So thinking of crafting this card 2017, but not sure its worth the 800 dust (for two) is it fast enough for this meta? I mean in some aggro matchups by the time u get to use it the game is almost over…

I haven’t read the comments, so I don’t know if anyone else has thought of this, but here it goes. Shaowcaster…. on Shadowcaster… on SHADOWCASTER….on ANOTHER Shadowcaster…. FUREEEEVER. Infinite 1/1s!

The sad part is, I really never even considered that. It seems so obvious now. You’d just have to be careful not to overload your hand (since each shadowcaster puts two cards in your hand). By the way, does C’thun still regain its buffs if you use shadowcaster on it?

one of the best rogue’s cards… imagine a 1 mana cost edwin, VALUE !

This card says, copy unearthed raptor, one for one one copy death rattle is good.not the most OP combination that could be listed but its realistic and it goes well with the four mana draw two toxins that would also be in that style of tempo rogue. Good card, not OP but still very powerful.

The potential of this card is huge, I am afraid though, that in the end it is only an overglorified Azure Drake.

I think this card will be amazingly funny, epecially with Malygos. I think something like a new miracle Rogue with Auctioneer, Conceal, Malygos and Shadowcaster could be possible. It will be a slow meta game, after all…

With Anu’barak you’d get a 1/1 version of Anu’barak with “Deathrattle: Return this to your hand and summon a 4/4 Nerubian” … in that case would “this” become a 1/1, 1 mana cost version of Anu’barak?

Every other turn that would be a 4/4 drop for 1 mana (assuming you plow it into an enemy minion as soon as summoning sickness wears off)… until it’s silenced .

Of course, Anu’barak is a 9 cost drop in the first place – by which time virtually infinite cheap 4/4s is probably not going to make any great difference.

Every single person in this forum is undervaluing the power level of this card.

    • OPopie
      April 15, 2016 at 9:07 am

It’s not just the stupidly powerful plays that can be done:
      It’s
      A) the combos are actually easy to setup ( >4 cards in many cases)
      B) this card is flexible in many situations
      C) this card doesn’t kill tempo too hard
I could list derpy wombo combos, but any sylvanas, thaurissan, rag, alexstraza, Reno that you can drop again for almost nothing, is amazing value, running “add stealth”, esp conceal, is very justifiable to this end.
Being a poor turn five play on an empty board is immaterial vs the size of value.

Man, youre overrating this card! Here is my thoughts why:

Against heavy control matchup (wich pretty much possible in new standard due to expectation of slowing meta) you will generally have nothing on board to copy. For example: you said about Reno but its 6 mana and i this card is 5 mana so it have to survive 1 turn before you can have your dream come true. I think in most cases this card will be played with its target for copying in same turn so this limitates your possible targets between 2 and 5 mana…

Against aggro/tempo matchup this card will be too slow and you will quite frequently hold it in your hand for entire game (you can count this as dead card)

      April 16, 2016 at 7:26 am

That would mean that you are also undervaluing this card. And if that is the case then how would you know you are undervaluing the card?

Play malygos and play conceal, the next turn play Brann + Shadowcaster on malygos, play 2 malygos’ and 2 sinister strikes. (Brann and shadow caster have to be discounted by Emperor T)

  12. ZaetsVTanke
    April 14, 2016 at 3:54 pm

This is basically shadowstep for coldlight oracle in mill-decks on 9th turn. If they ever will use them of course…

Below average arena card tempo wise… Just significant tempo loss…

    • ZaetsVTanke
      April 14, 2016 at 4:10 pm

It has same rarity and cost as Faceless Manipulator so i think they will appear quite frequently both in arena draft and i guess i will choose faceless more often…

    April 14, 2016 at 2:37 pm

As situational as this card will be it’s also a much better combo then faceless manipulator + blood of the ancient one

Very excited to see what people can do with these

Brann into this copying brann into another one of these copying this card itself. You need Emperor or a couple coins, but that’s not too difficult for rogue to do. At this point you now have a way to infinitely fill your board with 1/1’s every single turn. If a Brann lives a turn you could also start making copies of Malygos and 1 shot the other player with Sinister Strike. Can’t wait to see this card in action.

