Pro & Streamer Witchwood Post Nerf Deck List Roundup

If you are looking for some decks to try in a post nerf world, then I’ll be gathering all of those deck lists in this post! It will take some time to see how the meta will shake out, so these decks will take a bit of time to be refined.

If you were unaware, the following Standard cards are being nerfed (balanced): Spiteful Summoner (+1 mana), Dark Pact (-4 healing), Possessed Lackey (+1 mana), Call to Arms (+1 mana), and The Caverns Below (Crystal Core -1/-1 to minions). If you are a Wild fan, then your dreams might be finally coming true because Naga Sea Witch (+3 mana) is also receiving a pretty big nerf!

We’ve stopped updating this page, you can find a constantly updated list of decks on our Hearthstone Ladder Decks page!

Post Nerf Deck Lists

I’ll be cataloging some of the new deck lists here. You might see some familiar faces, but even a few card difference makes a big impact on some of these decks. I’m adding some lists below that have avoided the nerf bat. These can be tried while the meta is attempting to stabilize.

Druid

Suggested Deck

Spiteful Druid took a bit of a hit, so it might be time for the rise of Cube Druid!

Hunter

Suggested Deck

Hunter is one of the weaker classes at the moment, so it remains to be seen if this aggro odd list makes a comeback. We’re also watching to see if Recruit Hunter starts to see some serious play.

Mage

Suggested Deck

Tempo Mage continues to be a strong list, and with the nerfs it might be even better.

Paladin

Murloc Paladin is one of the decks people are looking at that will likely head to the top of the meta.
Another option for Paladin now that Even Paladin has been taken down a peg! This option is much cheaper than Even Paladin, so it could be a viable option if you are looking for a more reasonably costed deck.

Priest

Along with Murloc Paladin, this could be one of the decks you see on top of the meta. It was already powerful, but with the nerfs it could see more play. However, this deck beat up on some of the nerfed lists, so it might be weaker to the upcoming meta.

Rogue

Odd Rogue dodged the nerfs and could be one of the top aggro options in the new meta.

Shaman

Suggested Deck

Shaman was pretty weak going into The Witchwood. After an initial burst of Shudderwock play, the class mostly fell by the wayside. In recent days leading up to the nerfs, Even Shaman has started to pick up in play. StanCifka predicts that this will be one of the strongest decks in the meta.

Warlock

Suggested Deck

Is it time to bring back the Zoo? Not that it was an unpopular deck prior to the nerfs, but with both Cube and Control Warlock taking hits it might be time for Zoo to be on top for Warlock again!

Warrior

Suggested Decks

I’m not sure if Warrior is going to make any waves in this upcoming meta, but Tempo Warrior is a possibility for the class if it does.

This nerf just murdered Rin. You will never see that card again. It is too bad control warlock had to be killed to weaken cube

Yes you will still see her. Discovered from Stonehill Defender when you’re facing a Control deck.

There will be some new creations somewhere among the fold, however, the revival of some decks will happen. Also, there were decks that were on the rise prior to the nerfs and they will continue to be a force:

    1) Even Shaman. It’s a pretty board heavy deck, but it will certainly benefit and there are already results garnered from this deck.
    2) Control Shudderwock Shaman. Yep, it’s pretty control/removal heavy and will be more common.
    3) Quest Dragon Priest. It’s a pretty strong control deck with added value in the arch bishop and quest. Expect it to be played more.
    4) Odd Rogue. I’ve been tinkering with mine and actually found spiteful smith to be a good addition.
    5) Warlock Zoo. I hope this deck comes back and becomes a decent force.

Also, tech choices will remain important in decks. I would tend to lean that double silences will be lessened and maybe only 1x or none will make it into decks and that could add to the strength of some decks. Weapon removal is still important I believe, but only enough to warrant a 1x. Also, death rattle might be a surprise factor here, namely skelemancer. I’ve been running a skelemancer deck along with devilsaur egg and they work wonders vs a heavy control meta, especially on a doomsayer turn.
