Mulligans

General Mulligans

It's very important to get board control early on in the game so having a 1-Drop in Hand is absolutely crucial. If you get a 1-Drop in your opening hand, you can mulligan for Raid Leader, Stonehill Defender or Unidentified Maul, depending on the Matchup. Especially the Maul can give you a real advantage on Turn 3 depending on the bonus effect you get (Bonus Effects from best to worst: Divine Shield > +1 Attack > Summon 2 Silver Hand Recruits > Taunt).

Odd, isn’t it?

This deck is basically played like the standard Odd Paladin deck with a few little differences in the deck list. The biggest difference is probably the excange of Corridor Creeper with Paragon of Light. I thaught the possibility of giving your minion Taunt and Lifesteal sonds pretty nice, and regarding the synergies that the Paragon has in this deck, it’s worth trying and for me it worked out fairly well so far (Besides the fact that I already had two Paragons in my Collection and didn’t want to spend 800 Dust an a card that’s pretty much only played in one specific deck).

The downside of this exchange is that you can’t throw your 2/5 minion on the board for 0 Mana. But regarding that you can’t always get it down to 0 Mana, depending on the situation, a fixed cost of 3 Mana for 2/5 Stats with possible bonus effects is pretty neat. Also getting the Paragons attack to 3 is actually not that hard as it synergises with Acherus Veteran, Raid Leader, Fungalmancer, Stormwind Champion and sometimes even Unidentified Maul.

I also run only one copy of Divine Favor because I rearly find myself in a situation where I’m running out of cards and it’s not as useful in every situation as a card with defined draw.

Further I substituted Blessing of Might with Ironbeak Owl because in my opinion a silence is oftentimes way more useful than an additional 3 attack. I can’t even tell how many times I silenced an opponents Taunt (Preferably a Voidlord or Witchwood Grizzly, wich would usually take up my whole board to clear them) to go get my lethal push.

The most fun part of this deck tho is Prince Liam. I got it from one of my first Witchwood packs and even though i was dissappointed at first and immideately wanted to dust him I thougt why not putting him into a Tier-1 deck and just see what happens. And when you manage to get him on the board at turn 5 it’s pretty much always going to be a really fun match. Destroy a warlocks deck with your own Rin or SMOrc the hell out of your opponent with a random Grommash the possibilities are basically endless. All in all it’s just a Fun-Deck that also plays decently on the ladder, at least at rank 20-10 where i currently got a winrate of about 61%.
