There’s not a lot of Hunter on the ladder, but that might mean it’s time to dust off everyone’s favorite class to shock the meta! Orange piloted his Hybrid Hunter to a Tournament victory, and now Trump’s finding some success on the ladder with this deck list.

Update: -1 Sir Finley Mrrgglton, +1 Ram Wrangler

I play a lot of hunter and I am subscribed to Trump’s youtube channel. However, I really think that the 3 spells included in this deck are just too slow. I get so much more immediate value and board control out of just 2 freezing traps. Plus, freezing trap standing by with eaglehorn bow is guaranteed to give eaglehorn another durability, whereas with Snake Trap or Bear Trap you have to predict where the opponent may attack. Other than that, I feel the deck is solid. Also, I want ram wrangler to be good, I think it is a really cool card, but a 5-3-3 that (usually) summons a lackluster beast just doesn’t do it for me. It either helps me tremendously or it fucks me over. I replaced Ram Wrangler with a Stranglethorn tiger for now. Love hunter and mostly love this deck, but these are just my opinions.

Also: Ram Wrangler mostly fucks me over and if you don’t have a beast on the board already, you’re fucked. It isn’t good enough to put out alone since it is a 5 mana 3-3 which is disgusting. I really wish I could theorize including it in the deck, but I cannot.

after playing this deck a bit id say possibly switch ram wrangler with harrisons and snakes with freezing depending on you preferences, the lack of card draw can make a muster with harrisons such a game swinging effect not to mention drawing 6 cards of doomhammer 🙂

Would having a flare as a one of be good for this deck

Yeah for sure, with all the secret Pally’s and tempo mages around flare is worth a slot. With two eaglehorn’s and a freezing trap you should be set for removal, so you could probably do without the Quick Shot to fit in a Flare.

I don’t understand why people need to play Sir Finley in that many decks. I get it for anything-non-Totem Shaman, fun Control Hunter decks and more aggro Warriors or Priests maybe but why do you need a Sir Finley in this deck? Hunter’s hero power is good at what it does just because this is a fast midrange deck and needs to put pressure on. Trump knows better than me though so yea but I have experience with the archetype and tried various things (how many of each trap, hunter’s mark, flare, ram wrangler, elekk vs juggler, one ore two unleashes, dreadscale) and never considered finley just because I think this deck is what it is because of the hero power. There was never a time when I said ” If I had the Mage hero power now I would be better off”. And for those who say that it needs card draw so you try to get Gul’dan’s power then no. This is pretty inconsistent. You have to find Finley in the deck and manage to get this hero power so 1/8 chances. If you need card draw (you don’t need you just play too aggressive) go for elekk. You also have mad scientist which is kinda like card draw but better because you know what you draw (most of the time) and play it immediately.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw Finley out there.

The reason why Sir Finley is in midrange hunter decks is because its more about board control, and the hunter hero power dosent affect the board, but the mage hero power or something like that is much better, also vs freeze mage or face hunter the armor up from warrior is very good, in control matchups like priest or handlock the lifetap is good to keep the pressure up.

after a point with midrange hunter (between turns 4-7) you go face no matter what and do minimal trades only if it’s really necessary. guess which hero power helps in doing that? (also this deck has a ridiculous amount of two drops so you can play on curve every fuckin’ time so you won’t use the two mana for the board, you don’t need to, you’ll use it for the face.)

      I’d probably try a Hunter’s Mark.

2nd Owl or Quickshot possibly. Owl gives a body and shuts off bad stuff. Quickshot is more removal / reach.

Hunter’s Mark is better. You don’t actually need a 2nd Owl or Quickshot.

I like it. I’ve been running this list for a while but – 1 Sir Finley and +1 Hunter’s Mark. Having another strong 1 drop couldn’t hurt, I wonder what thoughts are on the Hero Powers you’d want.

This deck has a problem with card draw, so you should always try to get Soul Tap from Finley.

Asker: “why Sir finley murloc in hunter deck?”
Trump: “This is a mid range hunter and is not intended to always go for face.
The Finley allows the hunter to choose the appropriate hero power for the situation.”
