Gloop Sprayer Card Review

This is one of those cards that seem theoretically very powerful, but end up being pretty clunky. Like, remember how hard was it to get a good Menagerie Warden? And it costed 2 mana less, and you needed to have only a single minion on the board. Yes, it was restricted to Beasts, but I think that overall this will be even harder to make work.

In most of the scenarios, this card is just bad or mediocre. If you have no board – it’s terrible, 8 mana 4/4. If you have small minions, it’s also bad – you wouldn’t play let’s say an 8 mana 4/4 that summons two small minions. One big minion is also meh – it’s like playing a Faceless Manipulator, then getting a 3 mana 4/4 body. Not the worst thing ever, but much more clunky than Faceless. So realistically, the only situation in which this card is amazing is copying two Midrange or even better – two big minions. 8 mana for let’s say a 4/4, The Lich King and Primordial Drake is nuts. Even something like 2x Ironwood Golem, for example, is pretty good.

The easiest way to make cards like that work is having a discounted minion. Like, if Arcane Giant was in Standard, this could be used much more easily. Right now we have a Mulchmuncher, which can get down to 0 mana, but that’s basically that would be be basically the only good combo in Treant/Token Druid.

I could see it being a part of some combo in the Wild, with Aviana and Kun the Forgotten King. Like those two + Malygos + Faceless Manipulator + this guy and you have 4x Malygos on the board (yes, that means 21 damage Moonfire). But since I’m rating cards in Standard, well… Maybe one of in some kind of Big Druid? I’m not sure, it definitely has potential to be broken, I just don’t see it yet. Seems like it can work sometimes, but is too clunky in general.

Card rating: 4/10

This card is only viable if discounted with Florist or after swing the Twig, and ONLY with big minions on board!

This minion is absolutely insane in arena!

I just noticed this is finally a nerf to spiteful summoner 8-cost pool, which lately has seen no play due to mana nerf, but still something to point.

Too bad druid has pure trash for minions mana 1-7. This card is kind of funny.

This is the epitome of a win-more card. In Big Druid, if you have an Oakheart board large enough to take advantage of this (and that stuck around for a turn), your opponent is going to lose anyway. Same thing with Taunt Druid, if you’re ever in a spot where this card is a good play, you were going to win without it. But if you’re behind, Gloop Sprayer is unplayable. Why would I want that?

The only decks where this could maybe work would be in some sort of Treant Druid with discounted Mulch Munchers, or in a Quest deck where you could reduce it’s cost to 0. In the former, I’m still not sold that I’d want to use a deck slot for it, and in the latter running Ixlid and/or Faceless is probably just better.

I can *possibly* see a fit for this in a kind of Big Quest Druid (I’ve been mucking about with one featuring Tyrantus and Bonemare)… but it’ll be definitely iffy.

Amazing if you can complete the quest early enough since you’ve then got the ability to draw a tonne of massive creatures that cost nothing (hold a Nourish for draw if you can) – but it’ll be absolutely terrible in those games where you draw all your big stuff before the quest activators.

I suspect that in virtually every instance Ixlid or Manipulator would be better.

Best deck for this is for sure one with a big board, like Taunt Druids or Big Druids. It’s a great follow-up to a Master Oakheart the previous turn. However I don’t believe you will ever want to run two copies of it. It’s a dead card until you can actually copy something, and it’s also quite expensive at 8 mana. So I believe it could make the cut in Big and Taunt Druid, but only as a one of. Now again, those decks have been doing fine without this card, and it will have to be seen if this really makes them more powerful. Rating: 3/5 stars.

Ok Mangerie warden was Very powerfull card. It was the card that gave the beast archetype to the druid. We never saw beast druid again after it rotated out. And 6 mana was ok for the druid at that time. While now the druid innervate ramps you by 2.
It is a bit more expensive cube, But with battlecry. Obviously in quest druid that is even more powerfull than cube. you can copy free malygoses fungal lords. Flubidenous floop is also a cheep card you can squeeze with the quest there.
And even without the quest it can be used with double innervate ot with double bio projects to combo with floop. You won’t get full value though and faceless floop will work better though :D.
But this is 8 mana extra cube. I think that Twig will stop being usable this expansion with the cheep clonings the druid have. And you get the free giants anyway. the 8/8 mech rush giant yeah you kinda can have 4 of them in one turn/ summoning 4 rush giants in one turn with a 4/4 boddy as a bonus. I think we saw boards full of giants on turn 5. I think turn 8 is not that bad. Ofcourse turn 7 is the naga giants now but i think wild has much better tools to clear giants than standart.

I’m excited to try to make Ixlid decks work. Been trying since the card was printed and this set seems to have some good support for him.

