This card seems like it couod be rather decent. It also has the elemental tag so you could in theory include it in a elemental deck. This will probably see lots of play in wild.

    Echo giants reborn?

2x snowfury giant, 2x arcane giant, and the spirit echoes for the bounce back

It’s actually a good deck for finders keepers too! Everyone forgets about that card sadly. I’m definitely going to try it out at least.

Other possible inclusions: Volcano, lightning storm, earth elemental (ancestrals? possibly.), jinyu, jade claws (jade package? sounds good), maybe even spirit doggies.

Could also, if you’re going for a “big” package work with the Freeze abilities Shaman is getting – Moorabi, Cryostasis, Voodoo Hexxer, Icebreaker plus Glacial Shard and even Frozen Crusher (not sure about Frost Elemental – 6 mana for a 5/5 seems high when you’re largely playing it for the same effect you’d get from the shard) or possibly Frost Shock if you want to copy an opponent’s minion.

Should be able to lock down your opponent and get quite a few cheap 8/8s out… and it opens up Elemental synergy.

You know, I thought about it a bit and its a good idea, I just think you’ll have to cut a bit too many spells and overloads for it to work. Who knows though. I’ll try this deck out too when the expansion goes live

Weird question: Do you have to physically overload the mana crystals, or can you play a card with overload into a Lava Shock or Eternal Sentinel in the same turn and still receive benefits for the overload card?

“Overloaded” suggesting that you may have overloaded multiple Times before playing this card.

      It doesn’t cost overloaded crystals.
The counter of overloads reduces the cost.

      For example:
The new troll 2/8 taunt would reduce the cost by 3 for the rest of the game

Sorry about shaman getting only dummy cards in this expansion.

Drakkari Defender makes a little more sense now – 2 of them and 2 Earth Ellies and these guys are free. Combine that with Ancestral Spirit and Spirit Echo and there’s some value to be had there.

Whether there will be enough value to make a viable deck remains to be seen however.

Big nerf to Yogg :D(end battlecry when drops evolve) beside that evolving crapy 10 drop into always that one 11 drop seems fair and u can manage to get it for free.. but u dont need to if it will be like 5 mana it will be nice every cheaper is just added bonus

What part about this card would make you think that?

Good with the Doomhammer control shaman that Robotwizard was playing, that was my favorite deck the last season, and you easily hit 10+ overload with it.

I do not think they made this vars cup they Wanted this card. Just think of what costs 10. Runs in evolverar shaman. Ses giant. CSN currently not be evolved yo anything

Fun in Wild, difficult as hell to use in Standard.

All the Shaman decks that are currently successful are not running many Overload cards, and this requires you to run a lot.

Currently, Blizzard has been very stingy with Overload tools. There’s a lot of cards that apply Overload, but not a lot that benefit from it or can remove it. Currently, the only other card in the game that benefits from Overload is the Unbound Elemental, which I don’t think has seen play in a very long time. Rest of the time, it’s a tempo loss.

In Standard, there’s only one way to remove Overload, and that’s Eternal Sentinel. You can only have two of those.

I think the biggest problem is that I don’t see a way for you to stay alive nearly long enough to Overload enough mana to play this card quickly. If you’re going to try this, why not do something more reliable like Sea Giant with Token or Quest Shaman? You don’t burn your own tempo for a Giant.

Shaman has always needed more tools associated with the Overload mechanic. I guess after the terror of Tunnel Trogg, they were too terrified to mess with it again. This isn’t going to work, I fear.

Control shaman runs double jade claws, volcanoes, and lightning storms. That’s 8 overloaded mana for 6 cards, and you don’t get behind with them. 3 mana for an 8/8, drop in an earth ellie, and you get them free. Pretty decent.

Maybe it works better in Wild, were you have more overload viable options, including elemental destruction, with 5 crystals in a row.

I’m pretty sure you play this in wild aggro shaman as copies 3-4 of Flamewreathed Faceless, almost half of the typical build of Aggro shaman is overload cards, I feel this card at it’s best will cost 4-5 and at the worst will cost 7-8

fun fact the post on hearthpwn originally translated it as exactly that and the flavor fits a hell of a lot better to that than this overload thing

Indeed, but it has that wonderful Elemental tag

i could see a midrange/control shaman with an overload theme MAYBE sneaking its way into the meta, they get a deathlord that drops this down by 3 per and volcano/lightning storm brings it down by 2 per. unfortunately the type of deck that can really abuse this is control shaman, control shaman cant out heal mage burn and is the biggest reason why that deck isnt in the meta.

Yogg nerf, now when Yogg casts evolve he ends his reign of terror even earlier.

It’s also an Elemental, so Fire Plume Harbinger also reduces it’s cost if it’s in your hand. And it can synergize with the other Elemental cards in Shaman.

    Worth a try at least.

Not seeing a spot for this in any shaman deck worth playing, both arcane and sea giant would be far more consistent in a shaman decks and neither seem to find a slot so I can’t see this finding a spot either

Totally unrelated, but does this being 11 mana cause evolve to turn 10 mana minions into this? And if you devolve a 12 cost for someone who’s not Shaman, will it turn into this?

They couldnt. now that there’s an 11 mana minion they should be able to.

          August 10, 2017 at 11:16 pm

Yes… they now can. This is an 11 cost minion, of which there used to be none. Now 10 mana minions can evolve into this giant, and this minion can evolve into 12 mana giants

Okay… bad news first. The best Shaman deck in the Meta right now, Token Shaman, only plays two overload cards (Two copies of Jade claws, which only overloads a total of 2 crystals), so it definitely won’t see play in that deck (and the deck definitely won’t morph so much just to incorporate this card).

Spirit Echo Shaman uses a few more overload cards… five to be precise, which overloads a total of 8 mana crystals (if you play them all). I won’t talk about the other Shaman decks, because at that point we’re dropping down to tier 3.

So how many crystals do you need to overload before this card becomes good? I’d say at least five; a 6 mana 8/8 is about the worst I’d want it to be before playing it, and normally I’d want it to be a lot lower. So how viable is it to get that many crystals overloaded? Back in the day, Tunnel Trogg saw a lot of play and loved having crystals overloaded, but that was an early drop that curved pretty well into the other good overload cards of the day (Totem Golem and Ancestral Knowledge). Unfortunately, all of those really good early game overload cards are gone. Jade Claws is a really good early game overload card, we still have Feral Spirits, Flamewreathed Faceless, Lightning Storm, Jinyu Waterspeaker… there are definitely good overload cards out there. The question is, are they good enough to fill your deck with? Is it worth slowing down that much so that you can play these for cheap? Will you have to run Eternal Sentinel to make THAT worth it? Will “Good Stuff Shaman” be good enough?

I… kind of doubt it. At least with the current pool and how strong and competitive the current metagame is. We’ll have to see, but I’m not sure that overload shaman is really a thing right now. Good design though.

elemental jade shaman decks got pretty much every single tool at hand, wont take long before an explosive list is discovered.
