Similar to the other spiteful decks in the past and present, Spiteful mage uses board control to set up our win condition of using alexstraza/pyro as a finisher.

Dragon synergy is used because of how strong of a card scaleworm can be in the current meta. It also lets us get further value out of having alex in hand and taking advantage of cobalt scalebane with board control. Primordial drake battlecry is another great tool in a deck not running many spells.

An interesting thing to note is how this deck uses nightmare amalgam. Not only does it give us a dragon in hand, but it also counts as an elemental on board. So if you end up using frost lich jaina in longer matchups, tar creeper/arcane tyrant/fire fly/ and nightmare amalgam can offer us healing to stall until lethal.

This deck is overloaded with taunts to help get us to our spiteful summoner swing turn/stall for a pyro finish.

Lastly, we can cheat out arcane tyrants with flamestrike. Since this deck is all about board control, turn 7 flamestrike into one or two arcane tyrants with a board already in tact can be a really game deciding turn.

Remind me why you have a mana wyrm in this deck, with only 4 spells, 2 of which would ideally be gone for spiteful summoner?

Sorry, not gone, but you get what I mean. Confused it with the kobold 8 mana guy for a second.

The mana wyrm can just be thought of as a 1 mana 1/3 that tricks your opponent into over committing into it thinking it is a priority kill.

While that makes sense, I don’t think that the effect your going for alone makes it good in the deck, as in you could probably put in better replacements like glacial shard, keeping up with the spirits of spiteful decks. The stats are good, but fooling your opponent doesn’t do much in any match.

Arcan Tyrant seems to be a little bit too slow. Pytoblast is a finisher, you are not suppose to use it and continue to play

You can use it with flamestrike to reestablish board control. However, there is definitely other cards that can fit in this slot.

I was using a similar version with doomsayer and the Elemental of fire for card drawing, but the problem of this deck is the card drawing, you have to draw the right cards at the right moment if not is a easy win for your oponnent

I was thinking of maybe running baron geddon with this deck, but not sure how much of an improvement that would be.

If the problem is the draw, you can try with the new elemental 5/5.
