General Mulligans

With coin, keep terrorscale and another 3 drop, egg or spawn. Ideal if you've got a 1 drop too. without those, I keep barnes on coin if i don't have the terrorscale/egg package, as his potential value is so high here.

This deck has been a blast to play and I’ve been toying with it constantly this season. I like to play like Spark… design different decks that can be competitive rather than just copy the best, and battle my way up (I find this more fun and I don;t have time to do the legend grind. I finish each season at ~rank 5).

Overall, this deck has an extremely difficult board to deal with, as almost everything gives something to stay when it dies. So control has a lot of difficulty keeping pace.

Aggro is the harder matchup (I’m seeing a lot of evo shaman), which is the reason for the explosive trap inclusion, which is great against shaman. Token druid is much harder because of the health pump they get.

Ideal games go:

T1: Mistress of Mixtures or Runic Egg

T2 without coin: Kindly Grandmother or Loot Hoarder

T2 with coin: Devilsaur Egg or Spawn of N'Zoth

T3 without: Terrorscale Stalker hitting something or  Eaglehorn Bow

T3 with coin: Terrorscale Stalker hitting your egg or spawn ***This start is freaking awesome and is tough for many decks to deal with!!! this is what is making this deck viable imho.

T4: Barnes and hope to hit Savannah Highmane Cairne Bloodhoof or even Devilsaur Egg

That describes ideal games, but you still have to react to your opponent… in comes the taunt package. Sunfury Protector and Defender of Argus are great with your eggs, as they are often sitting there waiting for the pump, and as most midrange decks these days, the biggest issue is not staying alive long enough with the lack of life gain in the game (especially hunter). sunfury doesn’t seem like much, but it can effectively heal you for ~5 by taunting up to minions, and this can be enough to slow an aggro deck down and get you in to your midgame.

The late turns are obvious. You want to drop your Princess Huhuran, Cairne Bloodhoof and Savannah Highmane and N'Zoth, The Corruptor is there to say “I win” against control.

Spiritsinger Umbra  is an interesting card. He can be played turn 4, but there isn’t anything good at 5 slot to follow him, so unless you need to push for board and you have a 2 and 3 drop for next turn, I wouldn’t risk wasting him. He can be so good late game with a few small drops, making them more valuable (A late game runic egg or loot hoarder is no longer a deadish draw). So I usually save Umbra for those later turns (7-9) before an N’Zoth)

I’d like to mention Mistress of mixtures can gain you a ton of life given the many activators: barnes, stalkers, huhuran, umbra and nzoth… which can really help you extend games. You normally aren’t pushing for face, just controlling board. Most games go long, so this is viable.

Grievous Bite and Deadly Shot are tech cards atm, but the bite may not be doing it for me as I’m not seeing much pirate (weird) and with the explosive trap for shaman, it seems like a lost card, although 2X explosive might be the answer. Seeing as my games are going long, I might try something bigger, like a Dread. Deadly is for taunt warrior, and ideal to save for a primordial if possible or a Tirion against Pally.

      Feels like win more.

Although if you take the archetype down the control route, it could be a solid play, say hitting infested taurens?!?!

I understand that the 1 copy of Explosive Trap gives you an AOE/anti-aggro card, but have you tried Misdirection instead? It could be used as another egg activator by forcing enemy minions to attack your deathrattle minions when they mean to attack you.

nice idea. hunter has some pretty decent interactions with deathrattle however nor strong nough i guess 🙂 just a few more tools maybe. class is missing some key control elements i guess

I object to this deck; the eggs are the wrong colour and there’s not a single boar to be seen, not even Huffer, so there’s no Ham!

    – and the player isn’t even called Dr Seuss. 🙁

    Solid deck man!
I gotta ask though I dusted my Umbra a few days ago because the Nax Baron is just so much better in Wild (I also secretly needed the dust for new decks… I have a problem there)
But that aside what would you recommend in standard to replace Umbra and Princess with? Personally I was thinking a Nesting Roc due to sticky board and maybe a tauren for immediate N’zoth Taunt, and is also another sticky minion.

Umbra isn;t a must…. more of a win more card to be honest. So a tauren would be a good replacement to help close things down.

There’s nothing that really does what princess does, and not a ton of great 5 drops other than roc. So i suppose you could add 2 taurens and a nesting roc and hope to make the game go to n’zoth. but i don’t think it’ll work the same. Generating the tempo of a 6/5 and a 5/5 on one turn is tough to match…
