Comparing Decks of the Notable Players from the HCT EU Summer Playoffs 2017

The HCT EU Summer Playoffs took place over the weekend, and with it we posted all of the decks from the tournament. I’ve gone ahead and updated our Hearthstone Deck Comparison tool, and with it I figured we’d compare some of the popular deck types from some of the notable players of the tournament!

HCT EU Summer Playoff Deck Comparisons

The Deck Comparison tool’s deck lists have been made more compact to more easily compare the lists together. I added a deck code button, as well as Core Cards which represent cards that are in every list. These cards will usually mean they are core to the deck type and are necessary for running the deck. I’m comparing six player’s decks (when possible) together as it is the sweet spot for displaying the comparisons. You can compare up to 8 decks!

Except for the druid decks, the problem with using any of the above in constructed play is that all of these decks clearly assume that they would be auto-banning opposing druid decks, which is what actually happened.

Exactly… Tournament decks nowadays are more useless on ladder than ever before. Everybody just bans druid so they don’t need to deal with it but you have to deal with them on ladder.

I don’t really agree, there’s not a whole lot of tech in most of these decks. The one thing you can argue is you can’t play something like Quest Warrior on the ladder because of Druid, but that doesn’t make all of the other lists unplayable.

exactly there is no tech because they’re counting on not playing against druid… but on ladder you have to tech against them (with some decks)

Evident, really the point I was trying to make was essentially what was said Advocaat’s reply, i.e. the listed decks clearly did not tech for druids, e.g. Skulking Geist, which is an absolute necessity for ladder. Thus, you can’t just take one of these decks straight to ladder without tweaking it to account for druids.

Embarrassing rebuke of the fail of the Blizzard design team that the esports players have to balance their game for them.
But I suppose that as long as the $$$ keeps on rolling in the Blizz design team is safe.