So it’s a worst version of faceless and it’s random I give it one ⭐️

So apparently the theme for druid this expansion is ” hey, remember that movie Flubber?”

I can’t rate this card, but as a player I hope it’s bad. Given the versatility and ramp in druid I’m a bit scared.
What you should not do, is giving one, if not the best class in the game powerful win-more cards. I could see this being played as a one of in some decks (Big Druid) , but I hope it’s not good (enough).

This card IS NOT that good. Faceless manipulator is better and costs less for all of the combos. This card just costs too much and to get full value to make it better than faceless you need 2 strong minions. With all the clears and single target removal these days good luck getting better value than faceless

Have you seen the sorts of boards Big Druid can create?
You’re right that this card needs set-up, but all the set up you’d usually need is playing Oakheart on 9 and then this on 10 to get another Hadronox and whatever dragon you summoned.

Guys really it’s not that hard. So many comments about how op is combo druid. Just use an ooze to destroy twig in your turn (so the mana refresh gets wasted) and nothing op happens, and thus this card is trash.

    July 25, 2018 at 12:56 pm

This is basically a double faceless summoner. I see Big Druids playing this since having two Lich Kings, Yseras, or even Dragon Hatchers is good and the four attack makes it so it can’t be summoned by Master Oakheart. The space does seem rather tight in the archetype, but replacing the Tyrantus doesn’t seem like an awful idea.

You have to have two minions on the board to get value from this at 4/4 stats for 8 mana. Could happen, but it just seems like too much win more to me. Really bad in top deck mode with one or no minions on board. I know Druid never seems to get to top deck mode these days. But it des happen sometimes.

Too win more for combo Druid, too slow and clunky for token Druid. Could see some play in taunt Druid. Or perhaps a new treant based build of token Druid. It just looks to slow and situational to see constructed play.

Hmmmm no if you have just one minion that costs 5 or more this is already great value. It’s very strong and will absolutely see play.

I though priest was supposed top be cloning science and druids were supposed to be botany. Great “win more” card i can see a few reasons why its not a priest card but I don’t think it fits the flavor they were going for in this set.

Anything that can copy hadronox or cube is broken AF.

Card isn’t insane by itself. But this is in the same boat as dark pact and possessed lacky. Stupid synergy with druid’s available shit.

5/5. RIP other control decks except shudderwock I guess.

I think the body should be 3/3 or even 2/2, and legendary.

    • Jonnymeerkat
      July 25, 2018 at 12:31 pm

Note that it’s a copy, so any lowered health will be brought to the summoned minions.

So…Hadronox will be even easier to kill and fill your board with taunts?

      • Moltar
        July 25, 2018 at 12:53 pm

I’m talking about the body of Gloop Sprayer.

If you get to copy at least one good minion, that extra 4/4 feels overkill.

  24. Jed
    July 25, 2018 at 12:24 pm

    That’s a lot of minions.
    How about a little more?

    Turn 9: Malygos pass.
Turn 10: Flobidinous Floop -> Faceless -> Trigger Twig -> This card -> 2X Moonfire

    42 damage in one turn

    • Irishkid200
      July 25, 2018 at 12:17 pm

Note: I’m not saying its overpowered, Druid already has a good enough Malygos combo. This is honestly just a win-more card that’s too clunky when drawn and only works very situationally.

        July 25, 2018 at 12:26 pm

Mill rouge and Malygos druid is going to be more crazy then ever before in wild… Hope some other decks will have a chance to get a good boost to so it won’t only be three strong and a bunch of counters.

  27. DavistheSavage
    July 25, 2018 at 12:12 pm

Adjacent only means left and right, correct? Not across. Can be good in a midrange druid, who fights for the board, and has a couple minions on it going into turn 8. Taunt druid has some minions in it…

            July 25, 2018 at 1:11 pm

I wouldn’t say it’s that bad. Or that good, it makes great synergy with current taunt druid and great synergy with the new treat cards. Is not rare to still have 2 good minions up to copy the turn after a hadronox trigger and I can see a niche combo with the new mulch mech for 4 8/8 with rush. I could even see quest druid charged devilsaur making a comeback with this card. It has great combo potential But its still a win more card that is useful but unnecessary and can easily be replace by sustain cards.

Imagine u are playing oakheart at turn 9 (or as Druid at turn 4) and u get 2 big minions from dragon Hatcher like Ysera and deathwing and next turn u play gloop sprayer and game is over

        • Jirwin
          July 25, 2018 at 1:16 pm

I dont think its that insane, you dont really need to bring hadronox back any more times in taunt druid (as is evident by people cutting witching hour), people dont even play manipulator in that and it probably fits better
