General

This deck is made of a lot of “randomness”. There are a lot of cards that will result in a random effect … such as Babbling Book , Flamewaker , Barnes , Cabalist's Tome , Faceless Summoner , Sylvanas Windrunner , Firelands Portal , Ragnaros the Firelord or even better, the weapon created by Medivh, the Guardian .

Not only the effects of that “casino game” are surprising, but many times also very effective. This results in particular fun games, and still being competitive.

Stategy

Because of the lack of turn 1 and turn 2 potential, my suggestion is to start with card that are 3-drops or 4-drops. If your opponent plays aggressively, try to submit yourself to “damage control” by using your hero power and build up a good hand.

There are certainly some cards that can slow down the opponent such as Volcanic Potion  and Water Elemental . Later on, some other board clearers can help you out, such as Blizzard  and Flamestrike . And Cabalist's Tome  could also provide you some interesting plays.

Surprise, surprise …

The most unexpected card is Effigy , that is nearly not played. Exciting plays:

Turn 3 Effigy  > Turn 4 Barnes .
It is likely that Barnes will offer you a 1/1 copy of Emperor, Sylvanas, Antonidas or Ragnaros or even the Second-Rate Bruiser.
Your opponent will try to clear them and it will offer you a solid minion, and a huge advantage.

Turn 8 Medivh, the Guardian  > Turn 9 Kazakus  + 5-mana created spell, offering you a very solid spell and a free 5-cost mana if the weapon from Medivh is still on your board.

Fun

I was able to reach rank 10 last season with this deck, just playing about 5 games / day, having about 60-65% win rate between rank 15 – 10. I can imagine there is potential to do great things. If you want to switch some cards, keep the “casino” randomness effect in mind. By example think of Mind Control Tech  or Arcane Missiles .

About meself

Playing as klébar, I started playing HS just before GvG was released. I play on a daily basis, trying to resolve my quests, with an avarage of 3-5 games a day. So I have some experience, but I’m not a die hard, reaching +/- rank 10 every season in the last year.

Have fun with the deck and don’t hesitate to like if so !

What can be a replacement for Medivh?

      Hi Luna,

I actually think that Medivh is quite hard to remove from the deck. When keeping up with your opponent, it gives you huge value.

Perhaps you can try out Kabal Chemist, good 4-drop in combo with Brann. And it remains “casino minded”. Or if you want the huge minion, Nefarian offering you 2 random spells.

Keep in mind: what could the minion offer me with Brann or Barnes (Effigy). A huge taunt minion could also be effictive.

      Good luck with the deck!

      Thank you Alucard.
Brann > Kazakus or Brann > Barnes is particularly fun.

And of course, as soon as the weapon of Medivh can create minions as from 3-mana is very effective.
      Playing Cabalist’s Tome, Flamestrike, Blizzard, … or even a 5-mana or 10-mana Kazakus spell is over-effective, it’s spectacular 😉
