I don’t think this card will be used right now. However, next year when elise rotates out, I think this will be the card that can single handedly replace elise unless Blizzard creates another card.

Did anyone realize that this will add 5 EXTRA cards? Your bloody deck will have 35 cards instead of 30. this means this card is very usefull for very fast decks that otherwise run fati.
the card it self is decent stats for mana too. like pit brawler.

Blizzard efforts to increase the game’s randomness as much as possible. I understand casual/idiot community are majority and that means more money but there are so many modes in the game, like unranked, ranked wild, arena and brawl and I wonder why Blizzard do not try to limit cancer decks and super random cards to those modes.

You want a fast deck? you don’t wanna think too much? just throw cards in? Also you want to play rank because it is more serious? then limit them to ranked wild.

Ok, the idiots/kids are majority and that is the fun for them, but they can have it in wild mode, and Blizzard can allocate then some respect to those who enjoy longer/control games, games which randomness is limited to card draws and maximum a knife juggler. Enough is enough. This community pays money too. Out of all the formats in the game, allocate standard format to this community.

Annoying how they think randomness is the key to win the majority…. Fun is not for everyone to win surprisingly because of a random card you did not expect. and say shitttt or wowwww for 10 minutes after, I and many others, we don’t want that kind of win and we don’t appreciate a loss like that either. I respect to how the game pleases many of you, let it be a kid, an idiot or a casual gamer, but this other side needs attention too.

Blizzard is changed forever with all its free to play games, maximum casualty and minimum competitiveness. Remember balance is the solution almost for everything! This is called greed for more money and ruining the game for a big part of their community. Off to Faeria as I don’t care how fun this can be for a few days or weeks. It will not be fun after 2-3 weeks. Once the freshness’s gone, it’s the higher random outcomes that we start to feel from games.

(Yes, this card reduces from how much you can read from opponents deck, anything can happen at any turn and in the long run, it is bad for control).

Really interesting point of view! Amazing article, also.
I think most competitive decks are no full of randomness, so random cards don’t affect the entire game, maybe only some matches.

Can you get every legendary like if you have a tirion in your deck, can you get a second tirion. And if you are a warrior, can you get legendaries from other classes

No, he abides by deck building rules so you can’t get a duplicate and it can only be Neutral or from your Class.

a great card, and can fit into more places than you think, poeple keep saying that it’ll give you 5 cho’s or something, but if you look at the card pool, like 70% of all legendaries are 6 cost or more, and even some smaller ones like vancleef can be big aswell. Meaning that 3-4 of the legendaries will be your end game, and the others will be playable, out of deck value, at the least.

in control, it allows you to run some more situational cards instead of bigger minions because you only need to run malchezaar and mabye one specific legend that you really need, so you can tech in some extra answers, clears, or early game to counter aggro crap. In a Reno deck, this will be very good if you run some more early game, running legends might be bad because if you double them up, can’t Reno, and you die, so keep the chances of that very low by limiting the initial legendaries besides malchezaar. And in fatigue types, this will basically give you an extra 5 turn timer, and give you some more needed deck space to put in some more control tools.

Midrange is a surprisingly good mix for this card, mabye more so than control. in midrange, you often have the power to curve out well (the legends are added after mulligan), and you have more of an ability to go endgame than most aggro decks (which kill your opponent before they can even respond, you scum shaman). This card allows them to run more board presence in their Midgame while giving them not only a 5 drop 5/6 which is premium arena stats, and can do work in contructed, but giving them some hard hitters for the end game that they might not have space for initially.

zoo and aggro decks do not need this card, they kill you in 5-7 turns, and they already infest the game and are the sole reason why the fun and lengthy control expiriences are limited. And as for combo, terrible, hey just want to draw their deck and kill you in a cheesy unavoidable way.

overall, very cool card, I hope it find its way into the meta.

So… who is best option The Curator or this Prince Malchezaar?
I think Curator could be more effective since you can draw cards from your strategy.

      August 2, 2016 at 6:35 am

I think in decks like Mage, etc, where you want alextrazsa (sorry) and azure drake, and your specific burn spells, I think the curator is more effective.

But on ramp druid, I might play Malchezaar, and it might help in fatigue matchups for the 5 extra cards.

    • GandalfThePink42
      August 7, 2016 at 8:55 pm

The thing about Curator is that if you are playing a strategy around more than one of those tribes, your strategy is bad and it would be more useful to draw from the rest of your deck, which is probably better value.

I’m sorry, I just can’t imagine any deck that makes use of cards from two tribes, and if you say Reno decks, then you are just as likely to draw that one copy of your murloc or beast card before you draw Curator, dropping it’s value.

However, Malchezaar can give you Boogeymonster and Nat the Darkfisher, and diluting your strategy by adding in random legendary cards can’t be a great idea. It could combo with Barnes, and could always give you the perfect Deathwing, but it won’t do anything close 95% of the time.

That being said, I can see this card being played in control warrior or priest (Hahaha, priest) due to it increasing your deck size, and can be used alongside of Elise to “re-roll” your Boogeymonsters and such, so it could possibly work.

