Deck Import

This list is now obsolete due to the nerf to Warsong Commander and is being kept as a historical reference. Check out the new version of this deck: Midrange Patron Warrior.

The Grim Patron Warrior deck is currently the top deck in the game. It uses weapons, card draw, and Warrior’s defensive abilities to gather cards and survive into the later turns. The deck can then unleash a series of combos on the back of Warsong Commander, Grim Patron, and Frothing Berserker that can destroy the opponents board and/or health total. Survivability was initially an issue, but thanks to the addition of Armorsmith the deck is now even more reliable. The combos the Warrior unleashes would not be possible without cards like Whirlwind, Death's Bite, and Unstable Ghoul.

Season 18 (TGT) Update

In the aftermath of TGT we’ve seen Patron Warrior get a bit more defensive with the addition of Shield Block. If you go with two Shield Block then you’ll generally want to add a Shield Slam to the deck. Fiery War Axe, Gnomish Inventor, and Unstable Ghoul are the cards of choice to cut when pruning down the list. Cruel Taskmaster is also a card that has seen less play, either being added as a one of or being cut completely.

Grim Patron Warrior Tech Cards

Harrison Jones is good against Hunter and the mirror match up. Shield Block is sometimes used for consistent card draw and survivability. Loot Hoarder can be used for early aggro stoppage and card draw. Slam will sometimes appear in the deck as removal, combo initiator, and/or for the potential card draw. Dread Corsair was in the deck for a while and comes and goes, but it’s a good card to stop aggro and will usually be reduced or free due to Patron’s weapons.

why not put in the deck the commanding shout so patron can survive if the enemy have minions with 3 attack or higher?!

Because you do not want them to be at 1 health. You need patrons to be at 3 or 2 health, so they could spawn more. Also, you need to understand that the board isn’t infinite, you can only deal 18 damage to minions and lose tempo (to a board clear). You have executes, they are simply better at controlling the board.

Grim Patron is by far the hardest to play deck in the history of hearthstone. The second hardest was Miracle Rogue. Don’t expect to have this deck play on its own. If you want an easy-to-play Deck that kicks ass, go with Secret Paladin.
On the other hand, if mastered, Patron Warrior is on the the strongest decks ever in hearthstone. In terms of strength, the only deck that competes was the Buuzard/UTH hunter deck (and we all loved this one, didn’t we?).

This deck freaking blows! Takes forever before you can combo and 90% of the times u cant even combo so you’ll have to do it with 2-3 patrons

Are you new to Patron Warrior? It is widely known as one of the most challenging decks to play, but it pays off if you learn and manage to play it correctly.

Of late, I have run a cleave and a slam with somewhat success. The cleave helped me to kill a pair of troublesome 2-health minions e.g. Shade of Nax (stealth) and another minion, Knife Juggler and a taunt, mirror image.

With the TGT, I noticed some 3-health minions appearing like Darnassus Aspirant. Perhaps the new TGT Bash is to match them?

Not sure how to deal with Dragon Priest ridiculous high health high value minions though.

I’m sorry (and i get how it is based on research and don’t mean to sound rude, this i smore of just a general question.), but how do you mulligan Grim Patron like 50% of the time in a Grim Patron Deck?

Because you run two patrons you generally expect to run into another before you plan to use it (this deck has a lot of card draw). Patron also tends to not get used without a combo, so more than likely turn 7 or later.

Are the armor options in this deck (besides armorsmith) pretty standard as of late? Or are some people dropping them?

Shield Block is very popular, but you can cut Shield Slam for another Unstable Ghoul.

Thanks! and do you recommend keeping unstable ghoul in your hand vs aggro?

No problem! And yes I would keep Unstable Ghoul against aggro.

Where and when can I vote for my top meta decks? I would like to change this list, since i don’t feel like many of these decks stand a chance against the new TGT decks.

These meta decks aren’t voted upon, they’re based on my own research. I’ll be updating the list when the meta settles down more.
