This Deck has A LOT of potential and is really fun to play.

I only find forbidden healing a bit hard to play, so i subbed one for a Northshire Cleric and it works really fine.

    Thanks!

Hey guys, I really like this deck but I think I suck with it. I’m playing it at rank 5 (ok, i’ve now fallen back into 6) and really struggling with zoo. I’m not primarily a priest player, so I might be really messing up some basics, but does anyone have any suggestions for not being terrible? Specifically vs zoo?

i wrote the comment suggesting that people might be playing it suboptimally — i won’t claim to be an expert, having pretty much bailed on ranked entirely once i got the 500 priest wins, but i have been a priest main for a long-ass time, stretching back to the beta, SO, for whatever that’s worth: my suggestion would be to hold. HOOOOOLD. like braveheart. accept that you’ll probably lose a good bit of health before ultimately stabilizing. unless you get fucked on draw and bursted down super early, the feast priests can make up for whatever damage you incur. likewise despite the lack of AOE outside of excavated evil the pyros can easily rack up 3, 4, even 5 damage turns. BUT neither the pyros nor the feasts will do shit if you don’t work with them & exhibit patience.

basically in the early turns you shouldn’t be looking to do much more than thoughtsteal and SW:P if they play a good target for it. the ball gets rolling around turn 5, at which point you’ll probably want to either use an excavated evil, if the majority of their minions are 3HP or less, or activate one of your pyros at least twice. in a nutshell you want to avoid shit like pyro + holy smite to kill a single 2/3. think bigger, like pyro+coin+PWS+pain to kill their 2/3, 3/3, 2/1, and 3/6. i personally swapped the harrison listed here for a second SWD and dropped one loot hoarder in favor of thalnos — you may or may not want to go along with the former, depending on how often you’re facing weapon classes, but i’d definitely recommend you try the latter, assuming you have thalnos, as that one extra damage can often allow you to clear a board or single tricky minion that’d otherwise be just out of reach.

      lastly, a handy checklist:

      1. do u have yogg in hand?
      2. do u have 10 mana???
      3. do u have more than, like, 7 cards?????

if you answered “yes” to all of the above, oh hell yeah pimp, fuckin play that bitch, regardless of what the board looks like. out of my last 35 games, i’ve won 33 and actually gotten to play yogg in maybe 20-25 of them. sometimes the board was full on one or both sides, sometimes it was empty, but i always made sure to stick to that 7-card rule — and literally every time, the net effect was beneficial. obviously this is anecdotal but i think it’s impressive enough to be worth noting.

        Hey!
Thanks man, this was super helpful. I definitely tend to not be patient enough so I will, at the very least, work on that. I do have Thalnos so I’ll throw him in. I’m considering the Harrison swap too. I tend to hold on to him too long against weapon classes and miss playing him earlier when he might be more useful. Anyway, excited to put pirate warrior down and try this deck out again tonight.

        Thanks again.

        Also,
I didn’t realize how easy/logical the thalnos swap was. No brainer! But what’s your rationale for the “7 card rule”? I’m genuinely curious about this.

Well, I just crushed a pretty good zoo deck… definitely mulligan for wild pyromancer above all else… if you have him already mulligan for PW: shield, but don’t tempo him out, you have to save him for a good clear… He’s also great with Pyro, shield or holy smite, then ressurect if they kill him. Note the ressurect triggers the new pyro.

i literally named this deck “some dumb shit idk” because it seems obvious at first glance that it has zero business winning under any circumstances. common sense dictates that in this cruel, post-lightbomb world, cutting auchenai from your priest deck is suicide. plus…double smite, with no velen? holy fire? one death? the deck looks really stupid, is what i’m saying. but i still tried it, because why not, i think a lot of priests will try anything at this point, and what do you know, turns out the deck fucking owns. deck fuckin owns real hard

if your experience has been different — someone mentioned beating this list 3 times in a row — consider that it’s not an inherently intuitive deck to play. actually it’s fairly easy, imo, to pilot directly into the dirt at mach 4, exploding on impact. so if a lot of people are playing the ~NeW WaCkY PrIeSt dEcK~ it’s fair to assume that a decent chunk of those people aren’t very good. my sole suggestion: play yogg early. don’t wait until fatigue and draw yourself to death.

i love zeta decks, but this deck is soooooo borning.
as a rank 5 every season with priest, its not even that good.
zeta c’thun is still better, along with kiblers dragon and nzoth.
