In constructed this card is only decent in an aggro rogue deck. That is not that popular cause you can’t really see good drawing mechanism, and other aggro decks are better.

In arena this card will ruin some guys dreams. It’s that good. It will make you want to clear rogue board to play around it.

    Balanced card

    Turn 7 : knife juggler + plague scientist + 1 drop + 1 drop. Potentially killing 3 minions. I like it.

He’s right, its similar to the pyromancer adapt-poison interaction

as long as the poison card deals dmg, it kills

This card looks no so bad perhaps can work with the rogue quest to remove some taunt minions or also can be used with wild pyromancer or knive juggler to remove one random minion but I dont know maybe is better wait for the rest of the set to try some other interactions.

Great for rogue, and another card to keep pirate warrior viable to break the taunts of opponent. It will be a popular card.

      It’s a rogue class card.

More insane arena cards for rogue.

I’m not sure on this when it comes to constructed… on one hand Rogues decks often have to be totally streamlined and focused, you might get an Eater of Secrets teched into a (Malygos) Miracle Rogue deck *maybe* but that would generally be it, everything else would be focused on the theme of the deck and I can’t quite see where this slots in. Especially since it’s in direct competition for a slot with S:17 Agent.

On the other hand, it’s potentially a budget Vilespine Slayer when combined with a disposable minion (Swashburglar, Jade Swarmer or Patches the Pirate) – except it won’t remove Divine Shield minions like Tol’vir Shaper or Tirion Fordring.

I could be waaaay off, of course, I didn’t think Sherazin Corpse flower would see anywhere near as much play as it has.

Interesting point, keep in mind that this new Plague Scientist is a common, that’s why an extra condition is needed to kill (deal damage). In the other hand, Vilespine Slayer is an epic minion who destroy immediately with the combo.
This Plague Scientist is also interesting to deal with minions in the very early game, your Swashburglar could kill a 3/3 pirate or something similar.

Many variants of a more tempo-focused rogue have been gaining popularity, so i think this card easily has potential with a deck like that. You could see plays like turn 1 swashburglar (with patches) into turn 2 coin plague scientist, which could really net you some pretty solid tempo.

Thinking about it, the things you really want to remove start appearing around turn 3 – Tar Creeper for instance – so it might almost be worth holding onto that Swashburglar (with Patches in the deck) until turn 4 and use it as the combo activator.

Swashburglar (pulls Patches) > Plague Scientist (makes Patches poisonous) > bye bye Tar Creeper
        – and you’ve got an extra 2/3 and a 1/1 on the board and copied a card from your opponents class; that’s a pretty good exchange.

… but then again, on turn 4 you can (counterfeit) coin into Vilespine Slayer. Of course you *could* then use a Plague Scientist next turn to make that Slayer poisonous 🙂

I think it’s got possibilities in Tempo Rogue – or even a slower Quest Rogue (bounce the Scientist for repeated poisonings) – Miracle… I’m not so sure.

Rogue is getting access to a possible board clear with pyromancer. That combined with the lifesteal keyword may lead to some interesting, slower Rogue archetypes.

The fact that this “combo” would be a 3 card board clear could even be a problem for rogue. Especially since you need the exact 3 cards in hand and be on at least 4 mana. It is basically a worse but more reliable pyromancer+adapt or comparable to a 3 card equalicration. I don’t know how valuable this board clear is gonna be since rogue always focused more on single card removal than clearing the board.

Pretty good card works very well with minions with natural stealth or anything that’s sticky

7/10 unfortunatly its in rogue which doesn’t create small guys from something like a hero power could be used with patches shooting from your deck.

what about 1/1 stealth jade swarmer?

This will go nicely with wild pyromancer.

  11. Advocaat
    July 25, 2017 at 3:46 am

I think it’s pretty strong even in constructed. It forces your opponent to clear every smallest minion of yours. Even 1/1 can get huge value because of this.

    • Advocaat
      July 25, 2017 at 3:49 am

It’s almost like hunter’s Crackling Razormaw but with guaranteed poisonous adaptation (which is one of the strongest)

3/2/3 another good card in arena
    But not in constructed
If this’s 2/2/3 or 2/2/2, this could be awesome in constructed

Just my two cents, but I welcome any decent rogue cards that are aimed towards a more control-like playstyle. This card is another rogue removal, that comes earlier than assassinate/the assasinate plant (forgot the name lol), but is more situational. On the other hand, the combos pointed out by others in this forum, like patches into coin, baron geddon with poison, or even pyromancer+this (though unfortunately that prevents auctioneer from being utilized), make this card a potential inclusion if a slower, more control-oriented rogue archetype emerges.

Overall, this might be one of the dark horses of this expansion, and it’s really hard to evaluate its strength before release.

as quoted from kripp’s stream: “good arena card for rogue in the common slot”

  15. Xix
    July 24, 2017 at 11:47 pm

What a scary arena card and it’s even common. Meaning rogues can easyly get 3x copy’s of this in their deck.

Not to mention this is a potential boardclear with wild Pyromancer although a bit more clunky than the equality combo. Or Combo this with baron Geddon for a board clear each turn… (although i doubt that will see play)
But most often we will see swashburglar into patches folowed by this guy to poison patches to clear that tar creeper on turn 4 or turn 3 with a coin.

I think this is a 5 star card, seeing play in pretty much every rogue deck that run’s swashburgler/patches combo.

Ok this card is actually not that bad. It’s definitely not meant to be an early game card. But has potential there are a number of ways to combo it with other cards, and it can make dealing with large taunt minions (something rogue does struggle with) a little easier.

Another USELESS trash card added! WP Blizzard. I don’t understand why they didn’t reveal more cards yet also they are doing it one by one and via some unknown streamer and china forum… why don’t create an reveal event with Brode e.t.c and reveal +10 card there then another +10 e.t.c.

P.S. somehow i sense this expansion will be meh…

Arena maybe but who cares about arena this one is lol. In constructed imho this is trash!!! 3 mana 2/3
is bad very bad in constructed if it was 2 mana 2/3 or 2 mana 3/4 then it would be a thing!

        • Moltar
          July 25, 2017 at 6:06 am

2 mana 3/4 and no side effect? You sure you are playing hearthstone?

F@CK it, lets just print a 2 mana 3/4 that reads: Give the Meta poisonous and win the game.

This card + Geddon + N’zoth Tentacle + Seargente Sally

      July 24, 2017 at 10:03 pm

Yeah it is totally insane with geddon, a repetitive deathwing without discarding your hand. Tried it in paladin with mutation and it was insane

      July 24, 2017 at 10:16 pm

      Don’t forget Wild Pyromancer

      • Dude
        July 25, 2017 at 9:42 am

Dont think too complicated. Playing tons of small minions like firefly and swashburgler naturally activates this card. At that point it doesnt even matter whether u are holding the scientist, that fact that it exists, forces ur opponent to clear every small piece of junk u have on the board, similarly to the shaman totems & fireflys, coz u r scared of bloodlust.

    • Anton Wilzewski
      July 24, 2017 at 10:28 pm

But also having a card that mutates to poisonous all the time is insane, all the swashburglars are deadly now and you can bounce the plaque scientist.

This is great for arena! but pretty meh for competitive play

It’s pretty much Envenom Weapon, but harder to use,

Since you have to have a minion on board and pull off a combo

    Over just using hero power

but you get a 2-3 body for 3, should be interesting to see if it’s used, I don’t play rogue much so I can’t judge it that well
