Machinima’s Deck Wars is a season based tournament that pits well-known Hearthstone players against each other every week. After 12 weeks, the winners gather for a finale with a grand prize of $1,000!

Game 1

Kungen – Miracle Rogue vs. Amaz

Missed this round, sorry!

Results: Kungen Wins (1 – 0)

Game 2

Kungen – Miracle Rogue vs. Amaz – Midrange Shaman

Early trades lead to a fairly even board, but Kungen doesn’t have the Auctioneer that he needs to go off. Kungen draws the Auctioneer which could save his bacon on turn 8. Amaz top decks a Lava Burst but he’s one off lethal! He’s forced to play a Defender of Argus to keep him from being finished. Kungen can’t draw the damage he needs to finish off Amaz, and he eats a Lava Burst to the face for lethal.

Results: Amaz Wins (1 – 1)

Game 3

Kungen – Control Warrior vs. Amaz – Midrange Shaman

Amaz is able to keep his life total high while continuing to control the board. Grommash Hellscream comes out for Kungen and Amaz is forced to use Lightning Storm to clear it. Kungen plays Alexstrasza taking Amaz down to 15, and follows it up the next turn by copying it with Faceless Manipulator. Amaz finally draws one of his Hex and he’s able to take out both of the Alexstrasza. Kungen went from having the game easily won to drawing dead, and he’s forced to concede!

Results: Amaz Wins (2 – 1)

Game 4

Kungen –  HandLock vs. Amaz – Midrange Shaman

Kungen Soulfire’s an Unbound Elemental in hopes that he’ll be able to Mortal Coil it, but Mortal Coil is immediately discarded! Kungen gets two Molten Giant on the board, and Amaz can’t finish him on the following turn. One eats a Hex, and all of a sudden Kungen is in control. Amaz is staring down a taunted Molten Giant and an Ancient Watcher. What a comeback by Kungen, he finishes Amaz off with a huge board and a Power Overwhelming!

Results: Kungen Wins (2 – 2)

Game 5

Kungen –  HandLock vs. Amaz – Midrange Priest

Two Sen’Jin Shieldmasta out for Amaz early, and Kungen is looking for a way to answer. Kungen gets a big Twilight Drake on the board and taunts it with a Sunfury Protector. Turn 9 and Alexstrasza comes out and takes Amaz from 30 to 15. Amaz is able to take out the Alexstrasza, and heal himself back up to 23 with a Holy Fire and an Earthen Ring Farseer. Kungen quickly gets a Molten Giant taunted up with Defender of Argus. Kungen just drew a Leeroy Jenkins and had lethal in hand, but doesn’t see it! Amaz is ONE OFF LETHAL AGAIN! Kungen realizes his mistake from the previous turn and finishes off Amaz.

Kolento vs. ek0p

Game 1

Kolento – Midrange Shaman (This deck is correct) vs. ek0p – HandLock

Ek0p gets a Mountain Giant out and clears Kolento’s Azure Drake with a Soulfire. The first Hex quiets the Giant, and out comes a second Mountain Giant for ek0p. Fire Elemental pings the Giant down to 5, but the Fire Elemental eats a Siphon Soul. Kolento is able to take down the Mountain Giant with a Flametongue Totem buffed Argent Commander. Hellfire clears out most of the danage for ek0p, and out comes two Ancient Watcher unbuffed. Kolento uses his second Fire Elemental and a Golem to take out one of the Ancient Watcher. He also throws out a Mana Tide Totem, which is quickly taken out by a silenced Ancient Watcher. Big Game Hunter out for ek0p which gets the Shadowflame treatment and that clears Kolento’s board. Molten Giant out for ek0p but that gets the second hex from Kolento. Ek0p double buffs with Defender of Argus and Kolento can’t get through or clear the board. Ek0p finishes the game with Leeroy Jenkins.

Game 2

Kolento – Miracle Rogue (This deck is correct) vs. ek0p – HandLock

Kolento forced to used a Backstab, Eviscerate, and Deadly Poison to take out a Twilight Drake. Wow, Kolento casts the Coldlight Oracle and uses Shadowstep to force ek0p to burn three cards! Kolento uses Sap to send back a Mountain Giant and he gets out a 6/6 Edwin VanCleef along with a Earthen Ring Farseer. The Siphon Soul comes out for ek0p and takes out the VanCleef. Ek0p gets two Mountain Giant on the board, and Kolento cannot find the Gadgetzan Auctioneer that he needs. He saps a Mountain Giant back, and ek0p comes out with Mountain Giant again and taunts the two up. Kolento again doesn’t draw the Auctioneer and he’s facing lethal damage on the board. Kolento decides to concede.

