    Its just a bad card.

You gotta be ahead of the board to play it on curve, to say the least.

When you play it, its 1/7, you have to build it up, it takes time.

After one or two turns, if you have the right cards and the opportunity, you increase its attack to 5 or maybe 7, then your opponent destroy it with a silence or removal, like hex…

Its a card that’s bad on its own, and easily countered when you buff it…

It’ll be fun to play this on curve into Spikeridge Steed. Other than hard removal like Hex, which Shamans don’t currently use, Devolve, which does see play, Polymorph, and the softer removal like the Shadow Words, there really isn’t a whole lot that can remove this in standard on curve.
The card is probably just generally good as a functional 5 mana 3/7 with Divine Shield and will likely be a noteworthy sleeper card on this set much like other Paladin legendary minions like Sunkeeper Tarim and Wickerflame to a lesser extent.

No good, it s will have the same issue as last bolvar. You need to get him early in your hand to be valuable as a tempo card. If you draw him, you need to build him up so it s a dead draw, and pala needs a powerplay every turn mostly to keep up, otherwise he can t get back in the game easily (equality is the only game changer)

They want to push the divine shield pala aggro and this will be a finisher probably. It depends on the succes of that deck.

This cards success depends if the divine shield deck works. Then maybe people would put him in.

Time to bring Justice to the north and Purify then by the LIGHT! Time for Divine Retribution onto those that fall the the false power that is the Lich King.

    Nice Art but poor card

Dunno, it’s basically a 5 Mana 3/8 (divine shield = min. 1hp + 2atk) with the potential to grow. Hard to remove. Steed it on 6 to build a monster or play a bunch of aggro divine shield guys. Is that good enough? Maybe.

The quality of this card is going to vastly depend on the rest of the set. It looks like Paladin is still pushing the Divine Shield game, and if it gets enough support this card COULD work. If you manage to pop two shields this guy is auto worth it, even if one of those shields is his own (a 5 mana 5/7 is solid). Anything beyond that is gravy.

But I’m unwilling to make a final call on this guy until we see the whole set. My final thoughts for now is that it’s probably going to be too difficult to get off consistently.

Seems like a set up with Corpstaker and Chillblade Champion could be really strong. Only problem is he doesn’t seem good when played early because he really needs setup to get full effect. Theoretically you could flood you board with divine shield minions and then drop a Bloodknight and giving him a ton of damage and buffing the Bloodknight a lot too. However, this card just seems to be a win more kind of card, and those cards tend to be weak in most situations. Maybe he could make a quest Paladin with cards like Hand of Protection good. Seems too uncertain right now though.

This card will be amazing, just wait and see, if 1 minion loses divine shield its not even that bad, but usually when you will play it at least 2 or 3 minions will lose divine shield that makes this card 5 mana 5/7 on 7/7 with divine shield and yeah when it loses divine shield it gets +2 attack.

he’s got stealth and a whole lot more
        Galvadon, the last kaleidosaur,
He’s not that bad if u don’t die turn 4’

This card is really good if it get +2 for each shield while it’s in your hand and even better if it’s get it in your deck

Pretty bad if it only gets it on the field

Terrible if breaking it’s own divine shield doesn’t count

It’s nice that it’s not an auto include in Paladin either, since you have to put more cards with divine shield into your deck to make it good

So it greats a new archtype of Paladin well makes and old one more viable (Divine shield Paladin)

But if it’s effect is, it only get the +2 while it’s on the field AND only other friendly minions divine shield count, I wouldn’t wanna run this in my Divine shield deck for 5 manna

You could just run the 3 mana 3-3 that get +3 for sucking up divine shields and get like a 12-12 for 3 manna

This guys effect is pretty lackluster compared to that, considering the 3-3 also takes away your opponents divine shield too

”Terrible if breaking it’s own divine shield doesn’t count” are you kidding me? just read the text ffs

Yeag, But what if it also counts every divine shield that doesn’t get popped?

Can someone confirm if the effect of this card procs while it is in the deck, in the hand or on the board?

      July 27, 2017 at 12:52 pm

The first bolvar’s card says “while this is in your hand”, i think this effect trigger on board, just like darkshire councilman, both have similar text.

If that’s the case I’m not so positive about this card. And that’s a shame because the art is fantastic!!

          July 27, 2017 at 2:17 pm

yea it’d be a shame if the effect only works while it’s on the field

It’s be soo terrible if that’s the case

It says “After a FRIENDLY minion…” so, I think, the buff can’t be activated if looses DS himself.
In a DS archetype deck could be see a spot (with or without blood knight as a tech).
Anyway, I’m very happy that Paladin didn’t got another OP or auto-include card.
    Overall 3.5/10 imo.

Bolvar is also a friendly minion so it will gain +2 Attack after its Divine Shield is popped. If it shouldn’t do that, the text would have been “If ANOTHER friendly minion loses Divine Shield, gain +2 Attack.”

Has some nice corpsetaker synergy too

This card is pretty good imo. he will always get at least 1 buff because he has divine shield himself, so its at least a 3/7 for 5 mana that deals one dmg or costs your opponent 2 mana if they use HP to remove the shield and thats ok, but for every divine shield u lose it gets even better. with 2 buffs he already has amazing stats for a 5 drop and it shouldnt be that hard to pop one more divine shield when u play him.

btw, i hope his quote will be as awesome as his art, because he looks super badass 😀

Interesting card with awesome art. I like that it’s not a guaranteed auto-include, as Paladin has enough such Legendaries. It’s similar to Blood Queen Lana’thel, except this scales better and doesn’t require you to do something foolish like Discard your hand. I can definitely see a Divine shield oriented deck built on this.

So, does the effect start accumulating when he is in your deck? Or in your hand? Or on the board?
If this effect allready starts when he is in your deck, you could draw him as a 10-7 for 5 mana with divine shield wich is insane! Probably OP so my guess is, it wont. If it starts on the board, than he probably wont see play….

I would assume it starts activating when it is on the board.

Welp, that’s a shame. Paladin is already running amazing Legendaries so it’s not a shock they didn’t get a great one, but the art is just SO GOOD that I may try and run it anyways.

Great card! After you attack him once it will lose its own shield but also gain +2 attack buff. Plus synergies with Burnbristle and Tyrion!

Can u picture this in an aggressive deck? With a lot of shield minions of course and than u slam this guy into ur opponents face. It’s the only spot I can imagine this having a purpose

you only need to pop like 3 shields to make him good too.

That’s a pretty damn big commitment.

    • Dude
      July 31, 2017 at 3:41 am

No, he’s good by himself as his own divine shield counts. If u get 1 more u have a 5mana 5/7 that required ur opponent to pop his shield.
