Mulligans

Hi Guys,

this is my C’Thun Shadow Priest. At first – this is not totaly my own deck. The template of this deck is from Shamil – you can find his Deck here: Shamil’s C’thun Shadow Priest (Standard). I did some tech decissions, based on the current meta.
You can use it to ladder! I’m currently an Rank 7 and you can get higher with it!

Update 1: -1 Flash Heal, +1 Shadow Word: Pain

This helps to survive against all these Shamans and Zoolocks more than another heal.

Mulligans

At first you whant to mulligan for C’Thun Acolytes like Beckoner of Evil, Disciple of C'Thun and Twilight Elder. C'Thun's Chosen can be kept against Control. Against Zoo it’s not bad to have a board clear on your hand – like Excavated Evil or Holy Nova. Shadow Word: Pain can be kept to kill Mana WyrmTotem Golem or Tunnel Trogg.
Going in Shadowform against control and Midrange Decks early can be very effective.
Against Shaman you can keep Shadow Word: Death to surprise his Flamewreathed Faceless.

The Game

This is a control Deck without any card draw. This means, you win most decks in fatigue. Try to survive, go in Shadowform and heal yourself with Flash Heal, Darkshire Alchemist and Twilight Darkmender.  Do effective trades and get board control along the whole game. Don’t overuse your cards and try to get the most value out of them e.g. don’t heal yourself with Twilight Darkmender when you just get 5 live from it – just wait. The longer the game goes, the better for you.

Shadowform

Shadowform is the special feature of this deck. It’s the heart but the weakness to. You can do very effecient trades with it and if you are in your “3-Damage-Form” you can Control the whole board with your hero power. But you can’t heal yourself with it.

When you go in Shadowform you can use your heropower twice. Once Healing and once the Mind Spike. If you go to Shadowform the second time, you can do 5 damge in 1 Turn to two targets. Remain that! In most cases I would save the second Shadowform to kill a 5 damgage target, like a Sylvanas Windrunner if you have an empty board or if you realy need it to kill a 3-health Minion.

C’Thun and his Doomcaller

Your C'Thun is not to finish the game. It’s more to use your Twilight Darkmender and his Acolytes to control the game. You can play it at any time against the most classes and bring it back to your deck with your Doomcaller. Against Shaman, Priest or Mage, the classes who transform it instead of killing it, play your Doomcaller first as an Acolyte and big minion. Use your C'Thun as finisher or game changer.

Specific Tactics

Here I will give some tips against specific decks or deck styles.

Control Decks

The Main decision against Control decks is wich cards you have to Entomb. The main Control Style today are deathrattle decks. There you have to entomb these cards, you don’t wanna have twice on the board because of N'Zoth the Corruptor. Against Paladin your main targets are Tirion Fordring and  Cairne Bloodhoof. Against Priest you should get Sylvanas Windrunner.
If you play versus Priest don’t give him Sylvanas Windrunner. Just don’t play her until he played BOTH of his Entombs!
Go in Shadowform early! He can’t do that much damage to you and you can do much pressure and nice trades with it.

Midrange and Tempo Decks

Your main goal is surviving and get board control, so you have two targets. First – get your fucking C'Thun to 10/10 so you can use the heals of Twilight Darkmender and your Twin Emperor Vek'lor. These are very mighty cards. Use your board clears not to early. Sometimes it can be good to wait another turn to clear more of his minions. A nice time for a board clear is, when your enemy can’t build another board – use Excavated Evil and Holy Nova when he have 0 or 1 cards in his hand.
If you have time, you can go in Shadowform buw sometimes your healing hero power can save your live.

Aggro and Zoo Decks

If you see your enemy plays aggro or Zoolock – this will be a hard game. Your only chance is to do very efficent trades, get your taunts out (Crazed Worshipper and Twin Emperor Vek'lor) and survive. It’s not a good Idea to go in Shadowform until you have a save board and some healing cards on your hand, because aggro decks can do great burst damage in one round. Try to clear the board, use your Boardclears wisely and pray because you need luck to win this.

OTK Decks

The main problem is you have to win, before they get theyr OTK Combo. Against Freeze Mage there is no Problem. Save your heals and heal against his damage. Other Decks who do 30 damage in one round (like Worgen Warrior or Malygous Decks) are realy hard to beat with this.

Card decisions and Tech Cards

  • Holy Nova is added because of the tone of Aggro and Tempo Decks too. You can replace it with a second Shifting Shade.
  • Crazed Worshipper is added to stop aggro. Replace it with a second Twilight Elder if you whant to.
  • Acidic Swamp Ooze is added against the weapon based classes who dominate the meta. Hold it for a Doomhammer against Shaman. Against Warrior you have to see wether you play against Control or Tempo. Against Tempo you just kill his War Axe. Against Control you wait for his Gorehowl
  • Doomcaller can either bring back your C'Thun or just buff it. It’s simply a very sturdy minion
  • Sylvanas Windrunner – keep in mind, that you can ping herself to get an enemy minion.

If you have some tips and tricks, say it to me! Maybe you can help me to get a better matchup against Aggro and Zoo.
Have fun!

I don’t have any problems with card draw. Use your hero power every turn and just answer on your enemys turn will give you enough cards.

Cool deck, lots of fun. Trying it vanilla at the moment, but will try a few changes, such as Harrison. So far haven’t had any card draw issues and Ooze being 3 mana cheaper I think works well for this deck I think.

I’ve suspected, for a while, that C’Thun priest would eventually be made into one of the stronger C’Thun decks just because of the amount of board control you can have with a Priest … I hadn’t even considered Shadowform – and I’m a little bit scared now O_o

Loved the idea of the deck, But I feel like lack of draw really hurts this deck, I suggest taking out Ooze & 1 Darkshire for Harrison & a second SW: Pain (to free a 5 drop plus all the heal is way over done for priest, since you probably won’t even switch hero powers til you get control of the board) since Shaman is pretty damn popular, I feel like Pain deals with Golems and Trogg pretty well especially with all the early C’thun cards to help out plus you are probably gonna be blowing cards left and right just to survive all the burst Shaman has, so for him to play Doomhammer allows you to draw a crap ton of cards, which should swing the match up way in your favor. Most aggro decks are weapon based classes besides Zoo but I always felt like thats an easy matchup for Priest if you keep your AOE. also I replace Shadow Madness with a second Shift just cause lol, might even suggest throwing in Elise for Fatigue/Control Match ups, maybe. sorry for wall of text.

      Hi,

I don’t own Harrison Jones. Is it relay that good? I like the Ooze because it costs just 2 Mana so you can Combo it with something other but i thought about crafting Jones.
I will try your suggestion with the second SW: Pain and will give you a feedback!

I tried Elise before, but I had no succes with her. Against the most Deck you win in Fatigue without her. If a Deck runs Ms. Starseeker you have to wait for the Monkey and then play C’Thun in 95% they can’t remove it and you just win – so no need for Elise.

I love shadow form, so I also use C’THUN SHADOW PRIEST in standard.
But I have never thought that I can use doomcaller.
I will try this deck. Thank you for your idea.

    Worth playing without Twin Emps?

It’s a realy (!!!) good card. You can try it without and just play another “Crazed Worshipper” or another big taunt. But if you like C’Thun Decks you should realy think about crafting it.
