Are we just going to ignore the fact that this can cast Renounce Darkness and ruin your entire day?

I’m waiting for an in-depth statistic (preferably in % chance) regarding:

    – this card killing itself
    – this card dealing dmg to yourself
    – this card dealing face dmg
    – this card buffing an enemy minion
    – this card buffing your minions
    – this card providing more tempo on board (like other minions)
    – this card producing card draw effect
    – this card healing something

And especially the “%chance for a beneficial effect for yourself” and “%chance for a beneficial effect for your enemy”.

Maybe then we can see why it has 5/4 stats for 5 mana.

Risk is a tiny bit lower than 50%. To make this relatively risk-free you need:

      – to have no other minion on board
      – enemy must have a bunch of minions
      – enemy must not have a weapon

Also, being able to combo it with an “Ironbeak Owl” or “Polymorph” will severely decrease the risk of playing this card.

I’m a little confused by your rankings. If he works basically the same way as Yogg, then the spell should follow the normal rules of the game. Such as: assassinate won’t kill your stuff, you get the card draws, etc.

Ohh.. if Assassinate doesn’t kill this minion, then all my ratings are wrong xD

Trump did it in his video reveal.

Essentially, about 65-70% of the time you’ll get a good result, with better odds when your opponent has minions on the board.

As long as the spells cast obey the targeting rules written on the cards I think, overall, the odds on something good happening are better than something bad; a lot of the cards specify that the effect applies only to an enemy or enemies for instance (Consecration, Mass Dispel, etc…).

And <4 mana covers all the secrets and a couple of decent card draws (Arcane Intellect, Ancestral Knowledge) but *who* actually counts as the caster, the player or the Servant of Yogg-Saron? If it's the servant that could mean overload-free Shaman spells?

Of course, with my luck, it would end up just casting Naturalize on itself or Mark of Nature (with +4 health/taunt effect) on the opponent's Lightspawn … 😐

If you watch trumps explanation on the card, it shows that is actually very powerful.
That is, unless rng actually takes a dump on your forehead.

Does its battlecry counts towards Yogg Saron’s battlecry?

If the 5 for spell cost is in parenthesis, does that mean the cost is affected by spell damage?

    This card is crap.

A 5 mana 5/4 already has low stats on average, and the battlecry doesn’t justify it enough. The spell effect is mostly symmetrically beneficial and detrimental, but only over the course of multiple matches. Perhaps it can be considered a high risk high reward card. I compared it to the “Madder Bomber” which has the same stats and a similar battlecry mentality; but the thing about “Madder Bomber” is it fires 6 bombs each dealing 1 damage, meaning you will look at the board and know that if the opponent has more minions out, you will, on average, gain value out of its battlecry. The Servant instead not only targets a random minion, but also uses a random spell, therefore you never really know if it’s better if you have more minions on the board or the opponent, as it could fire off a blessing of kings on an enemy minion, when you were hoping for a fireball instead.

      Cost 5 not 4.

But still pretty bad, there’s only a few good spells that can target only enemies or allies, and most of them will kill your own minions or buff / target the wrong target.

Seems to occupy kind of the same space as Spellslinger, in that it has on-curve stats and an unpredictable effect that could either help you or hurt you. If this functions as Yoggy does, then it doesn’t synergize with Flamewaker, Mana Wyrm, etc. because “you” are not casting the spell. So this would not seem to fit into any particular combo or “package,” it would just be an aggressive 4-drop with an element of chaos.

I know that based on an analysis of the spell pool that Yogg draws from (mentioned by Trump in his analysis of Yogg), roughly 65% of spells will be more likely to help you than hurt you, 30% are just the opposite, and 5% will probably do nothing. If that’s true for 5-or-lower-cost spells as well, then the randomness may not be as bad as you might think.

Overall I would say 3/5, not great but not horrible.

On curve stats would be 5/6 or 5/5. This is 4 drop stats with a battlecry that will very often make you question why the fuck you put this in your deck.

Whoops, my bad. He costs 5 and not 4.

Still, I don’t think it’s a terrible card. In the reveal video, Trump presented an analysis of the various spell possibilities, and it seems like about 1/3 of the time it will be bad for you, 1/3 of the time it will be somewhat beneficial to you, and 1/3 of the time it will be VERY beneficial to you–Arcane Intellect, Shield Block, Feral Spirit, etc.

You can definitely accuse it of being unpredictable, and I don’t know if I’d want to take the risk of playing a 5-drop that has an 8 percent chance or whatever to kill itself. But on paper at least, the average value is pretty good.

I’m curious as to how this random spell casting mechanic works. Does the spell always find a target or can it fizzle? Are the targets completely random? For example, if sacrificial pact is cast, does it always kill a minion even if it’s not a demon? What about Shadow Word: Pain and Shadow Word: Death?

    • SpeakinRiddles

It will fizzle and thats the Part where this card is totaly use less…. way to risky to play it!

Yeah all of the spells cast still follow rules so you can’t execute a minion will full hp or Shadow Madness an enemy Sylvanas.

Wrong effect guys , its effect is “cast a fireball on yourself”

    • LordLukste
      April 13, 2016 at 3:20 pm

Yeah, that’s the ONLY thing that can happen. There’s almost no spells in the game that cost 5 or less…

But…But… Why? Yogg-Saron is awesome because you put 29 spells in your deck and watch the chaos. This isnt crazy or good enough
