Very interesting card for a Warlock.

On it’s own, it sucks. 8 Mana 5/7 makes me feel ill, but hold on. With Plot Twist, you can replace your hand with a bunch of new cards, preferably containing minions. Suddenly, you have the potential to have a big board able to clear whatever threats are on your opponent’s side.

If you happen to have any Deathrattles on these copies, even better, because those will trigger. I don’t think there’s any at the current time that would be worth using, but the option is there for the future.

May not be fantastic right now, but could be a powerful control tool when the right tools arrive.

This has suddenly become a lot stronger with the reveal of Plot Twist, making it a really strong 10 mana play.

The best thing will be watching all those English streamers playing him for the memey YT videos and pronouncing him wrong. (Betrug is German for Betrayal.) 4/5 stars for that, 2/5 for actual strength of the card.

    Combo with Dr. Morrigan?

What the hell is this…? This text belongs on a Warrior card, not a Warlock card. Also, this card is horrible the turn it’s played. Inconsistent, expensive, and a patchwork flavor all add up to a nice 1/5

I was hoping for something that might keep warlock a viable option come rotation. Pretty disappointing statwise, but cute effect makes this a 2 star card.

Big mana cost no immediate effect and hard to combo. These usual end well.

I’ll give this one 2 stars. If the demons weren’t rotating out and Doomguard wasn’t Hosted, this card would be more than viable, it’d be great. Since that’s happening, meh, this card is just iffy at best.

Stupid cellphone dictionary BS. Next the comment about Doomguard. It should say HOFed. As in Hall of Famed.

    Feel Lord Betrug’s Boomzooka.

Combos OK with Soularium or T10 with Hero Power. If you can stuff your deck with strong Deathrattles it’s ok, but I’m having a hard time seeing how this would come together into a consistent deck.

To all the optimistic warlock fanboys out there, a good high cost control legendary card is usually one that greatly impacts the state of the board the turn it is played (Bloodreaver Guldan, Zuljin, Nzoth, Shudderwock, Lord Godfrey, etc) . Ofc, Ysera and the Lich King are great legendaries but they arent as reliable for comebacks in case you are behind and enemy has a strong board presence. Betrug demands alot for so little, you need to play an overpriced minion and draw the perfect minion for the perfect situation (imagine drawing Hireek or Godfrey). The risks heavily outweigh the rewards and in case you gain board control and have the luxury of playing Betrug, it still wouldn’t be worth it. I would rather invest the 10 mana in developing my board rather than a 5/7 vanilla that gives the opponent info of my hand (the minion summoned from would die anyway) . That being said, if i correctly recall, Hadronox and Kathrena found homes in solid decks an expansion after their release so if team 5 decides they want Betrug to be a thing, you never know.

You can’t say he’s all bad even if he sucks for standard ATM because he has demon tag he’s a beast in wild.

Fel Lord is an interesting card for Big, Hand or Control Warlock side because it’s going to give you some clear presence as to how you want to play your card as. The only probelem is that they can see what minion you’ve drew; which is a bummer, but escpially if you drew a big Deathrattle Minion such as Carine Bloodhoof for example, along with your real Carine, it’s going to bring out a lot of Value for Warlock. If this card was meant for priest instead, becuase of Mass Ressuraction, it would have been perfect for Priest becuase it could active Wall Priest again (although it wouldn’t have any of have it’s glory days of back then). So it would be interesting to see what Fel Lord can do for Warlock.

Now people can have the excuse that “Oh this card is garbage” because the health is too low for how much it costs: 8 mana 5/7. But you can also imange this as a “10 mana 5/7 “Draw a card” if it’s a minion, give it rush and it gets shadowsteped to your hand at the end of your turn”. So of course it’s not all Warlocks are going to like Fel Lord. Some Warlocks would give this 5 stars, others give it 2 stars becuase it’s too slow or too weak. I’m somewhere in the middle. 3 Stars.

Fel Lord Betrug is a card that if allowed to live can easily take games over, and at ten mana, it is possible to instantly get decent value out of it. It’s heath state isn’t even that bad for an eight drop.

However, it’s effect is inconsistent and rather pointless when used on an uncontested board unless the summoned minion has a useful Deathrattle.

This has obvious potential with Sense Demons if it sticks or if you can keep the coin to pull off a 11 mana turn.
Besides, cards with the ability to let a player cheat out mana value have always found their place in one or another deck – and then done absolutely disgusting things regardless of what we as a community expected them. Give it some time and I’m sure you’ll see it come up strong as a value/big swing turn/OTK material card.

This will see the most play in wild with Skull of Manari + sense demons sets up a possibly deadly Rez pool for guldan.

Chromagus was usefull in lock. You hero power could have guaranteed you a power turn 10 if you had the board. Whitch at that point of the game would win you the game anyway. It is a demon though. You may splash this here and there if you got it but crafting this speciffically is not a good option. It is good that locks are finally getting legendary demons. There were very few of them in your discover pools. However its stats are very understated for an 8 cost minion. And i think demon lock lacked the legendary minions to actually work. Not that this minion makes it viable but there was a time where al lthe demons were OP and cards like bane and doom would guarantee you above 5 mana worth of stats if you killed something. Nowadays you are most likely to get an imp. There are more imps than any usefull demon out there. And we are yet to uncover a satyr demon for warlocks . Witchwood piper does not fit the demon archetype of trading resourses to get more power. And one of the resourses demons never asked for was minions. Void hungered may have required you to give in minions. But i thin ka yu-gi oh kind of a summoning where your demon would require you to sacrifice like X mana worth of minions to be summoned would fit the archetype. So instead of usin your own mana you can use your minions as mana. Or health or attack. I think this type of cards stopped existing for locks from its creation.
I would be happy to get this in a discover but i would not be happy to put this into my lock decks.

