Hearthstone Balance Patch w/Fiery War Axe & Innervate Nerfs is Releasing on September 18th!

The big Hearthstone Balance Patch will be released on Setpember 18th!

In the recent Upcoming Balance Changes – Update 9.1 blog, we discussed the details and philosophy behind balance updates that are coming to several Hearthstone cards:

    • Innervate – Now reads: Gain 1 Mana Crystal this turn only. (Down from 2)
    • Fiery War Axe – Now costs 3 mana. (Up from 2)
    • Hex – Now costs 4 mana. (Up from 3)
    • Murloc Warleader – Now reads: Your other Murlocs have +2 Attack. (Down from +2 Attack, +1 Health)
    • Spreading Plague – Now costs 6 mana. (Up from 5)

This patch is currently targeted for September 18th PDT. Please note that updates for mobile devices may take a few additional hours to propagate.

Once these card changes are live, players will be able to disenchant cards that are not Basic (Murloc Warleader and Spreading Plague) for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks. Basic cards cannot be disenchanted and will not be available for an Arcane Dust refund.

You should DE it when the nerfs hit so you get the full dust and then wait and see how the meta turns out. You can always craft it again with that same dust.

I just been sitting on my dust and gold since they said nerf. Takes too long from when they announce becuase your not sure what the meta will be like and dont wanna craft or dust stuff. People on my friends list quit playing too. not sure why-if nerf or other stuff.

I agree TAbril! I think jade druid is too strong right now! Sad though that FWA is nerfed! I was looking forward to a control warrior renessance!

I don’t consider that warrior control will be extraordinary after the nerfs. Ringt now a 3 cost removal axe it’s fine for control, in my opinion the reason will be not the axe nerf, but because of the meta that I think we will see.

With aggro nerfs the percentage of its use should reduce (and it will be less overwhelming against control), and with jade druid “nerf” the deck will continue to be quite powerful, but possibly slower at the start of the game. That should open opportunity to priest and mage control decks (and probably shaman decks in response to these two). We may see alot of non-interactive OTK-control priest and mage decks (like highlander priest, exodia mage and frost jaina control mage). Exodia mage kills any control warrior deck, and the other ones, like “slower” jade druid, highlander priest and frost jaina control mage can only be defeated with fatigue warrior control vertion (which invalidates to some extent n’zoth, tempo and quest warrior).

I really dont get it… Why nerf FWA like that!? For pirate Warrior? Ok so just let the same Stats and cost of FWA and just add the text “cant attack heroes”… so you dont fuck control Warrior so hard. it s so simple.
I m not a Warrior player but i m amazed by the lack of imagination

It won’t change much really. Some pirate warriors don’t have FWA before till turn 4 or 5…they can still win without it. Jade didin’t need ramping to win really. It helped make sure they did, or gave them a big advantage. But we will still see jade on the latter and a lot of them. Trust me…. They really needed to make ultimate infestation a choose 5 armor or 5 dmg or a 5 minion…+ 3 cards. That card wins games, they should nerf it.

The Fiery war axe nerf is massive, to the point where its completely unplayable. not having it on turn 2 means that they cannot buff their other pirates or buff the axe itself. nerfing the war axe essentially nerfs all of their pirates.

Oh really? Go check HS replay, you tell me how many people that play pirate have FWA on turn 1 or 2 or 3 in their hand or played. FWA is a helping Win condition, it’s not 100% depend on it. On the other hand, if played vs another aggro deck having it turn 3 is not as good unless you have coin. Again the issue and problem isin’t the nerf it’s RNG. If you get coin, you can still play it turn 2. You guy’s will see, people will still play pirate 100% sure.

You don’t get it at all. the fact that it goes up 1 mana means that the entire curve is put behind. for example, you could not play the FWA plus the taunt for 1 mana on turn 3 anymore, you cannot play FWA turn two then buff it with pirates on turn three. you cannot coin out FWA then play the pirate on turn two for 5 attack. It’s not only about when its played its about the fact that all of the combinations are so much weaker.

In a rush deck, putting everything back 1 turn is huge.

Also, you do realise that warrior already has a 3 mana 3/2 weapon with an effect right?

For the record i did not say that pirate warrior will not be playable, just the war axe.

It’s literally just an exact worse version of King’s defender, something that was almost never played.

Your also not considering that Aggro druid actually has a higher win rate than jade druid and also has a very high play rate (higher than any other class aside from priest). The nerf to innervate ners both aggro and jade druid. On top of that Jade druid had two cards nerfed.

Excellent! I thought it was only at the end of the month, but the sooner the better.
