I have a wild pirate rogue deck which this card would be really good in. Swashburgler into patches then you play this on turn 2

Ok, so far we have big attack low health pirates for a midrange hooktusk to command, and cheap guys for the classic agro pirates that are so (not) loved, and a tendency for being even.
5/5 for being a pirate anyway.

Watch all your pirates get cleared and this will be the next card you draw. 2/5.

“All my minions got cleared so I’m losing now” -Every Aggro Deck, Ever.

For real, “dies to removal” is a garbage argument and it always will be. Granted this is more like “Is useless because removal exists,” but still. Yes if your board gets cleared this is bad, but if your board gets cleared, a lot of normally good plays are bad, but that doesn’t make the card bad.

1/5, won’t see any play as pirates are boring and for braindead aggro decks.

That’s a myth. Aggro decks require skill.

        Kinda true, kinda not.

Aggro requires skill in an Aggro mirror where both players get a good-but-not-perfect starting hand.

So… no, Aggro doesn’t require skill.

I think it’s better than people think. There’s a lot of pirate synergy now and it doesn’t need to be a t2 play. That with shadowstep can reset its hp and kill 2 minions for two. Even 2 other pirates its a 3/3 rush which in itself is not bad. I don’t think it would be too difficult to keep enough pirates on the board to get great stats off this. And if you can’t and are playing a pirate deck your already screwed anyways.

The problem is this cannot be played in the same deck as Captain Hooktusk, and Hooktusk is almost certainly a better Pirate payoff than this..

I’m not suggesting an even pirate. I would think it would need to be opened up to both even and odd to take advantage of all the pirates.
However, I did take another look at the pirates available to standard and there’s less than I thought, even with the new cards.

However, doubling his stats with spirit of the shark will definitely help.

The biggest issue with Bloodsail Howler right off the back is it cannot be used effectively in the same deck as Captain Hooktusk. The next issue if using it correctly requires you to be fairly ahead with at least three pirates on the board already.

Unless Pirate Rogue with Patches becomes a viable deck in Wild, this won’t be doing much anywhere.

Pirate… Rouge? I have never heard of it…

      hmm…

      Is it edible?

Highly doubt that you can get 2+ squishy Pirates to be on the board to make this worth it. If at least it had charge, you could combo this with the legendary to get a 5/5 charger for 2 mana in your 10 mana turn. But Rush is not enough here…

It almost feels like raiding party was made for kingsbane rogue and not for pirate rogue, seeing how bad these pirate cards are

Amazing in wild with patches and pirates already being a good deck. Not very good in standard where this is going to be a 2/2 90% of the time.

Whelp I just had evil idea for wild all need is patches 2 lab recruiters this and cannon barrage. Idealy Jeep patches in hand play later and tag with 2 lab recruiters draw patches while this and barrage are in hand.

From there it’s obvious summon patches then this that’s +6/6 then play cannon that’s 21 dmg split out.

What about even rogue with sharkfin fan? But then again no support from Southsea captain… Hmmm…

Even rogue is trash. No need to discount the hero power

Till you face Thijs. Get rekt by a tier 20 deck

I could theorycraft an EVEN PIRATE ROGUE, there are a lot of good even/pirate cards this expansion, but I feel it lacks of a real win condition. The 1 mana Hero Power to fill curve or get a weapon buff from other minion’s battlecry could help but is it powerful enough?

Maybe if it had charge instead, kinda hate that almost 0 cards have charge nowadays. This would be so much better with charge, and i dont think it would even be op.

Charge cards have been hard to balance. Rush is how they are checking it. Between Leeroy and Stupid Cube Warlock, charge has been abused.

        November 27, 2018 at 11:57 am

Yeah i know, i think leeroy should go to hall of fame, but imo this card is weak and charge would make it perfect.

    November 27, 2018 at 8:17 am

    The card is okayish

but it only really gets value when it is 2 mana 3/3.

Kinda hard to believe this being worth running in your deck

    2/5.

So… you think the devs realize that cards like these are not what Hooktusk needs to see play?

    • Jansuko
      November 27, 2018 at 8:13 am

I thought of how good it was till you stated this, now i see it as kind of a “why print this” card. unless there’s a way to specifically draw this guy(besides withwood 4 3/3) it’s gonna be hard to use

      • Tuscarora87
        November 27, 2018 at 9:40 am

Because they have no clue what they are doing. Any good card from this exp is a pure coincidence.

      November 27, 2018 at 8:17 am

Not only that but its not a good play on curve even if you play a pirate turn 1.
