You should play bad cards to make this work so not worth playing rn

Since this card doesn’t actually provide a win condition(all it does is help control the board), you don’t actually need to base your entire deck around this card. Instead, you could just run 1 or 2 mediocre cards that will be turned insane by Professor Slate.

Rapid Fire looks pretty decent with this. So does Arcane Shot. I’d say at least Highlander Hunter would give this card a chance.

I think this makes the cut for Highlander Hunter and also brings a few changes to the decklist. Rapid Fire, Marked Shot and Scrap Shot should all make a comeback with this. In my opinion, this is the great minion protection card for Hunter that Ace Hunter Kreen isnt 😀 Also very strong in Face Hunter!

Great card for the wrong class
No way they are going to show us an aoe hunter spell, so this will reduce to rapid fire sheanigans. Not worth it. 3/5

Rapid fire isn’t that bad of a card TBH. Its effect of doing 1 damage for 1 mana is just too weak.

Professor Slate completely turns that problem around. I don’t know about you, but having two one-mana Assassinates sounds pretty good to me.

At the very least Highlander Hunter would use this card.

we’ll see, i dont think you want to have a card that needs you to draw another exclusive card to be good in any kind of deck, but hey, maybe it is worth

It turns explosive trap into a full board clear

But then again, no one is stupid enough to attack when slate is on the board

Highlander would consider this but I would also expect it to see use by face Hunter. Giving you an easy way to pop off taunts or similar stuff that would interfere.

Auto-include in a yet powerful HL Hunter seems so scaring for me. Let’s see if the meta can contest the archetype. Rapid Fire cheapest removal and it’s a Twin Spell! so basically 5 mana remove to big threats! Seems too OP. 5/5.

This card seems very scary to me. Making every spell in your hand a removal not only will give you a big advantage, but can even be preety snowbally, since constantly removing the enemy’s board will make it harder for him to remove Professor Slate.
I think that this will be widely used in many Hunter’s archetypes.

Well even in standard there are many removala and rush minions, so I doubt it will liv to see another round in most cases.

Still love this card, hunter needs more poison.

What if Zephrys gets “smart” enough to discover this card? 2 Mana Zephrys/3 Mana Slate + arcane explosion or breath or something.

Certain way to clear opponent’s board bar Divine Shields.

And of course you can always discover those minor AoE spells in Highlander hunter and play Slate

Zephrys can only discover cards from the Classic and Basic sets.

True. So let’s stick to Highlander Hunter discovering an Arcane Explosion. Sounds good enough

    Slate into Yogg… 🙂
    Slate with explosive trap.
    Slate with on the hunt.
This card just like gave hunter a solid boost in wild imo.

I don’t think summoning spells work, becuase if that was the case, then we would just turn of our brains off for Unleashed the Hounds anytime a threat is on board. Hunter is more of a Summioning type rather than a damaging type in terms of spells, and I’ve looked at all the damaging spells, and he only really has 6. The Biggest spike that Hunter could have with Slate is with Rapid Fire, to take down up to 4 Oppoments, but Again, It’s that Nitpick of not trying to get him.

I have no idea of Explosive trap works, but if it does, than it’s ridiculous, but we can also predict. on what’s the combo is. (Unless It’s Phase Stalker, to mask the Obvious Secret.)

Multi-Shot and Explosive Shot is Experimental, were as Scrap Shot and Marked Shot looks Benefitical, becuase you gain a Bonus something.

I would say that Highlander Hunter will defnetially use this, and Maybe some Face Hunters that need to just quickly deal with some taunts here and there.

Tracking is going to backfire on you one of these days as well if you have damaging spells, so be careful as well.

I think it’s a really Solid card if you can draw him out. It’s just the whole preparing idea that’s the problem. You can pretend that your Priest where you don’t really play any cards up until about turn 5-6 or whatever and then you slowly start to go ham, but Hunter isn’t Priest. He has Minions (Some with Rush or Taunt) to Protect him. He has Beasts.

Defentially keep Professor Slate even after the Final Expansion, It’s going to be a very useful Card, but I just that unless your Highlander or Midrange (Possible even Control Hunter, which is such a sudden jump for him) It’s going to secretly harm you more than helping you.

    4 Stars.

Explosive trap most certainly works but I don’t think anyone in their right mind would attack the hero instead of Professor Slate if there’s a secret up.

I’m fairly certain we get at least one good damage spell that targets minions specifically to go with this, it’s true that there aren’t that many good spells to go with this atm but I don’t even think it needs much more than two rapid fires, it’s just that good.

        Intresting.

And so do you think that even faster Cards can just grab Proffessor Slate and Rapid Fires and they’re just good to go? Even Something like Tempo or Face Hunter?

        July 28, 2020 at 3:01 am

So I’ve done my philiosphy about Professor Slate.

To make it a long story short, Your Mostly RIght. And I even Scenarios where Now I’m even starting to see Veranus as your plan B type of Idea; But then your problem could be predictive of you don’t have otheranswers after Veranus, once Slate Dies.

Now That I’m seeing it, Hunter can have 3 -4 “Destory” Answers; They have Slate into Rapid FIre. They have Vernus into Remaining Rapid Fires, and they have Deadly SHot. And if you want, even a Pressure Plate.

        Aganist:
Druid; you know he’s either going, fast, big, or both.
Hunter is whatever. You should be fine.
Mage is just annoying and big.
Paladin should be fine to fight.
Priest is just as annoying and big as mage but they don’t have freezes.
Rouges are all about Value Cards, so once you take down their Precious VanCleefs and their Fliks and Togwaggles than they don’t really have an answer after that. You just need to be patient from the mass spams of Lackeys that they like juggling.

I haven’t seen Shamans in a while, but they’ll probably go token evolve, or big, so just wait until he evoles and then answer against the evoles.
Warlock is much like Druid; they like going, Fast, big or both
And Warriors are much like Druids; but just sometimes not as fast or sometimes not as big or both.
Oh, and Demon Hunter so far is just Token after Spamming Priestess of Furies after throwing their cards in front of your face. they play much like Rouge, but they like going for the face more.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing card, but yeah Maybe, I should just wait it for for everything to be released first. I think I fell for the “Questions first; Experiment Later” Idea, and I was thinking all about theroycrafting.

And I can start seeing how the faster Cards might want to use Professor Slate into Rapid Fire, but one big reason as to way I pulled back is becuase they tend to run out ofgass, and they usually have to deal with 2-3+ taunts on average becuase it’s about turn 9 or so.

It’s defentially the most philosophical card I’ve seen yet, escpially for someone like hunter.

Rapid fire? More like rapid assassinate. I love hunter with control aspects so this is perfect.

5/5. Rapid fire is sooo good with this.
