Mulligans

General Mulligans

The mulligans for this deck can go one or two ways. I generally either try for a quick Twilight Whelp and Netherspite Historian, or a Mana Geode and Kabal Talonpriest. If you get the Twilight Whelp, I suggest ensuring you have another dragon in your hand before playing it in order to get the buff.

The Mana Geode and Kabal Talonpriest go hand in hand and are great for getting quick 2/2 minions on the board. Once you buff the Mana Geode with the Kabal Talonpriest, it generally allows you to get at least two Crystals onto the board and gain board control early on.

Finally, Blubber Baron is a great card to mulligan for, as although it generally isn't played on turn three, it will be getting buffs from the rest of your minions that you play (with the exception of a few).

This is a new take on the typical dragon priest deck.

The Mana Geode is great for early game and almost always guarantees board control (or your opponent casting removal spells on it). I generally try and ring it out on turn one so that I can get a heal in on turn two. This seems to work pretty well against the typical midrange shaman decks or the new pirate warriors, but as said before watch out for the removal spells.

I threw in the Blubber Baron just to try out the card, and it works surprisingly well considering the majority of this deck contains battlecry minions. The Rend Blackhand is always nice to get rid of those late game legendaries and the Wrathion is great for saturating your hand (just be careful against mill decks). A few of the cards can be replaced, but overall this deck has been a blast to play.

I’ll be working on refining it over the next few weeks, so a few of the cards may change depending on what kinds of issues arise. I’ll try to come back and update this guide with more strategy related information when I get some more time, but figured I would post this up for now. I’m still somewhat new to building decks, so please let me know what you think!

Any replacement for Rend? I disenchanted a while ago because I thought he was trash.

Try subbing in Big Game Hunter.

Or I suppose a second Entomb could work.