Moral of the story is, both are pretty bad, but I look forward to decks made around them.

you cant really compare the two as they are completeley differnet and will prob not go togther. If you look at the overall picture i would say prince as the curator is much more specifiv as you could put the prince in lots of random decks to some value

I gave this card quite a bit of thought and came to a conclusion that it is kinda bad afterall. I predict it won’t see much play in constructed and especially at higher ranks. After considering this for a while I don’t seem to find a reason for having 5 more legendaries in my deck that I havent already put in there. If I wanted some specific legs in my deck – I would have put them in at the stage of constructing my deck, can’t see how 5 random cards would help unless in fatigue situations which are really rare in the current meta. And apart from that it is just a 5/6 body for 5, which you don’t want to put in your constructed deck.
To summarise this seems like a nice card for people who are just starting and don’t have any good legendaries. Also good for fun games, similar to “renounce darkness”. And pretty op if someone managed to get this in the arena. Apart from that nothing spectacular.

      Yeah, I agree.
I was thinking how to get more advantage from this demon, maybe in Rogue decks with the new Ethereal Peddler, I mean if the 5 legendary cards are from other classes they cost 2 less.

It’s going to be bonkers in fatigue decks. We already know that being able to put cards into your deck with Elise and Entomb is pretty big, so how big is it for them to just be able to start with five more? Fatigue Warrior is going to become a force to be reckoned with, and Fatigue Priest might make a comeback.

Are the legend added random? DO you need to have the legendary in your collection? If you can pick the five legendary it will be included in every deck for every archetype for ever. Otherwise is just a funny clown that can add loremaster chow to your zoo and Thirion fordridge to your opponent!

I’d guess that the legends are random and do not need to be in your collection.

It allows 35 cards decks but i am not sure if it is as op as it seems. In control warrior you are less likely to hit axe, bash, doomsayer or whatever early game cleaner you runa. So you will lose lots of games cause a bad start. And the most important thing, if warriot gets to fatigue he wins alredy almost any single game. In general any control deck dont need to be more strong when the game is long. It just has value against other control deck. So i only see this beeing usefull in a sΓΊper control meta. If zoo, shaman and haunter still strong this card wont work. It will be a card that allows some fatigue decks, that will be viable but not top.

This card is probably the best card for a control deck I have ever seen. It is a fatigue fighter, solid stats, and gives control decks more options. The only down side that people need to be aware of is that it can clog up your deck. Anyone that has played with a control deck understands the pain of playing against aggro and having a starting hand of Dr. Boom, Ysera and Grommash. Adding 5 legendaries to your deck makes it harder to draw into solutions in some cases, but overall I still think this card will be exceedingly good.

      August 1, 2016 at 9:04 am

i think you keep that in mind when building a deck with this guy and curve out slightly lower

    • Captain Falcon
      August 1, 2016 at 9:28 am

It also reduces the consistency of your deck which is bad for control decks. It is a trade off of power in exchange for consistency. Invariably, someone is going to draw a Lorewalker Cho or Millhouse Manastorm when a Fiery War Axe would have sufficed.

      • Othy
        August 1, 2016 at 12:50 pm

Assuming your opponent still was running 30, it would allow you to play a bit more draw in control and get some consistency back. Many control decks can easily fit in or even just play (but are forced to hold) a bit more draw but they don’t because they can’t support the fatigue when it matters. Overall consistency will go up but I think it will be slightly less than at first glance. The draw would still hurt in the control mirror though assuming they were also running malchezaar, so it might be moot since the only reason to play this is for against those decks. You’d still probably would come out ahead if you were running golden monkey to eventually get value from the draw cards and golden monkey would also allow you to reroll the bad legendaries you got the first time.

I think this is just going to become a meta tech card since it really is just tech to increase deck size. If control is good, control becomes commonly played. If control is common you play this card to beat control. If this card is commonly played, you also have to play it if you are control and it becomes common for all control. (This point would be a little sad because the mirror is likely going to rng.) If control with this card is common, agro becomes stronger against control since this card only consistently helps in slow games. If agro is strong, control with this card is less good. And the meta continues. I really think this is going to be a see how the meta shakes out card.

Meant to say overall consistency will go down

Interesting card. Obviously great for control vs control matchups but terrible for control vs aggro since you’ll be drawing random legendaries that probably cost 6+ mana instead of the board clears you need. I would think is only useful in decks that regularly go to fatigue. Even for something like Control Warrior, this means you have a significantly lower chance of starting with Fiery War Axe, top-decking that Brawl, etc.

        • Othy
          August 1, 2016 at 12:24 pm

It’s not going to be strong enough to level the playing field (assuming it works like I’ve seen elsewhere and follows deckbuilding rules so no duplicates of legendaries you are already have in deck and your class only.) It is only good for fatigue padding and fatigue decks aren’t necessarily a cheap archetype because they tend to require specific cards.

That being said it will be great for new players because not being able to play with legendaries is one of the least fun things about being a new player. This is an amazingly well executed way of giving new players easy access to legendaries without actually messing up the collection balance.
