, in this case, I think it is perfectly justified to say “not good” without knowing what the metagame is. Using that argument is a weak way to dismiss any sort of discussion because it can also be used to argue against saying a card is good. People realize we haven’t seen all the cards, but comparative analysis can give us a good idea of what uses a card may have.

DUUUUDE this card is 8 mana 6/7 get +2/+2 every time you kill something (so every 2 turns) basicly, gruul is 8 mana 7/7 get +1/+1 every turn so basicly the same but without conditions and is already an 8/8 on the enemy turn, this card is just simply bad

  17. Nightfall
    March 25, 2016 at 8:34 am

bad, just to bad, its just to bad that it is bad, I think its bad that I think its to bad that this is bad.

So the best comparison I can see for this card is the ubiquitously underplayed Gruul. Both are 8-drops with a statline that climbs over a number of turns. Unfortunately, this is where the favorable comparisons end.

Whereas Gruul is guaranteed to become progressively more scary, TBM is fairly easy to shut down. First of all, it’s a 6/7 for 8, which, while making it immune to BGH, leaves it in unenviable position of having to contend against 7-drops, which likely have better stats and will eat it alive. The poor thing dies to a War Golem, for heaven’s sake.

Secondly, where Gruul powers up on its own, TBM can only gain power on your turn, and only if you use it to trade into something substantially smaller than itself. Yes, you could trade into a 6/6 to get yourself an 8/3, but that’s weaker than Rend Blackhand and we all know how that turned out. So you’re missing out on a substantial amount of face damage to gain a sub-par creature. Even trading against a 1/1, you end up investing a turn to get an 8/8 and minimal board control, where Gruul would have already been a 9/9 that could be used to trade into anything shy of Deathwing, or more probably thrown at your opponent’s face.

I understand the restriction of “while attacking” for the ability trigger is necessary; slap a Sunfury Protector on this guy and your opponent has to invest everything they have in killing him. Unfortunately, it means that his ability can only trigger once per turn cycle, barring Windfury shenanigans. He starts weaker than Gruul and ramps up more slowly. Unless there are new synergy cards that have yet to be spoiled in WotOG, I see no circumstance where this card will see play, and it’s a bit of a waste of a Legendary slot.

TL;DR: Slower and weaker than Gruul, don’t bother.

100% with you. I’d even compare this card with gozrilla. I mean gozrilla in hunter can be a billion attack creature. But in order to do this you have to invest turns. And you might be death till you get ur lethal. So this legendary is for rng out of unstable portals (it’ll be a 6-7 for 5 mana with the effect) and maybe ok in arena , as you trade alot in arena.

      • Arkyion
        March 25, 2016 at 5:42 pm

Gahz’rilla at least has the added bonus of its ability triggering when it takes damage. I’ve pumped a pair of Arcane Shots into him a time or two in order to secure lethal. As of yet, TBM has nothing to supplement its ability.

Least it won’t get bgh’d is he keeps his wording for a higher cost, and you have to use it to trade to benefit.

Seems reasonable but they’re better, more important legendaries

…………………. You cant judge any of the damn cards… We have no idea what the new meta will be.

      • TomBombadil
        March 25, 2016 at 12:25 pm

Too slow for any meta. There are so many better, faster options that aren’t used in already slow metas. This card compares poorly to both Group and Icehowl, and neither of those see play. Saying “we don’t know what the meta will be like” is only valid if either the card is clearly powerful compared to similar cards but might be too slow, if it’s effect is brand new, or if it synergizes with specific but limited sets of cards (a Dragon-related card can only be evaluated when we know what sorts of dragons are around, for example). Comparative analysis for general cards like this can give us a good idea of just how useful a card will be.

And this one is a clunker.

Who in gods name would run this card over Gruul? Now think about how many times Gruul gets played. Is Gruul so overpowered that his retarded step brother will get played with him too, because I don’t think so.

        • Kersakof
          April 12, 2016 at 9:55 am

Someone trying to make it work, etc. windfury shenanigans, or charge warrior. Charge warrior could be ‘Do you have an answer to this? No? Double faceless 30 damage on board’

          • Banks
            April 16, 2016 at 9:45 pm

Or you could use Grom. That would be about 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000X better. And you don’t have to use a card to give it charge.