Shadowcaster on Shadowcaster on Shadowcaster on Shadowcaster on Shadowcaster… Look out Wisps of the Old Gods, Rogue has their own way to fill the field with 1/1s for 7 mana.

If you copy C’thun, do the buffs stay?

    • Rockermj
      April 14, 2016 at 1:58 pm

thats a good question, i believe that they would because the c’thun buffs are tied to the player

    • Zenith
      April 14, 2016 at 5:38 pm

If i were to guess, it would be 5/5 less than what it usually is because it’s a 1/1 not a 6/6, but the buffs would probably remain

    April 14, 2016 at 12:51 pm

I know this card has a lot of potential and synergy

BUT……I also see a huge disadvantage

If you look at the stats alone it is a horrible play on turn 5 on an empty board
the card is also not really reactive in case you play it on turn 5 and you have not enough Mana to use the card you just got back

Even if we assume that the Meta is going to slow down a little, ( Naxx+GVG ) the card might gets too much positive feedback

Eventhough I am with you Guys , it is a beautiful and strong synergy card for raptor+Xaril Rough

  18. Brownbear
    April 14, 2016 at 12:38 pm

If it says choose a friendly minion, can it include itself? If it could you would get 5/5 worth of stats in 2 bodies as well as another battlecry. I doubt it will but I’m just wondering.

if u have on eof tem on board and play sacond u got another for 1 mana into hand and play it on him …and have brann bronzebeard on board u can fill hand withath minions and drop emperor all for 0 mana…and ragnaaros and drop all of them hand full of 1 mana ragnaroses WOW that card is coool

  19. Brownbear
    April 14, 2016 at 12:28 pm

5 mana for a 4/4 with a very useful battlecry. Depending on the card copied, this card has the potential to be amazing. It has a similar effect to Herald Volazj except with only 1 copy that actually has to be played. The only problem with it is that you would need a lot of cards with deathrattles or card text that are actually worth keeping such as Raggnaros

    • Foodbeard
      April 14, 2016 at 3:57 pm

Also, Herald Volazj doesn’t trigger battlecries. That’s a really awesome thing about Shadowcaster!

    • Blah
      April 14, 2016 at 4:07 pm

You forget about battlecries, since you have to play it from hand. Also, you can apply combo with this card very well.

    • SpeakinRiddles

Epic is better than common so it makes a better look on the expansion 😉 a simple marketing trick but I guess its also because they are better to reveal than commons

    • SpeakinRiddles
      April 14, 2016 at 4:59 pm

You lose the taunt (deathlord) in standard so you could drop one, also you could drop a shiv or something like that 🙂

  22. ZekeHyle
    April 14, 2016 at 11:48 am

Quite a broken card. Deathrattle Rogue thickens.

  23. GotGumBalls
    April 14, 2016 at 11:18 am

It’s nice to see rogue isn’t getting screwed over this expansion.

I think this a really nice card that can combo well with the other rogue cards, as well as with most death rattle cards such as twilight summoner.

  24. Foodbeard
    April 14, 2016 at 10:53 am

So this is a Faceless Manipulator that just copies minions’ effects, including their battlecries, which is amazing!

Actually, a great use would be to target Brann. You get TWO copies of him that you can play for (1).

This could give Raptor Rogue some nasty combo/finisher potential, if the deck can survive the loss of all the deathrattle minions in Standard.

    • iron
      April 14, 2016 at 11:35 am

i don’t think branns effect stacks , if it does that means you could effectively trigger one battlecry 4 times … EVEN YOGG’SARON HOWCRAZY WOULD THAT BE !!!!!

but yeah … you can do some weird sht with this like the murlock oracle , assuming it will always stay a 1 mana 1/1 even when shadowstepped that could make fatigue rogue even stronger cause they can use it on the 1 mana minion and make it free , allowing for more efficient milling.

i know its not really that viable but it might just get a bit more popular

      • Brownbear
        April 14, 2016 at 12:34 pm

Brann’s card text states that “Your Battlecries trigger twice.” meaning literally that they will only occur twice. It’s similar to the way Baron Rivendere works where even if you have multiple on the board their battlecry will only trigger twice. If the text was your battlecries trigger another time, that would be a different story.

