It’s time to locate the Golden Monkey and have a fistful of legendaries! This is fairly close to what’s becoming a standard control priest, but it adds in the new card Elise Starseeker for that extra monkey value. You’ll also find the new card Museum Curator which seems to be a popular pick amongst Priest players.

Update – December 28th, 2015

-2 Flash Heal, -1 Shadow Word: Pain, -1 Excavated Evil, +2 Velen's Chosen, +1 Injured Blademaster, +1 Harrison Jones

Replacement for Justicar, Harrison, elise, entomb and museum?
Just want to try out the play style while I’m collecting gold and dust for league of explorer and the others

Elise Starseeker is literally the reason you’re playing this deck dude haha. Entomb is your only hard removal other than Lightbomb and Holy Nova. You can replace it with another Holy Nova and Holy Fire I guess. Museum Curator– You can opt to out it with an Acolyte of Pain to draw more cards. Justicar Trueheart is a staple since you want to heal more. As for Harrison, you can switch him with Dr. Boom I guess if you haven’t found Elise yet.

will there be any further updates of this deck? If Kibler himself doesn’t update it, can it be updated on this site or a new golden monkey priest deck be made? Thanks.

I’m not sure if he will use this deck anymore. If you’re registered to the site, you can use the “Edit” button and update a different version of it if you’d like!

why is cabal shadow priest not included in this deck?

Mana effiency becomes somewhat irrelevant, when an entombed Jaraxxus (15 Mana) is game deciding. ‘Entomb’ is a fantastic card!

    replacement for harrison? loatheb?

The Pyromancers are making this a good deck against Aggro Rush. But the Monkey is not always helpful. The Entomb not always has the target, it deserves. (But the overpaid Mana can sometimes bring a game winning effect even by removing a cheap but crucial target.) All in all, the deck is neither a let-down nor a reason for overwhelming joy. One should see it as a Starseeker fun deck; an attempt for climbing the ladder asks for something more reliable.

Sylvanas or Loatheb for Harrison Jones, and you could try second Holy Nova and Shadow Word: Death for Lightbomb.

Was wondering what I could sub for both lightbombs, Justicar, both chows, both pyromancers? I have 400 dust but I think I should save it for Justicar and try to rely on packs for the rest. (One wing away from zombie chow in naxx tho)

I’d try another deck, that’s probably too much to replace and this deck isn’t super competitive.

Ok, so this deck is nice against aggro decks (i won all my games) but it loses against decks with big threats like : murloc paladin, combo druid, freeze mage because u dont have enough threats. And this monkey card is not viable, i drew it only once and it was my 26th card… Better put Ysera…

This is NOT standard control priest and noone said it was! Read the title-.-

Used this deck for the last couple of days and won most of them! The golden monkey can be a nice addition if you get it, but most of the time it will be in the last 10 card draws. I find it extremely satisfying that you’re busy with controlling the board for most of the game.

Only lost against some tunnel trogg shamans, 1 or 2 zoo locks and a face hunter..

    So much fun! ^^

dont think it’s a problem, that the deck is “weak” at the end of the curve. against aggro, you don’t really need your sylvanas and yseras and against control, the idea is to entomb the enemy threads and get them in your deck. also the museum curators can help apply some pressure, as there are lots of aggressive deathrattle minions out there. it’s also a very flexible card… even if it is really slow.

This deck is perfect to counter recent aggro meta … and even vs control you have so many removal for big minions & board clears + Eloise that you still stand a valid chance to take the game. Although it sounds strange sometimes you get swarmed to death with not enough AoE removal by aggro decks

I think we are a touch light on threats. You can’t always rely on the golden monkey to come through for you. Thoughts on prophet velen for that extra burn/recovery at the end and the 7/7 body? I also haven’t been thrilled with the pyros.

velen is too slow right now and easily killed. i’d rather run a confessor paletress or ysera instead of him. (and this is coming from a guy who LOVES velen and decks built around him)

I have played about 20 games with this deck, with a winrate around 40% (level 9 to 12).

I could ONLY ONCE play the golden monkey, as my last card in my deck and three cards in my hand…

Do you think that 2nd Holy nova or Excavated evil will be good replacement for 1x Lightbomb , If not , what you suggest ?

I’d be between Shadow Word: Death and Holy Nova, and I’d probably choose Shadow Word: Death.

What would be a good replacement for justicar trueheart? It’s next on my list to craft, but right now I don’t have the dust for it.

Why not replacing deathlords with dark cultists or injured blademasters?
Deathlords make me lose a lot of games. Am I missing something? Can someone tell me how to use deathlord?

    • Cagonchimaru
      December 15, 2015 at 9:05 am

I use deathlord when i have someting in my hand to kill whatever big daddy the other could get with him or to stop facecancer or other face decks with only small and quick minions.

If you have a SWD or entomb play deathlord without fear, if the other get a big minion you could kill/steal it.

Buff it against aggro to force a silence which removes the downside and let’s you keep a reasonable body on board to clear with.

Against midrange and control attempt the same thing, but if you can’t buff it or keep it healed try not to drop it until you have some hard removal or lightbomb in your hand so that you don’t lose to a worst case scenario sort of thing.
