Duplicate Legendary Issue: Blademaster Samuro & Mankrik Will Offer Full Dust Refunds For a Week After Pre-Release

Last week, we’ve learned that players won’t get Blademaster Samuro or Mankrik from the free Pre-Order Legendaries to prevent those two from messing up with the early rewards track rewards (remember that regular Mankrik is Level 1 on the normal rewards track and Diamond Samuro is Level 1 on Tavern Pass track).

However, there was still an issue of early pack openings during pre-release weekend. Since the new rewards track won’t be out yet, players who open Golden Mankrik, or regular/golden Blademaster Samuro (if they want to buy Tavern Pass) are kind of “wasting” those Legendaries that could have been something else instead. To address that, Golden Mankrik, as well as Regular/Golden Samuro will have full dust refunds for the week following pre-release. It means that if you open it, you can disenchant it for a full crafting cost and get something else instead. In other words – you don’t need to worry about opening it and then getting duplicate from rewards track.

With Forged in the Barrens Pre-Release weekend coming up we wanted to share a quick update on an issue we’ve discovered which affects how two new Legendary cards, Mankrik and Blademaster Samuro, are acquired.

As a reminder, Mankrik will be available to everyone for free at level 1 on the Forged in the Barrens Rewards Track, and Diamond Blademaster Samuro will be available at level 1 on the Forged in the Barrens Tavern Pass. However, Forged in the Barrens card packs opened before visiting the Reward Track, and during Pre-Release weekend, can contain Blademaster Samuro or Golden Mankrik (in place of another Legendary card).

To address this, full Dust refunds will be available for the week following Pre-Release, this applies to golden Mankrik, non-golden Blademaster Samuro, and golden Blademaster Samuro.

If I’m a mediocre F2P player and have amassed only about 6000 gold, is it smarter to get 60 packs of the new set of cards, or get 40 packs of the new set and get the darkmoon faire mini-set?

Hi. I am F2P as well. I never find the need to exchange gold for packs. Just buy ten packs for the guaranteed legendary. That’s all I need. Craft cards you need with dust and disenchant cards you don’t like. I only play fun decks that I have build myself. Note, I never play any aggro / token decks. Those are cheap to build anyways.

Honestly, it heavily depends on what archetypes you like to play. If they were supported by the Darkmoon Faire mini-set, then it might be nice to get it.

But long-term, I’d probably get 40 packs from The Barrens and save 2k gold for Barrens mini-set that will come out in ~2 months. Darkmoon Faire will stay in Standard until 2022, Barrens until 2023, so an entire year longer.

It’s hard to answer this question without knowing way more details.