        • Lennon255
          April 14, 2016 at 2:23 pm

never once did they say that brann’s effect stacks.

          • Foodbeard
            April 14, 2016 at 3:56 pm

I wasn’t talking about the benefit of stacking Brann’s effect, which as you point out you can’t do. Rather, the benefit is that Brann is a combo enabler and also a high-priority target, so it would be pretty amazing to have (1)-cost Branns, allowing you to guarantee double battlecries on at least two more turns.

    • Ermino

If you copy a minion, you generally copy also the text. So if you play it from your hand you also get the battlecry of course.

    A very good Control/Fatigue card.

    Interesting Combos:

    – Rogue cards: “Dark Iron Skulker”, “Iron Sensei”, “SI:7 Agent”, “Unearthed Raptor”, “Patient Assassin”, “Anub’arak”, “Edwin VanCleef”

    – Legendaries: “Lorewalker Cho”, “Brann Bronzebeard” (you get 2 Branns, damn!), “Elise Starseeker”, “Nexus-Champion Saraad”, “Cairne Bloodhoof”, “Emperor Thaurissan”, “Reno Jackson”, “Sylvanas Windrunner”, “Chillmaw”, “Dr.Boom”, “Rend Blackhand”, “Kel’Thuzad”, “Ragnaros, the Firelord”, “Sneed’s Old Shredder”, “Arch-Thief Rafaam”, “Malygos”, “Nefarian”, “Onyxia”, “Ysera”, “Deathwing”

    – From this expansion: “C’Thun” (do you still get the buffs?), “Deathwing, Dragonlord”, “Faceless Shambler”, “Mukla, Tyrant of the Vale”, “N’Zoth the Corrupor”, “Twilight Summoner”, “Undercity Huckster”, “Xaril, Poisoned Mind”, “Yogg-Saron, Hope’s End”, “Y’Shaarj, Rage Unbound”

    • Xander Raidon
      April 14, 2016 at 10:49 am

If C’Thun’s buffs remain even though it’s a (1) cost 1/1, Shadowcaster will be quite broken

      • Bling
        April 15, 2016 at 9:21 am

C’Thuns buffs are put on the Hero, so it will just be minus (5/5) so whatever buffs you added to it will be transferred to the 1/1 + C’Thun cultisit buffs = OPOP

Malygos rouge op ! Ragnarok ! Edwin ! The possibilities of this Card are Great !!!

    • Kalo
      April 14, 2016 at 11:21 am

If Malygos stays on the board you’ve already won the game anyway. Ragnaros usually gets removed, but it could be decent with it. Edwin? Not bad, but that’s a card you generally want to play in the early game and not overbuff him.

No, it’s not in play until after you’ve chosen a target for the battlecry.

You can target the other copy in your deck if that one’s already in play, though.

This card allows for the possibility of a quadruple C’thun battlecry with Bran, Shadowstep and Thaurissan

    • Clint
      April 14, 2016 at 10:38 am

Or even more than that since this card is epic. You can have two of them. Will be fun to watch the streamers pull it off

If you used this on a raptor that has copied a deathrattle, would the 1/1 copy have deathrattle?

no but u have 1 mana raptor wich can copy dethrattle and be shadowsteped for combo like lepper gnome copying with bran so u can have full one turn combo if u can copy 2 raptors and have 2 shadowsteps and after just poop them BOOOM

    • Sagittarius
      April 15, 2016 at 9:00 am

The game would be over… in wild, yes. But the meta shift with all of the sticky deathrattle crap going in Standard, late game isn’t a light at the end of the tunnel.

  36. Nightmare

No, but you would gain Unearthed Raptor’s Battlecry and be able to copy your other Raptor’s Deathrattle.