Game 3

Kolento – Token Druid (This deck is correct) vs. ek0p – HandLock

Here we see a deck that’s been getting more popular recently in the Token Druid from Kolento. The cards do not seem to be falling Kolento’s way as his board gets nearly cleared with a Hellfire. His turn 4 play is a Keeper of the Grove and silencing his own Argent Squire. Mountain Giant out on the board for ek0p, and the Keeper eats a Soulfire. Ek0p gets a Molten Giant out and taunts it and his Mountain Giant with Defender of Argus. Kolento eats 9 damage and is staring lethal down on the board. Kolento has to Force of Nature into Wrath to take out one of the Giants. Kolento is at 8 health and he draws dead.

Results: ek0p Wins (3 – 0)

Savjz vs. Admirable

Game 1

Savjz – Midrange Shaman vs. Admirable – Midrange Shaman (Running Big Game Hunter, Auctioneer, and The Black Knight)

Savjz takes control going deeper into the mid-game, but Admirable comes out with a Defender of Argus on a totem and a Wild Pyromancer. Admirable able to use Lightning Storm and a Bloodmage Thalnos to clear the board. Admirable’s Fire Elemental gets hexed, and the board control swapping continues. Defender of Argus comes out for Savjz on a Fire Elemental, but he doesn’t know that Admirable is running Big Game Hunter and The Black Knight. BGH takes out the Fire Elemental, and the game starts to swing into Admirable’s favor. Admirable gets a few more draws off his Auctioneer and it’s enough to finish off Savjz.

Results: Admirable Wins (1 – 0)

Game 2

Savjz – Miracle Rogue vs. Admirable – Midrange Shaman (Running Big Game Hunter, Auctioneer, and The Black Knight)

A pretty slow start from both players. Savjz draws the Gadgetzan Auctioneer on turn 3, and it sees the board quickly on turn 5. Savjz uses Conceal on the Auctioneer, but Admirable is able to use Wild Pyromancer, Lightning Storm, and the coin to clear it from the board. Savjz is able to keep clearing threats with a lot of spells, but he’s still looking for his second Auctioneer to seal this game. Al’akir hits the board for Admirable, but Savjz is able to clear it with a Deadly Poison and Blade Flurry. Savjz is looking for Leeroy, but doesn’t draw it with 8 cards left in his deck. Savjz uses double Cold Blood on his hexed minion making one of the biggest frog’s I’ve ever seen. Savjz digs for Leeroy with a Coldlight Oracle, but still can’t pull it from the deck. Admirable draws his second Rockbiter Weapon and that’s enough damage to finish off Savjz!

Game 3

Savjz – HandLock (Lord Jaraxxus version) vs. Admirable – Midrange Shaman (Running Big Game Hunter, Auctioneer, and The Black Knight)

Savjz gets a Mountain Giant out early, but it’s quickly Hex’d and taken out. The second Mountain Giant comes out and gets taunted with Sunfury Protector. No Hex in the hand for Admirable, but he’s able to use Flametongue Totem and a Rockbiter Weapon to take out the Giant. Savjz’s first Molten Giant hits the board, and it’s taken out with a Lightning Storm and a Fire Elemental. Oh no, Savjz accidentally throws out a Defender of Argus and that might cost him the game. Admirable is able to by pass Savjz’s last taunted Giant and uses Al’akir to finish him off!

Results: Admirable Wins (3 – 0)

Forsen vs. Alchemixt

Game 1

Forsen – Control Warrior vs. Alchemixt – Zoo Warlock (Big Game Hunter, The Black Knight)

Forsen able to get out to a very strong start early by easily dealing with Alchemixt’s minions. Forsen makes a bit of a bad read, and The Black Knight turns the board around for Alchemixt. Forsen is able to Shield Slam the Knight, but loses tempo and the board. Baron Geddon comes out and takes down a minion, but is quickly taken out with BGH. Ragnaros out for Forsen against a four minion board. Alchemixt is in control, but he’s down to 10 health and hoping Forsen doesn’t have the Gromm. Forsen wisely puts Alchemixt to seven and has the Gorehowl in hand. Alchemixt can’t finish off Forsen and he eats a Gorehowl for his troubles.

Results: Forsen Wins (1 – 0)

Game 2

Forsen – Control Warrior vs. Alchemixt – Face Hunter (Freezing Trap, Snipe)

Alchemixt is chipping away at Forsen, but the Warrior is able to keep his armor up with an Armorsmith. Buzzard into Unleash comes out and gets Alchemixt a bit ahead, but it’s quickly cleared with Baron Geddon. A Misdirection sitting on Alcehmixt’s side that is stopping Forsen from doing any damage. Alchemixt is just short of lethal, and Forsen finally triggers the Misdirection with an Acolyte of Pain. Alchemixt just can’t get lethal, and Forsen is able to finish him off with a Gorehowl.

