Blizzard Is Looking For Talent For Their New, Unannounced Survival Game

While it’s not Hearthstone related, if you’re a fan of Blizzard franchises, you might find this interesting! The company has announced that they’re looking for world designers (art, writing, engineering) for their upcoming project. It’s going to be a new IP, survival game released on PC and console (I’m happy that it’s not a mobile game).

If they’re looking for people to build the world, it means that the game is in very early stages of development and we shouldn’t expect it any time soon, but it’s still exciting to see that Blizzard devs are working on something fresh.

Read more and potentially apply below!

P.S. Is it just me or it’s pretty weird to call it an “unannounced” game if they just kind of announced it?

Blizzard is embarking on our next quest. We are going on a journey to a whole new universe, home to a brand-new survival game for PC and console. A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored.

Every story needs a teller. And every world needs builders. What if that could be you?

For thirty years, Blizzard has been creating universes for millions of players around the globe. This requires a diverse team of developers willing to lend their voices, to listen and to be heard. That is our mission.

Do you like survival games? Do you want to join a collaborative team of experienced developers at the early stage of a new project in a new world…and help write the next chapter in Blizzard’s story?

This is your call to adventure. Will you answer it?

This is just China grind garbage. I hate everything about this project – looks like Blizzard has gone full blown retard about grind & freemium formula for its hamster in a wheel ideas for games. Seems Blizzard has absolutely forgotten about the type of intrigue and presentation that made their games successful in the first place. Notice that everything has to look peachy and pseudo-violent to appeal to China’s terrible tastes. This seems great for anyone who can watch the Warcraft movie without throwing up.

As much as I hate China with it’s dictatorship, there’s the money coming from. You can’t expect any game developer to block/reduce access to Chinese people, because as we all know, they are gamers too.

It’s kinda pointless really to mock Blizzard for something like this. As we all know, Tencent and Sony still probably much bigger than Microsoft-ActiBlizz at this moment and they also have big market there. What else can you do if not making the games to be in their interest?

It’s my honest opinion. So, I can’t totally agree with this.

I was joking with a friend, because of the Microsoft acquisition, that now they are going to create a kind of Wow but single player. Then today I saw this news… Do you think it could be a Microsoft thing? Even they saying it would take a year to complete the acquisition process.

From what I’ve heard, it was already planned pre-Microsoft. Acti-Blizzard is still operating independently until mid-2023, and while I’m sure that they’re communicating closely with Microsoft, most of the stuff you see right now was already in plans for months before the acquisition talks even took place.

Given that the game is only in the planning stages, though, most of the development should take place under Microsoft already so the final product will 100% be influenced by the company. I also think that it might be an Xbox/PC exclusive because they most likely didn’t make any commitments to Sony (or Nintendo) yet.

6 years without new game, and they started a new one? What? Those gonna take at least 2-4 years before we seeing some gameplay.

Here’s a better idea. Allocate all your resources to finish Diablo IV and Overwatch 2. Then start doing something new. *SMH*

I get what you mean, but I don’t think it’s that easy. The thing about game dev is that throwing more devs at a game won’t necessarily make it come out quicker. From my (I have to say quite limited) experience, adding too many devs to a project might even slow things down. For example, multiple devs trying to work on the same part of the code might be faster, but it will probably result in way more bugs that could take even longer to fix. You know, like in the saying “too many cooks spoil the broth” 🙂

I’m not really following Overwatch 2’s development, but it looks like Diablo IV is progressing quite nicely. I’m looking at their quarterly updates and things look promising. And this one is clearly in super early stages, like they’re only creating the game’s world, story, basic mechanics and so on. Sending those devs to Diablo 4 or Overwatch 2 team wouldn’t do anything. I can imagine that by the time they actually start working on the game itself, Overwatch 2 will already release and Diablo IV will be close.

I know a little bit about programming and coding, and I really should broaden things when I said “allocating all resources”.

Developing games can be divided into assets, or “modules” and the more devs thrown into it, the more aspect of the game can be covered, hence the more work will be done faster.
Yes, a multiple devs can make a messier coding if they work on the same subject. But let’s be honest, there’s probably more than hundreds objects that also needs work, and each devs can work with each different assets without disrupting other devs.

So, like I said, the more resources thrown into developing ongoing work the better. And I must press this again, if they were to pay more money & bonus to their devs instead of board member like Kotick and his cult, we won’t have to wait until 6 years to get a taste of new game.

I know a “little” about programming too. Over 10 years of experience in three different companies, along with a Master’s degree in CS and several years of teaching in different universities.

Guess what? You don’t have a clue as to what you are talking about.

Tardis you are a grand fool, obsessed with attacking h0ly. Compared to the info h0ly gave, you seem like you are the one without a clue. You have given 0 reason to believe you have any credentials.

Although I have to express my gratitude, I just have to say, please don’t waste anymore time tending to any reply that doesn’t add any value to conversation.

              Simply put, just ignore it.
