Rank #1 Legend Hearthstone Decks for Standard in May 2016 (Season 26)

The meta has started to stabilize recently, and as a result, we’ve seen a few different decks emerge to the top of the heap. It was interesting to watch the rise and fall of a deck like C’Thun Druid. It’s still a decent list, but it’s now being beaten by so many other, stronger decks on the ladder. I would even go as far as to say that C’Thun Renolock is the better and more consistent fit for C'Thun at the moment.

The following list consists of decks that have hit Rank 1 on the Legendary ladder at some point during Season 26. It spans multiple classes–Warlock, Mage, Rogue, Warrior, and Shaman–and even includes a deck that uses Yogg-Saron, Hope's End! When available, I’ve also included a VOD of each player playing the deck so you can get an idea of how the deck works.

Rank #1 Hearthstone Legend Decks in Season 26

Miracle Rogue can be a tough deck to play against, especially with a card like Gadgetzan Auctioneer that can nearly draw their entire deck. This deck combines that with the ability to deal ridiculous damage with Emperor Thaurissan, Sinister Strike, and the all-powerful Malygos. Chessdude won 15 games in a row to achieve the coveted spot of #1 Legend.

Tempo Warrior came a bit out of nowhere, with BoarControl originating the deck and placing high legend in Season 25. Sjow took the list and added a couple of different cards: Arch-Thief Rafaam made the list, and while it was never a bad card, but with the meta being slightly slower, it can be used as a finisher along with Ragnaros the Firelord.

Loyan and Xixo finished #1 and #2 with the same Midrange Shaman list in Season 25. This list that Xixo built, and Loyan customized, is centered around Totems and Totem synergy. It’s a similar deck, but it uses different cards like Primal Fusion and Thunder Bluff Valiant to take advantage of your surplus of Totems.

The never-ending cycle of Warlock Zoo dominance continues into Standard. The deck lost some sticky minions but gained power in Forbidden Ritual, Possessed Villager, and Darkshire Councilman. This particular list runs the aggressive finisher Leeroy Jenkins that can be easily paired with Power Overwhelming.

I think I’m going to have to finally admit that Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is a viable card for competitive decks. We might be close to seeing it provide someone the boost they need in a live tournament in the near future. It has the potential to swing games back into your favor and will likely draw you cards and destroy your opponent’s board. Yes, there are times when it completely backfires, but if you were in a losing position anyway, then the result doesn’t mean as much.

Edit: I’m adding this additional list as it also hit Rank #1 Legend, be sure to go to the deck page that includes a super extensive deck guide!

It’s awesome to see a successful Reno Jackson list that isn’t using the Warlock class. The deck actually does not contain much in the way of Whispers of the Old Gods cards. Forbidden Flame is the only card from the set, which is rather surprising when cards like Faceless Summoner and Cabalist's Tome were added to the class.

Second Edit: Here’s another deck that hit #1 Legend recently!

Control Warrior had a pretty strong showing at Dreamhack Austin, so it’s not too surprising to see it have its place on the ladder. This Control Warrior deck style is very capable of dealing with early and late game minions, and can go into fatigue with Elise Starseeker.

Will there be another post like this one for June? I reached rank 1 last season (not legend) without one of these decks, so I am hoping I can get to legend this season using one of the more competitive ones. Thanks

I haven’t seen a ton of Rank #1 Legend decks/posts yet this season, but I’ll probably do something similar soon.

I appreciate all the work that went into this list. The shaman deck you posted is top notch! Hopefully next adventure or expansion priests can shine a little more. 😀

Rogue between those two, and Shaman or Warrior are probably the best classes.

      Thanks!

Baron Geddon can be replaced by a Whirlwind or Revenge in Warrior, and Sylvanas Windrunner in the Mage deck. Ragnaros can be replaced by Nefarian or Ysera.

I think you can play Ragnaros instead, but Yogg really helps with games where you’re behind.
