This card depends of whether or not the reborn cards in the expansion are good enough. Right now, more than halfway through reveals, it ain’t looking good. 1/5

Well, I’m eating my hat now. For those of you who don’t know, I made a prediction that the Paladin Quest would involve summoning 1-health minions, and I said I’d eat my hat if I was wrong.

Jokes aside, I don’t like this card. It relies on an expansion specific keyword, we’re not getting anymore reborn minions after this, so this deck will be immediately be lost in the next expansion. 2/5.

I see this as a very useful Quest, and you can really go crazy with this card for the number of decks that you can make Such as Mech Deck (To find Mechanical Drakes and SN1P-SN4P), or Dragon Deck (To find Bronze Heralds and Gargoyles), And Worst Case scenario, The only reason why you want to play this card is for another Zilliax to be on your side, so I do believe that Paladin will go as far as to play 5 Reborn Minions, just for 2 Zilliaxes.

Now, another thing to look forward to is Villian Paladin or Villadin were you play Recurring Villian, you buff the attack to 4 or more, and as long as you can sustain its Deathrattle, it’s pretty much like having infinite Reborns for Villian, but better because you also get full health, too. Villian Paladin has surprisingly worked in the past, thanks to Kripparrian, and you can really Continue the Deathrattle Train with the villains from reassuring a lot, since you have cards like Sword of Justice, Sound the Bells, Defender of Argus and Blessing of Kings to name a few. You can even Play Villian and Dark Iron Dwarf, have your Villian die, and I would believe that the Deathrattle would still count.

And the more you look at this Quest Card as a whole, the more and more exciting theorycrafts you can make because of its reward, so look forward to potentially making Dragon Paladin Great again, but probably making Mech Paladin even more terrifying, and Villian Paladin being a now legit deck to use.

Interesting idea, the thing is, what happens with the Sir Finley card? Based on how much reborn synergy we could get, I’m thinking that we would finish this quest around turn 8 at earliest imo, but if your wrapping your deck around deathrattle and reborn synergies like the quest suggests, wouldn’t you be trying to get the quest as soon as possible? I feel like you’ll have to choose one over the other, as 1) the non-duplicate idea might mean there aren’t enough reborn cards that you would like in a quest deck like this, and 2) The Sir Finley hero power gets replaced, so is it really worth it?

Do you guys think that the two will go in separate decks or in the same one? Thx

Based on how it looks not many of the legendaries will work well with the quests. Druid can get away with it If you build a spell druid deck since Elise + Floop could allow you to infinitely copy your hand combo with that 6 Mana and it gives 10 Mana 6/6 taunt and a 3/4 every other turn with a heal for 12.

For the mage it would be very inefficient considering requirements of the quest so I doubt the two would be used together except maybe in wild with Reno mage.

One of my least favorite designs so far. My favorite thing about quests in the past was trying them out after each new expansion after they received powerful synergies, but since the reborn mechanic is likely just an uldum thing it kind of feels like this cards power level is the direct result of the cards they are willing to print this expansion

My instinct is to side with you here. However, this *could* be an indication that we’ll see reborn after SoU, just like we saw rush and echo after Witchwood.

That said, I’m now curious about what the printing of both Witch’s Brew and Sn1p-Sn4p says about the future of echo.

This Quest + Val’anyr in wild is potentially broken. They changed saronite chain gang in part because of the val’anyr shenanigans, but this leads to virtually infinite handbuffing as soon as you complete the quest if val’anyr is in hand

A strict upgrade to the original hero power, as long as you have another minion out. At best it can copy a deathrattle/reborn/ongoing effect card, and at worst it makes a 2/2 instead of a 1/1.
Only bummer is the potential anti-synergy with Sir Finley. Would you play both in one deck? It would depend on the meta and matchups which hero power upgrade you choose

This is actually a little terrifying combos with any use of death rattle and even works with reborn to make a 1 health version with FULL attack value on death. Only counter is to *silence* the minion so even copy would be silenced.

