Witchwood Apple Card Review

At first I thought that the 2/2 Treants are going to cost 1 mana and I thought “hm, this card is actually pretty solid, it’s like a much better Force of Nature”. And then I’ve realized that they cost 2 mana instead, so my rating of the card immediately dropped from “good” to “terrible”.

So, you spend 2 mana and don’t do anything immediately. You “draw” 3 cards – but not 3 good cards. You draw 3x vanilla 2 mana 2/2. And that’s it.

So if we sum it up, this card is 8 mana for 3x 2/2 minion. And that’s, obviously, not good. For the board flood strategy, playing Living Mana is just sooo much better, even if you consider that you lose the mana for (usually) one turn.

It seems that the only reason to play it is the synergy with the next card, but even if you play a deck with Wispering Woods, I don’t believe that you would want to play this card too…

Card rating: 1/10

Idk why people think playing 3 2-2’s on turn 3 is weak, in aggro druid this could be super cancer with a bunch of cards druid uses.

+ This could be a card that makes some kind of mountain giant druid tempo deck

I think people are way underrating the potential of this card

    2-2 trents cost 1 manna

The Treants cost 2 mana, not 1.

If you play druid you will realise that treants tokens are 1 mana

Your right. Normally they cost two, but this card gives a different token. They cost two (they said that in the card reveal stream).

Nah I don’t play that class (not a fan of that crap), I just know how the cards work.

Give it echo and then we can talk.
But perhaps with twilight drake and mountain giant, a new kind of dragon giant druid can happen.

    Going second.

    Turn 1 six cards
Turn 2 seven cards +2 cards (from apple) = 9 cards
Turn 3 mountain giant (10 cards)
Turn 4 new full board/ twilight
Turn 5 savage roar/branching path (dead) or refill board

The last two steps are optimistic but unless I’m missing something this card allows turn 3 Giants for druid which is very strong. By contrast I’m pretty sure handlock was always turn 4 giants (3 mana).

Sure this won’t see play, but! It’s minions that won’t be in the way for “recruit”.

I think you guys are forgetting the Treants are 1 mana cost. So if you play this on turn two (if you have it in hand), then next turn you can play 3 mana 6/6 worth of stats on the board. Not too shabby but leaves you empty on turn 2.

If the 2/2s were 1 cost minions, this could’ve been okay. As they are not, this is unlikely to see play.

I am hesitant to call the “Hand Druid” idea crap since control oriented Druid decks have been successful and most of the tools are still going to be in standard.
Perhaps if there is a better reward card for holding onto your cards rather than playing them than what was shown in the stream, that card will be a decent follow-up to Ultimate Infesation

could see play in a rank 20 deck , if the treants had taunt maybe , 40 dust otherwise

I am not a fan of trashtalking this early into the reveal season but bruh, this looks like shiet. Combined with the two epics we’ve seen for druid already we need two amazing legendaries that somehow synergize with these complete garbage cards otherwise druid is not gonna have a good time

So now they’re trying to make some kind of hand-token-druid…
It would be pretty funny if this shit actually works considering everybody is shitting on it so much.

So… this is essentially an 8 mana Force of Nature that you can theoretically get out 1 turn earlier if you’re prepared to blow turns 2, 3 and 4 on it?

I suppose you could chuck it in a Genn deck with Whispering Woods and Power of the Wild – but I dunno, it seems to be a card looking for a deck at the moment; it’ll depend on what support there is for a slower token Druid (with most of the mass-buffs rotating out) I guess.

Most likely two, in which case this is about the same as Ice Fishing.

It’s more like Razorpetal Volley. Ice Fishing is archetype restricted now that coldlight oracle is rotating.

at least the razorpedals costed one mana. for this you get 3 enchanted ravens that don’t have beast tag and cost double the mana

is the treant one or two mana?

Probably 1 mana, like the 2.2 raven

That’s a pity, I wanted to try this card in my (wild) token druid (sorry for the ones who hate token druid). But that isn’t going to happen if the treants cost 2 mana, such a shame.