Results: Forsen Wins (2 – 0)

Game 3

Forsen – Control Warrior vs. Alchemixt – Aggro Mage

Armorsmith out for Forsen which makes Alchemixt’s hand pretty awkward. Water Elemental gets some value for Alchemixt. Forsen eats a ton of spell damage to the face and is frozen with a Gorehowl on the board. Alchemixt had Forsen to 10, but was one mana short of finishing him with a Pyroblast. Archmage Antonidas out on the board and Forsen is forced to throw out Rag. The Ragnaros misses the Antonidas and that gives the game to Alchemixt!

Results: Alchemixt Wins (1 – 2)

Game 4

Forsen – Miracle Rogue vs. Alchemixt – Aggro Mage

Alchemixt putting up a wall of Mirror Image to slow some early damage from Forsen. Forsen gets the Auctioneer on time and goes off with the card draw. Flamestrike clears the board for Alchemixt, but Forsen has the double Shadowstep and Leeroy in his hand.  Alchemixt has 17 damage in his hand, but Forsen is at 20! Forsen finishes off Alchemixt with the Leeroy combo.

Results: Forsen Wins (3 – 1)

StrifeCro vs. Chakki

Game 1

StrifeCro – Midrange Shaman  (Chillwind Yeti) vs. Chakki – Watcher Druid

A taunted Ancient Watcher out for Chakki early, but StrifeCro is able to take it out with a Flametongue Totem and friends. Chakki double Innervates out an Ancient of Lore to draw cards. StrifeCro in control, but a Big Game Hunter takes out a buffed Fire Elemental and swings the game back into Chakki’s favor. Both are low on cards, but StrifeCro is in the life lead. StrifeCro clears the board, and pushes for damage bringing Chakki down to 7 health. Chakki can’t draw a taunt to keep him from lethal and concedes!

Results: StrifeCro Wins (1 – 0)

Game 2

StrifeCro – Midrange Shaman (Chillwind Yeti) vs. Chakki – Control Warrior

Chakki gets the advantage early with a Fiery War Axe and an Armorsmith. StrifeCro gets a Chillwind Yeti on the board, and Chakki is in no position to get rid of it after burning an Execute on an Unbound Elemental. Two Yetis out for StrifeCro, but Chakki draws the two answers he needs in Kor’kron Elite and Shield Slam. StrifeCro gets some board presence, but Baron Geddon hits the board and clear a couple of totems. Some board trading back and forth, and out comes a Doomhammer for StrifeCro and a Fiery War Axe for Chakki. StrifeCro gets the Rockbiter he needs, but he doesn’t have enough damage to finish off Chakki. We’re getting close to fatigue, and Chakki is back up to 24 health with a Shield Block, but StrifeCro gets a full board with Wolves, Unbound, and an Azure Drake. Chakki forced to Ragnaros, and he does hit a Wolf keeping him alive. StrifeCro top decks a Hex to deal with the Rag. Chakki draws his final card, GROMMASH HELLSCREAM, unfortunate luck for Chakki. Finally, StrifeCro is able to finish Chakki with a Rockbiter attached Doomhammer.

Results: StrifeCro Wins (2 – 0)

Game 3

StrifeCro – Midrange Shaman (Chillwind Yeti) vs. Chakki – Miracle Rogue

Strife gets Feral Spirit out early, but it gets cleared with a Blade Flurry. Another Feral Spirit out for StrifeCro, and Chakki gets the Assassin’s Blade out to take out one of the wolves. Chakki goes off with the Auctioneer, and clears the board of StrifeCro. The Shadowstepped Auctioneer comes out and he gets more draw going. He still has no Leeroy, but he’s putting together a heavy amount of damage in his hand. Strife has lethal if he rolls the spellpower totem, but he doesn’t get it! Chakki is able to finish off StrifeCro with a Leeroy.

Results: Chakki Wins (1 – 2)

Game 4

StrifeCro – Watcher Druid vs. Chakki – Miracle Rogue

StrifeCro gets a quick silence out on an Ancient Watcher and starts putting the pressure on Chakki. A desperate Si:7 Agent out for Chakki that is quickly hit with Wrath by StrifeCro. Quickly Chakki is down to 13 damage, and a charged Druid of the Claw comes out and brings down Chakki to 9. Chakki still has no answer, and eats 5 more damage and is down to 4. A Force of Nature finishes off Chakki in a dominating performance by StrifeCro!
