BlizzCon 2019 Schedule – What’s In Store For Hearthstone?

BlizzCon 2019 is just around the corner – the event starts next Friday (November 1). But what can Hearthstone players expect from it?

You can find the full schedule here!

When it comes to confirmed things – there’s only a single Hearthstone panel called “Hearthstone Update” (Day 1, 4:15 PM PT / 7:15 PM ET / 01:15 AM CET). It has kind of a generic description – “Come learn more about Hearthstone from the developers of the game.” My guess is that they can’t really tell more about it without spoiling anything, so they had to just throw some general info.

Another confirmed thing is, of course, Hearthstone Global Finals. The biggest tournament is back to BlizzCon this year, but with a slightly different formula. We’ll see six Grandmasters (S1 and S3 Playoff winners from each region) and two players from China’s Gold Open Series will fight for their share of $500,000, a trophy and “Hearthstone Champion” title. What’s worth noting is that tom60229 – 2017 Hearthstone World Champion – is one of the qualified players. He might be the first player becoming two times Hearthstone champion!

Then, after the opening ceremony, we have four “Coming Soon” panels. While one of them might be HS-related, for example a new expansion’s announcement, I don’t think that they would hide it so much (although it’s possible). My guess is that the expansion will be announced either during the opening ceremony itself or “Hearthstone Update” panel. That panel might also talk about what they have in store for HS, like some plans for the future (given that the competition is growing stronger, having some nice information wouldn’t hurt). We also have two “coming soons” on Saturday, however I think that they won’t be new announcements, but rather panels talking about the titles announced on Day 1 (I don’t think that they would wait with some really important announcements until Day 2). Of course, they might surprise us and we’ll see SIX big announcements in total, which would be amazing!

As for the “Coming Soon”, we can only speculate. The truth is that Diablo 4 is nearly confirmed at this point (after some recent leaks), so I would be astonished if it wasn’t one of the main announcements. There are also some rumors about Overwatch 2 (which would be a PvE version of Overwatch), but nothing certain so far. Given that this BlizzCon should be the biggest one ever (Blizzard really needs to step it up after last year), they might even go as far and announce a completely new IP, or at least a new game in an already existing one. Luckily we won’t have to wait long, because the event starts in just 10 days!