So…other than zoo, what exactly is warlock’s identity post-rotation? Hopefully the rest of the set gives some direction since it really didn’t get any viable archetypes last year(which I get given the dominance of cubelock) other than maybe discard?

Single-target removal is cheap and plentiful enough that just playing this and hoping it survives a turn is not realistic. As such, you need to get a payoff out of his ability on the same turn you summon him in order for this card to be playable in constructed.

Right now, there are no great tools to take advantage of his ability on the same turn you play him, so this would need a lot of support to see play. 1/5

        March 28, 2019 at 7:41 am

Comboing this with Soularium is interesting, but I’m not convinced summoning minions from your deck with rush that die at the end of turn, then discarding the originals (since you definitely won’t have any mana left over), is such a great idea.

I could be wrong, maybe there will be a deathrattle-heavy Warlock deck that does just this, but I find it unlikely.

          March 28, 2019 at 7:59 am

I was thinking about it, and what about 1 solarium +fel lord+ 2x soulwarden, (in some control Warlock with a lot of minions

  19. AngryMurlocs
    March 28, 2019 at 3:58 am

I think this card is ok. People have been stating that this is either a draw a minion or do nothing however with the right cards it could have potential. Plus if your putting this in a deck your deck is probably heavily minion based (or all minions) which means it would get value if played turn 10 with tap. I’m not saying this card is outstanding but with the right supporting pieces (aka good ways to draw this as well as some high cost or good deathrattle minions) this card could have potential. I would say 3/5 (has potential but isn’t meta breaking)

So many bad comments the key is to think of what this card means to the 3 game modes Arena, Wild, and Standard even if the standard seems to lack tools the others still have uses. In arena where the cards are somewhat random what you’ll get depending on board presence this has a decent chance of lasting a couple turns depending on draws. For wild the amount of tools available is a bit better with a few more tools available as a demon this can be pulled with Skull of Manari which means it’s useable before turn 8 add in sense demons and you have a possibly dangerous result of turn 6. So YES it is a bit bad atm for standard BUT especially in wild this can be a very big threat for setting up an on curve guldan. I’m a little shocked nobody seemed to think of this with Skull in wild on these comments though.

Best case scenario is juicy, but worst case scenario this is horrible. It would only be decent in Midrange Warlock, and without Genn, Even midrange Warlock doesn’t seem like it will be there. This card is unplayable in Zoo and in Control.

First: How many good single-target removal are there? Besides your enemy dont have boardcontrol to trade that 7 health. Not that many coming in my mind. Omega Devestator, Crowd Roaster, some “damaged minion” removal from warrior, maybe Hysteria. On the other side, are there any possibilitis to lower the costs, or to summon it from hand, or make this immune one turn? I dont think so. 8 Mana is again a lot, and again we see a understatted minion, wich is truly inconsistant… I like the card not sure if this sees play. With Naturalize and some Spellstones gone, this maybe can see Play due to missing removal tools. 2,5/5

    • Taznak
      March 28, 2019 at 3:58 am

Druid doesn’t have great options with Naturalize and Jasper Spellstone rotating out.

Other than that… Shadow Word: Death and Forbidddn Words for Priest, Polymorph and Fireball and Voodoo Doll for Mage, Siphon Soul and Voodoo Doll for Warlock, Walk the Plank and Sap and Assassinate and Unidentified Contract for Rogue…

I could go on. Killing this could be awkward for Paladin and Druid without a board, and Shaman has only one clean answer in Hex, but every other class has 2+ answers.

The main problem I see with this card is inconsistency. You don’t know what your’re going to draw and whilst you can work around that effect with cards like sense demons the cards which you would summon would just die anyway. And that’s the cards next problem, lack of board state. Warlock already has pretty decent control cards like Hellfire and Twisting nether and so this card isn’t really needed and even if the cards rush into a minion they’ll just die at the end of the turn anyway so you don’t keep a board up whilst clearing (Which can be one of the strengths of rush minions like Amani War bear). Now the one way I could see this card being used is in some kind of Deathrattle Warlock. We already have the EVIL genius and there are death rattles like Dr Morrigan and Blood Troll Sapper however that is going to need A LOT of support in Rise of Shadows to make it work and even if it does, will this card be strong and practical enough to fit into that archetype? We’ll have to wait and see. 2/5 (Maybe three depending on support)

This card plus coin and demon call for 3 mane. That could be good but problem is having a coin…

  29. Npcfish
    March 28, 2019 at 1:55 am

OK. At least we can dream about at 10 mana play this and hero power into Deathwing, Dragonlord 😉 And we can kind of play Arch-villain Rafaam first then play this at turn 10 for better odds.
But still unplayable with current tools. 2/5 right now. 3/5 if new expansion introduces two or more really powerful deathrattle minions that fit in warlock decks. 3.5/5 if such new synergies enable an OTK.

Only use I can see is Reno Warlock in wild. Get a thaurisan proc on this or sense demons to do both in the same turn. Voidlord, Doomguard, Malganis, and voidcalled are all great pulls. Also adds to your Guldan.