That said playing murloc plague against this may not be a smart idea imagine pally making a bunch of 2/2 copies of warleader.

This card is very interesting. Quite an original concept for Paladin too, who has, as far as I can tell, never had any copy effect cards in the past and present. The Quest doesn’t look very hard to complete. So far, I cannot tell how useful exactly that copy effect is going to be for Paladin, but summoning a 2/2 copy of a minion for 2 mana has a LOT of potential. For a rather easy-to-complete quest, this power is a nice gift, even if you can’t always use it with proper synergy. I just hope there will be enough support for it.

Overall, I very much like it. Pretty original and interesting. And the theme is cool ; Sir Finley raising mummies ? Sign me up. The support the Reborn keyword gets will likely influence whether this card will be part of the meta or not. For its potential, I give it at least 3/5. We can hope for a 4/5.

can you choose a target? or its random?
    this is very important

    • WingedCastaway
      July 19, 2019 at 6:47 am

      It’s targeted.

    • Thraben
      July 19, 2019 at 6:47 am

The way Hearthstone words its effects suggest that you can target what you want, DK Thrall was also worded “Transform a friendly minion into a random one that costs 1 more” which also didn’t suggest you can target it but you can.

Most card games always use the word “target” but Hearthstone a little less if at all.

Mechasaur Egg magnetized with zilliax and sn1p-sn4p -> create 2/2 copy. If someone leaves it on beard they will have hard time.

Imagine this in trucked out undertakah meme decks if there is enough support you have infinite board wipe, life steal and stall. Priest plague and shammy plague will be the only hard counters I would worry about if I ran abomb rather than the 7 cost kobold.

My problem with this card is that you’ll play 5 reborn cards to obtain this and you probably want to use it on reborn cards (as well as deathrattle and other value cards). So the question is how many reborn cards there are in general.. you most likely need to spend good chunk of them just to get the reward.

So it’s probably a deck with mix of reborn and deathrattle cards.. Why is this a paladin card? It does synergize pretty well but thematically it’s a priest thing, priest also seems to be getting lots of reborn cards so ??? Oh well, not too bad regardless. 4/5

The reward is indeed very good, but the main problem is the number of reborn cards that are out there and their quality. In particular, if reborn is something just from this expansion, I fear that the reborn cards will make it very weak. And I agree, it makes much more sense in priest.

Flavor is good and the upgraded Hero Power synergizes with the Quest (unlike Warlock’s quest, for example). However, “Reborn” is a keyword that is tied with this expansion. This means the way the Quest is presented in this expansion is the Quest we will always have, barring side synergies. I think that is quite sad. As an example, Mage’s original Quest was quite a fringe deck for a long, long time, until they printed cheap Twinspells in Rise of Shadows. And now Quest Mage is a force to be reckoned in Wild. This won’t happen with this Quest. 🙁

      July 19, 2019 at 9:13 am

Yeah. If it can do something in standard it will be more than enough, which depends on the cards with reborn.

Hero power is very strong in combination with Crystalsmith Kangor (4x healing boost), Mechano Egg and Mechanical Whelpling. Since you need to play 5 reborn minions to complete the quest, you’re gonna have a bunch of those in your deck and they could make great targets for this hero power too.

Whether a deck built around this quest is good or not will largely depend on the quality of reborn minions on offer, but the potential value offered by this hero power is a Control Warrior’s worst nightmare. 5/5

I’m liking it, if you use the hero power on a reborn minion it should come back as originally statted only with 1 hp. Might work well with deathrattles too.

I mean I like the reward, but it really depends on how good reborn minions are.

    Should be Priest’s???

    • MrAranak

Lazul is technically a shadow priest more than a holy/disc priest so its hard to tell how it fits her theme. The explorers league is utilizing relics, critters and everything they can find to protect Uldum, enlisting mummies and Tol’Vir relics makes more sense than what the villains have planned.
