Week 2 is upon us, and we’re now in a space of the meta that rewards diverse play! While I still feel Miracle Rogue is the strongest deck currently being played, there are very viable alternatives for anyone looking to climb the ladder. Let’s take a look at the decks!
Druid
There are three strong variants of Druid currently. You’ve got strong control with both Watcher Druid and Ramp Druid, but you also have a more Aggro version of Druid with Token Druid. This isn’t your standard Token Druid by the way, this version runs Leeroy Jenkins, two Power of the Wild, and a Blood Knight!
Hunter
You won’t see a lot of Hunter floating around anymore since the recent Unleash the Hounds Nerf, but if you do see them it’s usually a version of Face Hunter.
Mage
You’ll see the random Mage floating around. DuckWingFACE plays a version of Aggro Mage that’s fairly strong, and there’s still Frost Mage’s trying their luck, but they aren’t seeing much play currently.
Paladin
One of the weakest classes in the meta still, but there’s been a bit of hype around an Aggro variant that uses LOREWALKER CHO! The guy who created it talked about it on Reddit, I don’t know for sure if it’s viable, but it’s worth a look!
Priest
Paladin and Priest are dueling it out currently for worst class in the game right now. I would give that honor to Paladin, but maybe I’m just influenced by all the great Priest play I see from Amaz. Kolento has also been tooling with a pretty strong version of Midrange Priest.
Rogue
Miracle Rogue has yet to be dethroned, but it has for sure seen less play lately. Players might be feeling the hate and looking for new options, or maybe people are just tired of the deck. You will start to see Coldlight Oracle in your matches against Miracle. Not only does it draw them more cards, but it punishes HandLock and any other deck that holds a ton of cards. Tempo Rogue is still a viable option if you are sick of Miracle and want to stick with the class.
Shaman
Shaman is a solid option right now, but there’s not much variability with the class. You very often see the same version with maybe one or two card difference. Celerity did bring out an interesting version of the deck on ESL’s King of the Hill, but I’ve yet to see anyone play it outside of him.
Warlock
Warlock is vying for strongest class right now, and it’s riding on the back of a million different Zoo variants and the ever strong HandLock.
- Classic Zoo (Tastes Delicious!)
- Divine Zoo
- Aggro Zoo
- HandLock
Warrior
Control Warrior is still a force in the meta, but a newcomer has appeared! Aggro Warrior is seeing some play in the high ranks! We’ll see how long it sticks around or if it’s just a flash in the pan.
